She had a stillborn baby. Now she’s being charged with murder.

So, where is the line drawn?
    https://www.vox.com/identities/2019...scarriage-murder-abortion-chelsea-becker-news

Should we look at all miscarriages just to ensure the woman did not expose herself to a potential abortifacient?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Abortifacients
The following picture shows some of the agents listed as possible abortifacients and the truth is we are unsure of what is and is not a natural abortifacient because when a miscarriage happens we don’t want to blame the woman

So she was taking illegal drugs, and by doing so, might have caused the death of her baby.

It must have been very bad, because California where this happened is very Pro-Abortion.

According to the UK's DailyMail, the stillborn baby was found to have had high levels of meth in its system.

And suppose that baby had survived, and been permanently messed up and intellectually disabled for the rest of its life?

Don't do drugs while you're pregnant.

And yet there are babies born every day to women who do meth

    https://drugabuse.com/methamphetamine/pregnancy/

And there is no definitive link between meth abuse and spontaneous abortion (miscarriage)

    What about legal drugs?
Do you prosecute a mother if her child is affected by alcohol or tobacco use whilst pregnant?
It's a minefield with no simple answer.

One of the few absolutes we have that we know affect the unborn child ( there are a massive amount of chemicals and agents suspected of being teratogenic but little evidence that they are) is lack of vitamins especially the B group Folate and B12

So could a woman be charged for having a sub optimal diet?

If it's obviously extreme, so that any reasonable person should have known harm was likely to her developing child, then it could be argued yes.

It's the same as if a woman feeds an infant a grossly sub optimal diet. That can amount to a form of neglect/abuse. Some women have been charged, or had their toddlers taken away from them by child protective services.

So, you are OK with a woman being jailed and forced fed if she has a “sub optimal” diet?

You DO realise don’t you that b12 deficiency is often seen in vegans?

Do you contend that a woman should be allowed to do whatever she wants while the child is developing inside her womb?

Even if that ends up messing up the child for life.

Women ARE allowed, just like everyone else , to do what they choose with their bodies.

Becoming pregnant does not mean the state/government/nosy,sad Anti-Choicers owns her body.

HINT: No woman owes anyone a child...

    What is the alternative?

Should a woman have to keep a diary of everything she eats, how long she exercises, how long she sleeps so that some TWONK can decide if she has done the right thing?

The government knows what is best for you. Just suck it up. You cheer for obamacare, gun control, big government and then complain when the beast you created turns on you.

In the context of what we are talking about, that's a shocking statement.

We are talking about a woman who overdoses on drugs to make sure that fetus doesn't enter into the world.

I can't find any articles specifically telling exactly at what stage of gestation that baby died, but I'm imagining it must have been pretty late, otherwise she would not have been charged for it in California, a place which is very pro-abortion.

NO, it's not "shocking" in any way or context, it is a statement of fact.

Doesn't matter what you're talking about the statement is true: No woman owes anyone a child...

No, but plenty of sarcasm in response to some of the comments I am reading here.

She apparently carried the child to 38 weeks so, in my view, she does owe that child life. She could easily have aborted the baby as abortion is legal in CA. She chose to carry it to term so she definitely owes the baby a fighting chance.

She should be sterilized :) No more chances.

Absolutely! That would be the reasonable thing to do. Makes perfect sense. I am sure all sorts of people are advocating for this right this second! I bet there are hundreds, no, thousands of protests going on every year because woeman are not keeping diaries of their eating habits!
