A subsidy for low income workers can always be justified.
All laws that prevent the able idle from working should be repealed.

Because an unconditional income supplement to all Canadians... and soon to all Americans....
with no strings attached would have a totally different effect on the psychology of all who receive it.

It is impossible. There is no way to create money without diluting what has already been created. The recipients will be no better off than before. Americans would have to pay about $1600.00 for government employee salary, health insurance, and retirement, just to get that $500.00 back. It cost nothing to leave my money alone in the first place.

Those five hundred per month would mean more to the people who live in rural America where the situation tends to be worse in many ways than in suburban America and in the cities.

A higher percentage of rural Americans being able to afford health insurance would make a huge difference in improving life in rural America.

The key is that it be distributed to rich and poor alike but of course the rich would be paying a higher percentage in income tax. That way no huge bureaucracy needs to be created to do this.

I wrote something this morning and posted it all over Facebook which I think has the potential to get a huge number of Canadians thinking about all this...... which I think could possibly set President Trump up to coopt at least some of the Andrew Yang platform which....... if I am not wrong.... should lead to a serious reduction in Canadian and American freely CHOOSING to keep their babies?!

Should P. M. Justin Trudeau apologize for what his dad back in 1974 and....

No ... Ireland. My father submitted my application when I was 8 yrs old on my 1st trip to the emerald island. I stood to inherit property so he felt it was prudent and because he didn't want my siblings and I to be just tourists in our ancestral home.

There seems to be enough revenue already flowing into government to create large healthcare accounts, education accounts and retirement accounts for every productive worker in America (w/o the minimum wage almost all adults).

Eliminate the bureaucracy that has failed to meet all these needs and there probably would be no need to print more money or raise taxes.

That is one of the beautiful things about an UNCONDITIONAL Basic Minimum Income... if it goes to all citizens.... .there is no need to create a bureaucracy to watch over it!

It would be taxable.. .and would create a taxation cash cow for all levels of government that are complaining of being strapped for cash.

The Conservative Case for a Guaranteed Basic Income
Creating a wage floor is an effective way to fight poverty—and it would reduce government spending and intrusion.

Guaranteeing a minimum wage for unskilled workers make sense to me so long as private sector employers do not have to pay it.

I cannot see an end the kinds of jobs that the volunteers took on in Baltimore.

“We can’t do it alone,” Jefferson said. “It makes me feel good to see that there are still some good people and good communities that want to see better.”
The volunteers donned gloves and wielded rakes and weed wackers as they combed through trash dumped in the neighborhood and hacked away grasses peeking through the sidewalks. Beneath a pop-up tent, they signed a poster with the words “Americans Helping Americans."
CAPITAL GAZETTE, MARYLAND NEWS, After Trump’s tweets, conservative activist leads neighborhood cleanup in West Baltimore, By CHRISTINE CONDON, BALTIMORE, AUG 05, 2019.

To finish jobs like that local skilled workers, small business owners, and retirees should be able to field crews of unskilled workers to clean up the urban blight for a very low wage to be subsidized by local, state and federal government.

If you adopt an unwanted child from the system, you will be provided with a basic income for each child.

The most serious crime here is the deception of Canadian women largely by men.... who
want to see Canadian women pressured by economics into feeling that their only real choice is to have
    an abortion!

If a basic income resulted in fewer abortions. Planned Parenthood would be against it.

I doubt it; they believe that if you don't believe in abortion, then you shouldn't have one. If you want one, they'll assist you in having one. People have abortions generally because they don't want to have babies in the first place.

That is an interesting way of looking at this.

The top one percent of the population for earnings tend to be against a Basic Minimum Income
partly due to their belief that others can make it to the top due to their having done so. I believe that
the people over at Planned Parenthood might tend to take this possible method of reducing the incidence of
abortions as being one that they might actually tend to like significantly more than other proposed methods to reduce the incidence of abortions.

As long as women continue to not want babies, you're going to continue to have abortions; There is not getting around it, the incidence of abortions will most likely not go down, in fact as the population increases, it will go up.

The percentage will go down now that we have things like the morning after pill. There's even a mint flavor, chewable, pill they can take right before sex. (Pre-dick-a-mints)

If they can afford and/or know about it. Many teenagers haven't got a clue.

I don't believe that teenagers don't know about birth control. We are only human and only have so much power to resist temptation. Studies show that teenage pregnancy rates drop significantly at age 20!

In your opinion how has all the COVID 19 spending affected the willingness of Americans or Canadians to tend to be in favour of a Basic Minimum Income of some sort?
