I have every right to impose requirements upon those who are in any position if they want my respect. Now who I I think deserves my respect, and what I do around people who have not acquired my respect are very different questions. But they will look pretty similar when I am around them.

However those who have earned my contempt, loathing, distain, or animus are in a whole different category. What I do around them may well not look anything like those above.

I don't think it does preclude it. My son can marry a stripper for all I care. I ought not make any assumptions about her basic character, other than she is not bashful.

I have said this before and I will say it again that booing anyone no matter who they are (and especially just by association) is a very low class act and bad form. It says more about the booers and those who cheer it on than it ever will about the target.

But to go that extra step and call her a 'hooker' is reaching even lower imo.

 

Especially in light of the fact she won a libel suit against a major paper for the same smear. Just dont ask him for proof of his claim, you'd have better luck finding hen's teeth.

 

Booing is just the opposite of applauding and cheering. Both expressions of public interest should be treated roughly the same. if you are going to be in the public eye, and you intend to gratefully accept their applause, you have to steel yourself for the opposite. I don't have any problem with booers of someone has done something to be booed. This woman really has not, and she certainly has not when she comes to a forum on opiate abuse.

 

The opposite of applauding someone is not to applaud them. That's fine and silent and expresses your feelings adequately and sure, when you are in the public eye you have to put up with any number of non self disciplined and noisy whack jobs but I just think it shows a weak character to attend an event purely to try to boo someone down that you don't like. If it were me I just wouldn't attend.

I should add that say booing a ref's bad call in a game is reasonable but not booing the opposing team, just because, and certainly not booing someone just because they are married to someone they don't like.

She was (and continues to be) attacked over all kinds of things - some of which are quite racist. The attacks against her have been (and are) disgusting. Melania is getting off easy in comparison.

That doesn't justify any attacks against Melania. Will you say the same about attacks against Michelle Obama?

 

Sure, but you cant deny, the media cooed over Michelle's every move, they criticize Melania over the smallest things. No one can deny this, in good faith.

 

Applauding is an expression of support, or adulation. Silence is an expression of indifference. Booing is an expression of disapproval or disdain. Booing is the opposite of applauding because it suggests animus not a cavalier disregard. Booing to silence someone's expression or disrupt communication is decidedly different than to boo to express active displeasure or dislike because its purpose is served with a short duration. I would never support 'booing someone down' because it victimizes those who came to hear, as much or more than those who came to speak/sing perform etc. The audience deserves to hear who they came to hear regardless of someone else's desire that certain views not be heard.
