Agreed! And, "the icing on the cake" would be if poor, old, withered, EIGHTY-SIX YEAR OLD Justice Ruthie Ginsburg would finally have the decency and common sense to retire! To radical Democrats, the ACLU, other hyperlib judges, and that whole America-hating legalistic faction, Justice Ruthie is one of their vitally important mainstays. But with the whole 'impeachment' circus finding more difficulty with its own 'credibility' factor (to say nothing of its laughable assortment of illegal alien-loving candidates), it looks more and more like Trump will win re-election. So, Ginsburg wants to stick it out for possibly another FIVE years...? Truth? If Ruthie did what's really good for Ruthie, she'd say, "Screw this!", go home, and STAY there!
Don't brag. (That's my job.) Naw, you done good, man. Looking back on it, I figured one of the moderates like Delaney or Klobuchar would get it, possibly Booker, who has his moments of sanity. But I can't figure what Tulsi Gabbard was lacking.
I was looking for a thread where Republicans laughed at me for saying Biden would win, but there was too much material to go through to find it. This was the best I could do. Tulsi was always too anti-war to ever get the Democratic nominee and Booker, Delaney and Klobuchar are too much of nobodies to be nominees. Anyways, I am glad this thing is finally over. I guess the coming four years will be all the same here, except every other thread will be one where Republicans cry about Biden instead of Democrats crying over Trump.
Maybe. My suspicion is that we are entering something like an Eisenhower era. Quiet, and moderate, but with massive spending programs on infrastructure, as was the interstate highway initiative. I hope and suspect that Biden will bring in a liberal Republican or two to join the cabinet.
I have no idea where the Republican party will go from here. To me, it feels like they are dead and won't be able to ever win an election again. If I can put my tinfoil hat on, I would predict that Biden will not last four years and that Harris will be forced out to be replaced by Nancy Pelosi. And then it is RIP USA.
Something intrigues me about the idea of Justice Barrett writing an opinion for a 5-4 majority just giving the election to Trump. "Yeah, we know, Biden won the popular vote and the electoral college, blah blah blah, but Donald Trump was making America great again, not to mention the fact that he nominated me to this Court, he's pro-life, and heck, I just like him. Mr. President, I haven't forgotten, so here's to you and FOUR MORE YEARS!!!" Kagen, Breyer, and Sotomayor dissenting. Now that would produce a historic fecal material show if there ever was one.
Well, the Republicans made gains in the house, and Trump in losing got a lot more electoral votes than did Dukakis, Carter, or even GHW Bush (176 electoral votes). A lot of this is charisma, sex appeal, and dumb luck. If it hadn't been for the pandemic, no matter the response, Trump would have been reelected. If it hasn't been for Watergate, Ford would have beaten Carter. No one would have dreamed that Democrats would ever recover from the elections of 1980 and 1984, winning only 49 and 13 electoral votes respectively? And then along came Bill Clinton. Sex appeal.
