The reason why all supposed Christians do not agree on the Bible's moral standards is because they ignore context and cherry-pick words that line up with what they choose to believe (personal interpretation). By paying attention to context (the surrounding words, verses, and chapters) most, if not all, readers would be able to get the correct understanding of scripture. But most people refuse to do this.

We see this same problem with various false "Christian" doctrines such as hellfire torment and the Trinity. There are no scriptures that support literal hellfire torment or Christendom's Trinity. But by ignoring context while cherry picking a few choice words out of an entire chapter, certain people insist that hellfire torment is literal and that God is a trinity (Father, Son, and holy spirit combined into a single godhead). That is the attitude that I have found when debating individuals who claim they Christians. They routinely ignore context when reading scripture.

Jehovahs Witnesses are the least Biblically literate group (except for atheists) in the world.

Your comment was worded poorly. There is over 7 billion people yet you reduced them to three groups, Jehovah Witnesses, atheists, and people who may know a thing or two about the Bible. When preachers yak about the fake Ten Commandments I tend to rate their biblical knowledge at 1%.

When people talk about "preachers who talk about the fake Ten Commandments" I tend to rate their knowledge of current events at zero. I've never heard of such a thing. And yes, atheists and Jehovah's Witnesses were the subject of my remarks.

This is gobbledygook. Which translation in particular? What is an "edit"? What doctrine, what church leader, what denomination?

No, you pick two and tell me how the translation affects doctrine. I have read and used a lot of them and I see no differences.

The Apocalypse of Peter covered the Hellfire aspects and was a popular gospel when they were considering what books to include in the Bible. But the content wasn't pretty so it was left out I suspect. But elements became almost canon in the Christian faith.

As opposed to what, the fake Ten Commandments? And this has nothing to do with the topic at hand, you don't get to make your own doctrine.

After the invention of the printing press, it was the 1st book in print. It survived it's attempted destruction by thousands of skeptics like yourself. It is circulated widely in China where it is illegal and the government shares a lot of your mindset. God has partnered with mankind in seeing His Word flourish in spite of the naysayers. It has survived in spite of being used by governments and religions soley for the purpose of holding power over others. Just because God does not operate the way Daniel Light would have Him operate does not discount His purpose.

I don't believe that the problem with interpretation is as bad as many make it out to be.
The main problem seems to be the intellectual interpretation of concepts, not of the meaning of words.

I think many times when people misinterpret something, it's because they did not understand a whole underlying concept in a wider context. So in that sense, the problem is not really truly misinterpretation but that they do not really understand bigger concepts.

Line upon line. precept upon precept. It takes introspection and patience with a solemn desire to know something greater than oneself. Few are granted that gift. And when in the presence of those that are, the Truth resides.
