    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clint_Lorance
At his trial in August 2013, nine members of his platoon testified against him.[5] Lorance never testified in the court hearings, though he did take responsibility for his men's actions. Three men on a motorcycle were speeding towards the platoon and ignoring commands to stop. Attorneys for Lorance attempted to cast doubt on four of the soldiers' accounts, arguing that they were granted immunity in exchange for their testimony.[5] The other five soldiers who testified against Lorance did not receive immunity.

    Neither was this.

    According to Americans
"the justification for acts done pursuant to orders does not exist if the order was of such a nature that a man of ordinary sense and understanding would know it to be illegal"

Correct. It was not conventional combat; the situation was unknown. The man was convicted. Then he was pardoned. He made the right choice.

They ignored commands to stop, they didn't. Pardon justified.

The conviction still stands. He aint innocent. He had people massacred who were unarmed and unable to reach them soldiers and so posed no thread.

Do note. A draft dodger gave him a pardon.
Clearly that imbecile doesn't know anything about the army.

He's back in the world, and he's alive. He made the right choice.

He made the wrong choice. He's a convicted war criminal, unable to find a job.
It took a draft dodger to get him out of jail. An imbecile who doesn't know crap about the army. lol

I never disclose my personal information. It's only used for personal attacks.
As for who served. The people testified against him served. The people who convicted him served.
The person who gave a pardon.... is a yellow back draft dodger.
And here you are thinking the yellow back draft dodger knows best....
and wonder if I got any military experience to debunk this. lol

Their defense didn't hold up because they lost the war. The real question here is does the US need to bring back the draft? If so, perceptions could possibly be a little different, eh what?

Those of us who served are proud of it. You didn't serve and yet here you are bashing a brave soldier who did his job to save his fellow soldiers. You should be ashamed.

LOL, so you are afraid to say if you served? I take it you didn't. I volunteered during Vietnam and served two tours. You?

Americans have used that line of defense before... just following orders... and it that defense got dismissed by their fellow Americans. I sourced it already.

OK, assembly the Joint Chiefs of Staff and then have guys ride at them on motorcycles in a war zone. If they don't shoot the guys then the soldier is guilty. If they blast the guys they are war criminals. If the guys blow them up would it be a loss?

You realize he's a convicted murderer, right? We're not just saying this for hyperbole. He was court-martialed and found guilty of murder. That's who your thanking. Do you and Trump know something the military and the rest of us don't?

Seriously. That psycho got a fair trial, and was found guilty. Period.
And here you are wondering if killing innocent people not posing any thread is "a loss".... when you know by now it's a war crime.

I got nothing to add to what brave soldiers made of this.
All you got going is the opinion of a yellow back draft dodger.

Thanks for proving my point. You are afraid. There is no dishonor if you are afraid. Such is fear.

Dumb people always pay a price when they make a dumb decision -- they're dead. The soldier is back in the world and alive. He made the right decision.

He is paying a high price for his dumb decision, while other brave soldiers return decorated and with honor, testified against that psycho and sentenced him as well.
