The irony is just TOOOOO juicy not to discus.

    Source of original article: https://www.vox.com/2019/9/11/20851034/california-ab-5-workers-labor-unions

    Snippet:
By making it hard for employers to misclassify employees as independent contractors, potentially millions of California workers who’ve been kept off payrolls will get basic labor rights for the first time, like overtime pay and unemployment benefits. This includes janitors, construction workers, security guards, and hotel housekeepers — and yes, this group also includes Uber and Lyft drivers.

    And here is the irony....

Vox Media to cut hundreds of freelance jobs ahead of changes in California gig economy laws

Vox? But never mind, when didn't people have the right to join unions?

I know a few people who drive for Uber to make extra cash and they HATE this idea. They WANT to work when they WANT to work and not under any scheduled hours and not under full time employment rules.

Or, when independence prefer to freelance. Apparently, freelancing is now a crime. WTG California!

There's nothing stopping all those contractors who lost their jobs from joining unions now!

    Success!

Would you rather be a "freelancer" or an employee?

The question you want to be asking is...

Would you rather be a "freelancer" or unemployed?

Your question is leftist fantasyland. My question is reality.

Does that sound like a just relationship?

How about another way of putting this. A coin toss will determine if you're "freelancer" or the owner of the business. Which would you rather coin toss determine? If you're the "freelancer" or owner?

The labor laws that apply to employees are the reason that can't continue now, and it's the reason why it's NOT continuing now.

Dependent on what I was needing. If you want independence, freelancing is your gig.

Too bad so sad. I'm going to take it you know where I'm going with this. But I'm going to see if I'm wrong. Do you know where I'm going with this?

That's not an answer to the question. Which job would you prefer? One that gives you access to benefits, or one that doesn't? Or perhaps just some random person on the street. Would they prefer to work a job that has access to benefits, or one that doesn't doing the same kind of work?
