Democrats Seek To Outlaw Suburban, Single-Family House Zoning, Calling It Racist And Bad For The Environment

The left seems to want to control everything. They want to control our schools, healthcare, what we eat and drink, even straws. But now they want to control what people can build on their own property in their own neighborhoods regardless of the existing conditions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the left who often tells us we need to respect different cultures? So why the need to change the culture of the suburbs?

The aesthetics of a neighborhood or community should be decided by the people who live and support the community and not SJW politicians with feelings.

Do you guys agree or disagree with Virginia's lawmakers on this one?

But it's totally cool to live on the sidewalks and piss and ship on everything.

It is obvious who the Democrats/neo-commies are targeting. Middle class Americans. Their quest is to make everyone in America equally miserable.

America needs more housing not less

Why not build single-family homes in hi-rise inner cities?

    Good for diversity...

Democrats don't seem to care about the impact homeless people have on the environment.

My guess would be crime and pollution make buildings single family homes in Democrats/neo-commie areas inequitable.

I currently live in a duplex. First of all, it's by choice and just temporary. Second, I am a serious audiophile, I have nearly $100k of high end audio equipment sitting in the garage, but out of respect for my neighbor I have no intention of hooking it up because I would drive him crazy. Third, my wife has a horse that she's boarding at another location. We're waiting for a home to become available where she can have her horse in the backyard. So between me and my music, and my wife and her horse, duplexes are not the perfect homes for us, but if democrats in Virginia have their way, then that's all that would be available to us.

There are currently no single family homes in the state?

You would think Democrats/neo-commies who areas are dominated by homeless would want more housing everywhere. If you move out and buy a house it frees up your duplex in the city.

The Democrats/neo-commies will probably grandfather those homes in. They'll become hella expensive.

It's not fair we have drive by shootings just in the cities, we must have drive by shootings in the suburbs as well.

    Middle finger to those Democrats..

The whole climate change argument, once it hits the hands of politicians , it is not about saving the planet, it is about controlling people.

Oh, there are plenty of them. But I grabbed this rental due to its proximity to where I work and fast access to stores and highways. I never intended to be here for as long as I have, but the horse property my wife desires are either too expensive or too dumpy. So we’re still looking.

Obama’s last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy
    By Paul Sperry

    May 8, 2016 | 7:30am

Hillary’s rumored running mate, Housing Secretary Julian Castro, is cooking up a scheme to reallocate funding for Section 8 housing to punish suburbs for being too white and too wealthy.

The scheme involves super-sizing vouchers to help urban poor afford higher rents in pricey areas, such as Westchester County, while assigning them government real estate agents called “mobility counselors” to secure housing in the exurbs.

Castro plans to launch the Section 8 reboot this fall, even though a similar program tested a few years ago in Dallas has been blamed for shifting violent crime to affluent neighborhoods.

It’s all part of a grand scheme to forcibly desegregate inner cities and integrate the outer suburbs.

Anticipating NIMBY resistance, Castro last month threatened to sue suburban landlords for discrimination if they refuse even Section 8 tenants with criminal records. And last year, he implemented a powerful new regulation — “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” — that pressures all suburban counties taking federal grant money to change local zoning laws to build more low-income housing (landlords of such properties are required to accept Section 8 vouchers).

Let's see those Democrats who are pushing this move into apartments and duplexes. Obama, Clinton, and Pelosi could set the example.

This is happening in California now.

There is a massive exodus from the inner city taking place.

Sadly Im currently living in the one part of the state that actually saw its population increase-so the traffic, crime, etc is even worse now.

My only solace is that suburban dems are about to get a taste of their own medicine.

Can we get something more trustworthy than the Daily ****ing Caller? That's like sourcing the Enquirer and taking it's claims seriously.

Probably could, except the dems have made it clear it's what they want to do. What more do you want?

Yes I have read this whole thread. The OP cited the Daily Caller, a bunch of posters posted meaningless stuff that amounted to a circle jerk and a handful of posters cited blogs. Give me something like the Washington Post or Wall Street Journal. Or even better, cite the VA Democratic Party platform calling for this.

That is actually an old idea from earlier in the century. At that time the thinking was that some places would actually condemn existing single family suburbs and raze then to the ground and then build high-density housing on the land. Of course when that happens then the only people who will have single family homes are those who have multi-million mansions.

Why haven't you realized that this is a world-wide problem? The world's population is increasing and there isn't enough housing for everyone. Since land is limited it will be necessary to stack more people on the area that is available. Look at the typical suburb. It may only have a few multi-family units, with most of the land taken up by single family houses on large lots. That is the case where I live. But my town could be redesigned by replacing all of the the single and small multi-family units with super large buildings, transportation systems, wider streets, parking garages, and so forth and, instead of a population density of about 2,000 people per square mile you could probably get 27,000 per square mile, like New York City.

    Neo-coms lie.

They say they don't want to ban guns

They say they don't want open borders

They say they don't want to ban single family homes

Till the day they pass it...
