......as is usually the case when it comes to American quasi-strategists and "advisors" running around with their kinetically minded egos locked and loaded its always that irksome little law of unintended consequences that rather buggers up their news cycles...thing is if they're smart about it, those pesky Iranians that is, they'll use unconventional/insurgent-style tactics. If they're incredibly stupid, they'll do something like close the Straits; I doubt they'll be daft about it though. In any event this ain't over and the fat lady sure as fukc ain't singin...anyway have a bit of fun while it lasts.....

You're being extremely naive if you believe that Iran is in any way at all like Iraq. Iran is a highly technologically sophisticated and advanced country. If you think Iraq is nothing but concrete structures with dirt roads and men astride donkeys, you'd be shocked. Iran is a very wealthy, high educated country. The Iran military are 525,000 strong in the Revolutionary Guard, but that's not all of it. Iran has proxy military groups all over the Middle East. There's Hezbollah and Hamas which are Islamic Jihadists. There's Iraqi militias, and Houthi rebels.

These Iranian proxy groups cover most of the middle east in countries such as Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Turkey. So if you believe that this is going to be a quick conflict and the U.S. is going to come out victorious, think again. Maybe you have young children 8 or 10 years old? Count on it that this war will be ongoing when they're 18 or 20. The Middle East has been a tinderbox for decades and it's been dealt with in the past through diplomacy. But, diplomacy is nothing that Trump is familiar with at all.

Iran has been decimated by US sanctions. The US can effect regime change merely by continuing to tighten the screws. Iran is running out of money to finance their economy and their global terrorism.

The median household income in Iran is ~ $885 per year in 2018.

The thing to do with those quasi sneaky sly devils is just go straight to the source of the problem like the President did. They want to escalate then escalate. Oh my, two more vehicles and at least 5 terrorists down today.

Let's wait to see if you 'yawn' if Iran decides to sink a couple of boats in the Straits of Hormuz. That action alone would be catastrophic for global economies. (yawn)

no flies on you are there....tick....
...yeah...right....issue is that, whilst I agree that this animal deserved to be blown to smithereens, thanks to Trump's infantile understanding of....well.....just about everything really, this could very well turn out to be a reeeaaal schit sandwich. Anyway I am just grateful the whole mess is nothing to do me or us. Your President has made your bed - many of your countrymen but not him - will sleep in it. Time for those thoughts and prayers things to be rolled out....I sure hope not thought....but fear otherwise

Not sure why so many are so afraid of Iran that they are literally wetting their beds over this. I thought the world was supposed to be fighting terrorism and terrorists? Why, all of a sudden, a terrorist being killed is a crisis?

The reason of course is because Trump did it (and is continuing to do it). Some progressive talking head said today ‘right action, wrong President’.

Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, died October 26, 2019 in Idlib, Syria.

Qassem Soleimani, died January 3, 2020 in Baghdad, Iraq.

Sounds like a pretty sound policy to me.

...not really the point though is it...in simple terms...where's the nuance? Why the overt kinetic option? Do the analysts expect any ramifications to be confined to Iraq...or was strategy simply defined by twitter likes..?

And both of those killed many more innocents than Bin Laden which the left counts as Obama’s greatest accomplishments. And both were ironically enabled and financed by Obama. Thanks Obama.

Iran does not confine itself to Iraq. This general was labeled a terrorist in 2007 and has much American blood on his hands. Either we face them head on or just let them continue to cause death and destruction because we are afraid that they might cause death and destruction.

Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, died October 26, 2019 in Idlib, Syria.

Qassem Soleimani, died January 3, 2020 in Baghdad, Iraq.

    Sound policy in my opinion.

You're lucky the "bad soldiers" defend you when you say stuff like this about them.
