Agree with your para. She probably imagined it a castle-y version of Hollywood. Rules, etiquette, conformity, tradition, stability, etc are probably all anathema to someone like her.

As regards Harry, it seems likely he's the one who fell through the net. Furthest from crown, missed almost all the mothering, and probably got half-arsed, distracted fathering from Chuck. He may not have the wit, maturity, and stability to deal with his own lot in life, so being undiscriminating in choice of partner isn't surprising.

I have no idea it was a question not a statement. I do know that they seem to take the royal family pretty seriously and the press hounds them daily. I was curious if they had some kind of standard.

Only for manners, grace, dignity, etc. Long since past worrying about breeding, I think.

    My two cents worth.

I am not encouraged by Meghan's background, history. She was a Yank living the Hollywood life in Tinsel Town. Along comes a randy Harry, steeped in the traditions of the Monarchy, an albatross around his neck. They consider marriage. Meghan goes all gooey at the Princess stuff and jumps on board. Harry gets whatever he reckoned was of value. He saw something in her I can't, for the life of me.

So, they have the fairytale wedding, move into the Royal Machinery and sprog off.

"Hang on," says Meghan, "I am not much fussed anymore being a fete opener, your handbag and broodmare, Harry. I have your Son and that gives me power, real power over you."

Now, here is where the crunch comes.

Harry is a renegade, and here might be his way out. The albatross, remember? "Grandma, I had to do it. I either agreed with Meghan to go to Canada, or it was separation/divorce."

So, Meghan has the best of both Worlds, and Harry has lost his balls. She gets to play Tinsel Town AND be a Princess.

I hope the UK and Liz tells them both to far cough.

I wouldn't personally like to be harassed by papers but I have no desire to be famous. Meghan is all about being famous, she wants the fame and fortune but none of the tradition of being a member of our Royal Family. Meghan is disliked because of how she is perceived to have changed Harry, no one really knows if that is true or not but that's what most people believe. Harry was always the most popular Royal due to his ability to connect with everyone, that seems to have faded since he met Meghan. Now he lectures people on their carbon footprint and racism, which I don't need to tell anyone, is a massive turn off. @Bush Lawyer just posted a short while ago which I 100% agree with.

carbon footprint and racism is only a turn off for a segment of the population, it's a turn on for another segment, almost a requirement.

The societies run by 'rulers of medieval past' survived thousands years, against that our 'modern' one run by insane lunatics will be replaced by caliphates during 21st century. Indeed a great 'achievement', to ruin the mostly successful civilization in the history - the white christian man's - during just one solely century.

I don't know where this idea that the British people hate Meghan comes from. I suspect it comes from those who only read the Sun and the Daily Mail.
In polls, they are the most popular royal couple after the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. A point of contention between William and Kate and the Sussexes.
The usual types here seem to hate her with a passion though. Hate often coming from fear I would guess that her stance on female empowerment and the environment are the cause and they don't like the platform that marrying a Prince has given her.
If they do manage to break free from the restrictions placed on them as members of the royal family you can expect a lot more of them speaking out on political matters. A freedom which is denied to the Royals.

Totally typical white elitist response to being newly hitched to a barely brown person. He reveals his own racism in caring far too much about race. Makes you wonder how much that informed his decision to marry her.

In my mixed race (and far more dramatically mixed than Hazza & Megs) house, the white person doesn't run around freaking out about racism. That would be incredibly weird and patronising.

Utter nonsense. People don't like her for good reason. She's behaved like an opportunist and grifter.

Going forward, that 'speaking out on political matters' is why she'll be hated even further.

It's not only the white christian societies which have been successful. Many in the East are, also.

Yeah, I'm sure there are racists and sexists that will hate her even more.
Weird grifter though, gives up a successful acting career and then tries to cut her self off from massive royal handouts to become more financially independent.

Harry and Meghan would be fine as
King and Queen of Australia & Protectors of New Zealand.

They would find rowdy Aussies giving a more at home feeling
for Harry and Meghan than :flagcanada: and competitive shivering.

They forgot to modernize and it's the aftereffects of the colonialism that they've practiced before, influencing a lot of races mostly from the East.

I’m glad we separated in 1776. Although my ancestors were still in England back then. They didn’t arrive in NYC until 1890.

Bushy, I think there is more to it but you're on the right track.

His relationship with his brother William has deteriorated and that would be his saddest experience of late. Kate's relationship with Megan likewise. Kate conformed easily to royal duties, Megan would have found the pace much harder.

I recall an interview with Harry before he met Megan. William and he as teens would say often that they would never want the throne. That puts yet anther dim light on his future now as an active royal.

I think Harry himself has wanted out and to do it while keeping the royal family intact. I think Megan's lack of endurance in her role and desire to raise their child in a familiar environment close to her home country just fitted in well especially following their recent visit to Canada. Harry has in his mind said "its all yours dad and William"

He's make a fine rescue copper pilot above the pines
I say good luck to them.

Many a Brit would be glad they did to USA also. Much better chance of their kids arriving home at days end.
