My comment wasn't about global warming or California droughts.

And global warming is not a factor now.

If course it was. This thread is entirely about global warming.

Again nothing. Tibet ??? Regardless of what you believe permafrost has been melting and freezing for centuries. Mammoth ivory was recovered from melted permafrost in the middle of the little ice age.

Climate change is responsible for moisture in hay?

Well, I’m sure using the “logic” exhibited elsewhere in this thread, the answer would again be yes.

For example, in 2002 we had a severe drought caused by climate change. Alfalfa requires up to 6-7 inches of rain/irrigation water per cutting for optimum growth rate. This means using center pivot irrigation, it can take a full 30 days to apply the necessary water required for that 30 day growth period between cuttings. So, many producers were impatient about letting the hay dry/cure long enough between cutting and baling because they wanted to get the harvested hay off the field and restart irrigation systems. So, bales ended up with excess internal moisture leading to heating and eventual combustion.

In 2018, because CO2 levels were now above 400 ppm, we had excessive rainfall throughout the summer growing season. Because there was never enough time between rains to properly cure the hay, much was, of course baled wetter than was ideal, resulting in internal heating of bales and subsequent combustion in some cases.

Now that producers have been subjected to dry climate (2002) and wet climate, 2018, opposed to perfect climate they were used to, decisions on when to windrow and bale alfalfa will always be made based on fear of excess rain or complete lack of rain. This will undoubtedly result in more barns, fields, and even whole communities being burned to the ground from combusting bales going forward if you do not vote for politicians with the power to stop this catastrophe.

So you're saying that Climate Change results in both a lack of rain and an excess of rain?

Only if the lack or excess thereof can be construed as having negative consequences. It’s complicated.

So it both DOES and does NOT have negative consequences?

In 2008 a small town I know of had a tornado. Nobody was hurt but the old community center was destroyed. The community built a much nicer facility, even including a library. Ergo, tornadoes are good.

What does that have to do with a lack of rain and an excess of rain?

In a way you are right

    Climate change = excesses

More precipitation but not spread out over a growing season instead in flooding rains. The time intervals between those rains are longer with higher temps = drier conditions = droughts

Again with the conspiracy theory websites that do not know the difference between a ‘charge* and an arrest

The spontaneous combustion question was tongue-in-cheek you do understand that right?

The fires were set by arson. Instead of accusing everyone who points that fact out, maybe suggest the dryness of the brush is caused by climate change. At least then you wouldn't be calling the kettle black.

    Arson always results in arrest.

Well, it is clear that arson at least contributed to the fires. I'll assume that you meant that.

Yes but not all of the charges were arrests OR arson
