Had you worked in middle Eastern intelligence you would or paid attention to news from the middle east. And no he wasn't a hugely popular figure. Feared yes popular no.
By the way that was his picture the Iranian protestors were destroying and with good reason. Only among his fellow theocrats was Solemanni even remotely popular.

:)... lol look at this! Defending these accolades!

How about they just call him a terrorist murdering thug pig? Too hard to do? Responsible for orchestrating numerous hostile acts vs americans, killing hundreds, leaving many disabled.

Yes, all taken out of context. You know we can spin this crap on anyone. Hitler was beloved and a hero for his people, so was bin laden (brave who fought against russians and americans.) Al baghdadi was a brave hero for many sunnis. Why don’t we start praising all these leaders now?

absolutely all these outlets and people were full of praise, just utter disgraceful.

They are 100% propaganda using quotes totally out of context to promote a false image. It is the most disgusting form of lies. If I made the effort I could probably show that Hannity is an ISIS promoter. It is meant to divide. It is shameful. Read what the Admiral's quote to Time was in full, you don't need to look hard it's it my post that you edited out the true part when responding, and tell me how he is mourning over the death.
OP's post is evil and hateful and untruthful.

Trump lies so often that it is impossible to tell the real reason that Trump ordered this strike AFTER three years in office. The Iranian General was a bad guy before Trump took office, so why wait to hit him until our own election was heating up and Trump’s impeachment trail was about to begin?

As Trump himself said - starting a conflict with Iran was a great way to win re-election ( he was talking about Obama at the time).

it’s 100% accurate. Why would Anyone compare him to princess diana or elvis? Why would ny times ever retweet a tweet of a person claiming solemaini made him feel safer? Why would anyone compare him to charles de gaulle? Reiterate that he was a hero?

did we have media do the same with hitler? Bin laden? The same could be said of them.. they were brave, beloved heroes for their followers but you simply do not hurl these accolades at such people, it can get them sympathy!

what angers you is that all these people showered this man with accolades, simply because the more they prop him up, the more bad trump looks. They should all have just called him what he is - a murdering thug who wasn’t remotely as loved as they claim, just pay attention to the protesters recently tearing his posters and condemning him. He was hardly this heroic figure msm makes him out to be, it’s shameful.

Totally false. Hillary Clinton and her supporters, however, loved war.

Because he wasn't just that. There is plenty of argument for taking about his terrorists and para-military activities too, but even that would benefit from detail in context. You can have an honest assessment of who he was as a person, good, bad and indifferent or you can invent a simplistic stereotype of the subhuman monster to make yourself feel better about his assassination (I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s one of the ways he justified killing all his victims to himself).

I see absolutely no issue in discussing those things. Getting a fuller understanding of what drives people like that can be vital in dealing with and preventing similar ones in the future (including ones closer to home – this applies to the likes of mass-murderers and domestic terrorists too). That doesn’t mean anyone is “praising” them any more than the quotes you raised in the OP was “mourning” him. Speaking the unvarnished truth is not praise unless that unvarnished truth is praiseworthy in itself (which in none of these cases it is).

what do you consider comparing him to elvis or princess diana? Or charles de gaulle? What is definition of praise to you?

Just because he fought America doesn’t make him a “bad guy.” Why is this so hard to understand...?

A list without references/sources so that they may not be read in their full context.

Anyone in America mourning his death a traitor. They should be mourning the fact he ever lived.

The Elvis and Diana quote wasn’t comparing them as individuals, it was apparently comparing the public response to his death by (some) Iranians.

I’m still not clear what the context of the Charles Du Gaulle reference was (do you even know?). Du Gaulle was a somewhat controversial figure during and after the war but was also celebrated by a lot of French people for obvious reasons so there are all sorts of different things it could be referring to. I don’t see how you can attack and condemn the speaker without first establishing that context.

Praise would involve specifically celebrating and approving of some action or characteristic. Making simple statements of fact (or even just opinion) about characteristics he might have had or shared with other people isn’t praise in itself. Making simple statements of fact about how other people might have perceived him most certainly isn’t.

Anyone fighting against your own nation is considered a bad guy, why is that so hard to understand?

Good catch! Was there additional context to the several -other- quotes in the OP? I would sincerely like to see it because omitting necessary context annoys me also.

I'm sure you will also apply the same reasoning where necessary context is omitted and "spit on" the following lies of omission too, right?

    1. Trump said he could shoot someone...
    2. Trump made fun of a disabled reporter.
    3. Trump has gone bankrupt 5 times.
    4. Trump called white supremacists "fine people."
    5. Trump admitted to sexually assaulting women.
    6. Trump lied that thousands of Muslims in the U.S. celebrated 9/11.
    7. Trump called Mexicans rapists.
    8. Trump called illegal aliens "animals."
    9. Trump was responsible for putting kids in cages at the Border.
    10. Trump removed the LGBTQ section from the Census.
    11. Trump misquoted an African proverb as Irish.
    12. Trump sought to end the Meals on Wheels program
    13. Trump attacked a Gold Star family.

etc. This could go on for a whole page-capped thread, the out of context lies about Trump and "Trump's lies" are so numerous throughout MSM.

To the topic, I cannot figure out the rationale for taking the side of Iran in this case other than mass hysteria TDS. Ostensibly, it's about avoiding war, but people who want to avoid war simply say that and criticize based on that. They don't lionize U.S. enemies.

That would depend on your conception of a “bad guy.” A geopolitical enemy? Sure. But some self-righteous characters are pretending that he’s burning in hell or something. They’re so cute. ;)

Tells us something about the level of delusion of the "new" media these days. Walter Cronkite would be puking if he were still here.

But maybe you've heard of Iran's Quds force, rocket attacks on the green zone in Iraq, or the shape charged road side bombs Iran gave to al Qaeda, which killed and maimed our troops in Iraq. Or you may have heard any number of terror attacks by Hezbollah that killed and injured many thousands of people around the world. Suleimani was the mastermind for all of those.

Well, one thing is for sure--the government will not be able to resurrect Soleimani from the grave for PR like they did with Osama. :)

And they just keep going, it's as if our US news media look upon Iran as a beloved US ally.

ABC’s Raddatz is all tore up that Iran’s unity is shattered by these awful anti-regime protests:

“In the aftermath of Soleimani’s death, Iranians were united, angrily protesting against the United States drone strike on Soleimani. Now, Iran’s unity shattered. Iranian protesters ripping down posters of Soleimani, the slain military leader, and some protesters refusing to trample the image of an American flag.”
