You can read the rules package here: https://www.npr.org/2020/01/20/7980...t-plan-for-senate-impeachment-trial-procedure

It is not terribly shocking to learn that McConnell lied when he said that the Senate would follow the model laid out during the Clinton Senate Impeachment Proceeding. And this rule proposal (which still requires 51 votes to pass) does significantly vary.

For example, the opening 24 hours of argument for each side must now be made over the course of two days instead of three. With the breaks built in for bathroom or food, that means that each day will last from 1 pm (the start on Wednesday) until 2 or 3 am in the morning, in all likelihood. Because that is the best time for transparency to take place or something.

Speaking of transparency, the McConnell rules also dictate that Reporters will be confined to a roped off area and that only one camera will be in use. Whether that camera remains on or off during the proceedings is solely within the hands of a majority of the Senate.

Another significant alteration from the Clinton Model is the fact that documents previously admitted before the House will not automatically be admitted before the Senate. Instead, a vote will take place to decide their admittance. Republicans have, for weeks now, demanded that the Senate limit themselves to evidence considered by the House and now McConnell has put forth an option for excluding even some of that evidence.

Finally, the Clinton model is being altered into the McConnell model by permitting the White House - at any point from what I can tell - to make a motion to dismiss the charges, even though Senate Republicans have repeatedly said that they do not have the votes for such a motion.

Ok let me get this straight your calling McConnell a liar because he's giving the prosecution and defense the same amount of time just one day less to do it. All documents need a vote to be admitted, in other words unverified BS won't get in vs what Clinton had was years of investigation and documentation verified (example just last week the crazy Ukrainian sent docs over and then Shifty and eye bags said it wasn't there job to verify but they were sending to Senate). Lastly, because the WH can make a motion to dismiss although it takes a vote to do so, wasn't there a vote to dismiss the Clinton impeachment? All seems pretty lame.

Democrats in the house made their own rules and the GOP got to sit in the back of the bus and we were told by Lefties far and wide those are the breaks, too bad, so sad. So now they are crying that the GOP gets to set the rules in the senate. Maybe they should take their ball and go home.:roflol:

    Pot kettle black.

After the dung heap on the house. The Senate Republicans can do whatever the hell they want and the Democrats can just shut up about it..

You must mean Lev Parnas. He was born in Ukraine when it was still part of the USSR and came here as a child. He's a U.S. citizen.

I doubt the majority of the electorate would stand for a "Star Chamber" proceeding w/o TV. Nor do I think a motion, by the WH, to dismiss would carry and if it did, Democrats would win back the Senate this year. The main goal of Democrats, IMO, as of now, is to secure a Senate majority of 51+ votes to convict, even if it falls short of the 67 votes needed to convict. Could be wrong, but I expect more damaging information to Trump to come out - one way or the other - during the course of the trial.

Lol... who already voted against witnesses in the house????

Adam shiit, i mean that literally he is Shiit. Promised numerous times in numerous publications that we would soon hear from the whistleblower.
He can go to fing hell.. Senate shouldn't allow that horrible wretch of a scumbag human being in the door. He's nothing but a proven lying peice of political hack filth.
He can take his googly eyed face and go away..

If your offended by the truth pick better heros.

Same exact thing goes for Nancy Pelosi. She is a bad person and a lying scumbag.

The house dumbys have no evidence, denied everything the Republicans wanted. The Senate's resonable position would be to tell the Democrats to go pound sand. That would be as close to justice as were gonna get.

I told everyone that Pelosi ought not walk into this fraudulent trial. She should send over the articles, but not permit house managers to prosecute in front of jury nullifiers. Let the Senate dismiss the charges for lack of prosecuting counsel, and let the impeachment stand,. Its better than an acquittal after a fake trial. Its a total sham and set up.

Nah. If they did that, they would rightly be vilified for it. Better to let it play out, and see where the chips fall. This ain't over yet.

Now we are stuck arguing process and that is nothing but a loser. The trial was rigged by the President in cahoots with McConnell and we are talking about the number of days, and where reporters get to stand, to prove it. You can't stand in the courtroom and make your case, and then decry the process as illegitimate that you participated in, after the verdict.
