I know what God the word Creator refers to - and know what the purpose of putting it there was.

I was wondering if you did ? and given your answer - am still wondering.

Would you like to go first on what Jefferson thought - "Mr Jefferson 51" - or do you need me to educate you.

Your claim is that a specific document the DOI -and the principles therein aka - The Founding Principles 1) have no weight in our legal system .. and now 2) have no relevance to our legal system.

OK - I hear your claim - but, I do not agree with it.

Professor John Eidsmoe writes: "The role of the Declaration of Independence in American law is often misconstrued. Some believe the Declaration is simply a statement of ideas that has no legal force whatsoever today. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Declaration has been repeatedly cited by the U.S. Supreme Court as part of the fundamental law of the United States of America.https://nccs.net/blogs/articles/the-declaration-of-independence-part-of-american-law

So there is one other that disagree's with your claim as well - the link is fairly lengthy - and you will find more refutation of your claim.

The constitution is a set of rules - the Job of SCOTUS is to interpret those rules as per the founding principles - and principles of a constitutional republic - the two going hand in hand.

It is unfortunate that you view the founding principles - those which were put in place as safeguards to essential liberty - so lowly.

Methinks you need to rethink your position.

define Establishment .. have we not done this previously ? perhaps not.

Establishment - when I use the term means - Political and Bureaucratic Elite .. and - the big money influences that pull the strings.

You can not separate these things. What about the 3 Establishment insider politicians you mentioned - so what that they have been there a long time. The Establishment is not limited to the political class - not even close.

How about your daughter dating the head of the puppet string pullers... would that count for at least some Establishment street cred ? I can give more .. but -does this alone not do ?

The coach who got canned knelt on the 50 yard line and prayed.

As usual, he wasn't praying in secret as instructed in the Bible

He had to do it in the middle of the field, in front of the crowd, as what Matthew called a hypocrite. I guess the school district had read Matthew.

Let me guess, Matthew was a liberal and a Hillary lover?

I think evolutionary theory is on par with the theory of gravity. We share 98% of our dna with chimpanzees. Dna is passed along by the sperm and egg of the parents, so the question we'd have to ask is where did the identical 98% dna come from?

As far as the psychological theories, I agree--those are a different thing.

Don't get me wrong i believe in survival of the fittest and adaptation of species.
I don't believe that species change into other species, we need to see it happen in person, in nature.

I was under the impression that he was one of God's sons. One of the religions that predated the Old Testiment was one of a mother goddess and her seven sons. Each is reported to have done a day of creation that God now takes credit for. The seventh son rested.

The reality is many Christians are far left liberals. And early Christians practiced a form of communism. The "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954.

Exactly so. The discovery of DNA, DNA sequencing, fossil records, and radiometric dating proves evolution to anyone who has not suspended their critical thinking.

To a great extent, we have been fundamentally transformed from a nation of people endowed by their Creator with certain and unalienable rights into a nation of people endowed by each other with uncertain and arbitrary entitlements.

By acknowledging our Creator, we return to what really makes America great.

In person? In general evolutionary change is a long slow process. So unless you live a million years or so you aren't going to see much happen. There are exceptions such as the species of mosquito that lives in subways.

As kid growing up, I always played football. From elementary age through high school, all games were preceded by a team prayer. I used to always look around and see who else also hadn't fallen for the god delusion.

It was doubly absurd. Did God pick winners and losers in athletic competitions, based on who prays more? I always thought winning was a result of putting in more effort than the other guy. The idea of God cheating for or against me seems ridiculous, a faery tale way of looking at the world.

As a conservative who does not believe in a magic sky man I have to ask why you link progressive with a lack of religious belief? You don't think there are progressive Christians?

If God is an NFL fan, he hates the Redskins. Or maybe he hates the owner, Daniel Snider.

It isn't in the script. If it was in the script, then he could do it. He is restrained by what is written down, as are all characters in books.

This is simply a restatement of the idea of natural rights (as per John Locke) as opposed to the concept of the natural right of kings.

Christians have imposed on my rights. I can't legally buy a beer in my State until after 1:00 PM on Sunday. How is this justified?

Eh?? I don't see the relevance or even how anything is being expressed that way in any case, and it doesn't seem to matter in this context anyway

Interesting, I 'd not heard that.

There are a relative handful of of Christian progressives and secular conservatives. Both are small compared to the reverse in each group. Both parties are based on multiple groupings. Republicans are made up of economic conservatives, national security conservatives, and religious social conservatives. Some individuals fit into two or all three groups such as myself. We know that the party needs all three legs in order to stand up and win elections. Now we have hybrid conservatives of all three stripes who are also populists. This grows the party. When one group in the GOP is disaffected and largely sits out an election democrats usually win. Democrats of course have their own divisions.

John Locke and Edmund Burke were popular with the founders as well as with modern conservatives.
