Not true. Almost everyone would like to keep their current lousy job and complain about it on the Internet. If they actually wanted to get a better job, they'd get one. It's actually quite easy to do.

There are exceptions, people who have tragic accidents or illnesses, etc., but otherwise there is no one less fortunate than you. There are only those who make bad choices and then are unwilling to accept the consequences of their choices.

I've known plenty of couples who both make minimum wage or very near to minimum wage but have lived within their means, owned homes, reasonably new cars, put their children through college - without government loans, etc. Personal responsibility and personal accountability.

    1. Compared to what? Ever seen the American slaves in India, China, Vietnam, Nigeria? The poorest in America live pretty damn good compared to most of the rest of the world.

    2. It's not supposed to be easy to get a job that pays more. To earn more you have to work harder and work smarter.

    3. You're absolutely right. If we'd quit paying people to not work, they'd take those low-paying jobs in a heartbeat... or in a stomach growl.

Programmer/software developers tend not to wear suits to work, either.

Yeah. My wife was a web page security analyst and she always worked in her PJs. She was a teleworker.

Thanks. The Army was good to me so no complaints. Well, some but they don't matter enough to waste time on.

Isn't it amazing how sanctimonious aholes can claim that it's "easy" to make $100K a year or better?

Are you folks fooled by that nonsense?

Do you really think that if you haven't been that successful that you're stupid and lazy like they claim?

That's what I think all extreme righties have in common: Lack of ability to put themselves in someone else's shoes. Just that personality trait by itself can account for a lot of their support for policies, for example on immigration, foreign wars, and welfare.

There are alot of full-time or part-time WFH employees in tech fields and those that show up at the office tend to wear jeans and sneakers. On bonus point days, they're coupled with trendy t-shirts bearing logos from tech companies like Google, Oracle, Red Hat, GitHub, AWS, Facebook or Pivotal. They're smart and well paid.

I contributed all my into my social security and will not get a return of anything to speak of on those contributions most likely will lose money andwould have voluntarily left the program years ago. Same with Medicare which the government forces me onto I would have opted out years ago had the government allowed be. And I still work and pay hugely into both.

And what puts you in a position to know what shoes those on the right have worn?

When I own stock in a company or corporation I own part of that company, I am an owner. People are hired by the owners to run the company.

What do you think of “right wingers” who have lived in abject poverty and have become very successful? Many have friends who were irresponsible and are still poor. They know both sides and the path between the sides. Do their opinions count?

    Work for welfare.

Wonder how many people on welfare are working cash-under-the-table jobs or making a lucrative living in the black market drugs/prostitution "industries"?

Pass work-for-welfare legislation and see how many drop off the rolls We'd likely only be responsible for people who are truly physically or mentally able to work.

Every one who works has a "right" to earn a federally mandated minimum wage and a social "right" not to be discriminated against based on race/sex if they are qualified to do the labor.
