What If We Found A 10th Dimension? | Unveiled

Sometime in the past people were asking what can be 10 dimensions and what are they. This Youtube video describes the dimensions of String Theory. I thought it was neat.

Our minds are holding and creating a tenth dimension as soon as we imagine it. Think the Akashic record on our neural hard drive with thought as the computer.

Hard to even imagine the 4th Dim

I tell myself I need to be at this place and this time .
As I travel in space and time to reach it —that is the 4th Dim
My movement through space and having a set time

You are correct that our movement through time is movement through a 4th dimension. Einstein showed us that.

And space !! Newton thought Time/Space were absolute but Einstein thought they were flexible

The "higher dims" have only been proven by math and have yet to completely proven.
They have predicted new particles from STring Theory.
If its true, I dont want to ever think about several extra dims that are all around us but we cannot see or sense lol

String theory was postulated a long time ago and has eaten up stupendous amounts of theoretical physicist time. In fact, stuff like this has momentum in that those studying the topic become the ones guiding the next generation. A professor steeped in string theory is likely to direct phd candidates to string theory related topics. Rinse and repeat.

I'm pretty doubtful. And, string theory isn't the only direction in trying to figure out what's really going on.

Of course there could still be other dimensions.

Neat? A neat narrative for a Hollywood script and a total misunderstanding of String and M-Theory, both math constructs seeking a TOE, both yet that yet have yielded testable predictions. Then too, there are alternate proposed models being worked on that some champion, such as a new pretty girl with curls, Loop Quantum Theory, it too lacking testable predictions. And, in recent years, at least 2 models based on geometric constructs that have fans as having promise. Here is one

All these models are seeking to the mystery of gravity at all scales.
Thus far, on a cosmological scale, Theory of Relativity has proven useful for understanding phenomena at large scales, and the Standard Model of Physics, often considered the most successful theory ever developed have yet to be displaced.
If I were to share a video on String Theory, there are many out there with people, like Brian Green, that do a better job of explaining without the hyperbole of becoming all knowing.

BTW, the experiments at CERN have resulted in predictions of the Standard Model of Physics, and have as of yet, resulted in any observations suggesting the a new area of discovery beyond the SM. The SM even has hints of an what a graviton might be.
Few really believe the SM is yet complete and even Einstein thought there was something beyond his model; he spent much of his life trying to figure that.

While I suggested String theory was untestable, finding evidence of other dimensions is something many theorists had some hope might be seen at CERN. In collision results, everything must be accounted for in terms of energy traces; the energy before a collision must be balanced by the energy measured after a collision. Should the energy after a collision be less than the input, and the result verified, it would be a strong indicator of another dimension. It hasn’t been observed yet, but there is yet a huge amount of data yet analyzed and you to can participate.

    Good post.

i really wish we had better langage for discriminating between theoretical physics and science - experimental science where hpotheses actually get tested.

I'm all in favor of theoretical physics, as experimentalists need ideas on where to look. But, I think we need to be able to discern the difference.

We can, however, the education system in the US doesn’t equip most students with an understanding of the tools and methods for understanding how to evaluate claims made in the name of science; hell, they don’t even teach basic personal finance.
Want to sample the results of our education system?

    Two of my favorite questions:
When was the War of 1812 fought?
Where was the American Civil War fought?
Simple questions, but then ask a question of the Standard Model of quantum mechanics or how to read the Periodic tableland, or even a simple statistics question like is it possible in flipping a coin to have a result of 1000 heads out of 1000 flips; I will bet many posting here can’t answer that one.
