Stop Panic Buying Toilet Paper, Australia Is Fine
With the outbreak of coronavirus, supermarkets have been emptied of a number of essential supplies but one is the most alarming — toilet paper. While no one wants to live through the world's demise without a roll of loo paper, the reality is Australia's not likely to run out of toilet paper any time soon. Here's why.
Australia has three major toilet paper suppliers serving you all your dunny sheet needs — Kimberly-Clark Australia, Asaleo and ABC Tissue — but right now, many of the major supermarkets' shelves that would usually be filled with them are all but empty.

[IMG]A Coles in Sydney's Asquith facing toilet paper shortages. Image: Alex Kidman
In an address to the nation, Prime Minister Scott Morrison acknowledged the panic had led a number of stores to run out but companies like Kimberly-Clark Australia, responsible for Kleenex toilet paper, had shifted manufacturing to South Australia to ensure supply wasn't affected by the coronvirus outbreak.

"I am sure that will come as a great relief to everybody," Morrison said. "That's the economy in motion, that is private companies assessing their own risk plans and responding to them."

A spokesperson for Kimberly-Clark Australia has told Lifehacker Australia the shortages some customers are seeing are due to panic buying spikes but supplies will remain consistent.

"Kleenex toilet paper for Australia and NZ is made at our Mill in South Australia so whilst we are seeing increased demand by consumers, we have sufficient supply," the spokesperson said.

"We're now working with our customers to replenish supermarket shelves faster."

Quilton's parent company, ABC Tissue, also told us demand has soared recently but its working to meet it.

"Demand for tissue products has increased in the last few weeks," an ABC Tissue spokesperson said to Lifehacker Australia. "Our mission is [to] work efficiently and communicate effectively with our retail partners to enable consumers to buy our products when they want and where they want.

This means the sudden spike in demand caused by panic buying is the primary reason why there's a sudden scarcity in some stores around Australia — not coronavirus affecting supply lines. It's also understood some of Australia's toilet paper suppliers source the raw materials from Brazil and Scandinavian countries, which are not being greatly affected by the virus at this time.

With manufacturing happening within the country, a factory shutdown, like those occurring in affected countries, would need to happen for any flow-on effect and at the moment, it's not a likely scenario.

Lifehacker Australia has contacted Asaleo, Sorbent's producers and will update with its response shortly. Additionally, we asked Aldi if its brand's supplies would be affected.

In the meantime, if you must panic buy, please don't do it with toilet paper. Other people need it too. Or better yet, sensibly stockpile products you'd use anyway.

    from Lifehacker.

Yep...all we need now is for Scumo to ban travel from Italy to Australia...after all travellers from Italy
have passed the virus on to 32 other countries....
Oh and someone should ask Scumo why he is turning a blind eye to Australian universities offering
thousands of dollars to Chinese students to return to their studies....
Looks like Scumo is having a bit each way here...cant upset China too much now, can we....
Anyway...according to Scumo everythings going to be fine, just go about your normal every day to day
life....and then guess what, the Australia media whores tell us all that the virus will get worse in April/May and then spike in August......I wonder what the reason is behind the media whores deliberately creating
    such hysteria......

Don't you have the Daily Mail in Australia?
That's what I plan to use in case of shortages.

My wife was little concerned of course, but for some reason me saying 'relax, we have plenty of Reflex copy paper in the home office' did not seem to reassure. Result off I go to pick up an 'emergency' 12 pack.

Scumo is conning the Australian peasants...
He is turning a blind eye to Chinese students returning to Australian universities, who are being paid thousands of dollars by the Universities to assist in their return...
Meanwhile, Scumo blames the impending cold weather for an increase in the infections...
What a con...Scumo just shrugs his shoulders and says "its just the weather..."
Meanwhile, the corona virus spreads further due to returning Chinese students...
And he jokingly says for everyone to go about their normal every day lives as he will be watching his favourite football teams when and wherever they play....
He continues to be a condescending, arrogant turd with his usual smug
attitude to all questions asked of him...
    What a con....

Police taser man after toilet paper argument in Big W store

A NSW man has been tasered by police after getting into an argument with staff over toilet paper at a Big W store.

Police were called to the Tamworth Shoppingworld store about 10am after reports the man had assaulted two people at the store in Bridge Street.
Police were told the man became aggressive over stock unavailability and threw boxes of tissues at a female staff member and walked off.

"Police have been told a 50-year-old man began to argue with a staff members and another customer," a NSW Police spokesperson told nine.com.au.

When a female customer approached the man, he allegedly grabbed her around the throat before she was assisted by another customer. No injuries have been reported.

Nine.com.au understands the argument was over toilet paper, which has become a scarce commodity with stocks wiped out across the country due to coronavirus fears.

The man then left the store and purchased items from a supermarket, where police approached him.

Elon Musk's Battery Farm Is an Undeniable Success

    • The battery backup Elon Musk built to win a bet has saved South Australia tens of millions of dollars.

    • The record-setting "battery" is made of Tesla PowerPacks and helps stabilize the local grid.

    • Rural South Australia experiences bad blackouts each summer.

More than two years after winning an electricity bet, Elon Musk’s resulting Australian solar and wind farm is an almost total success. The facility powers rural South Australia, whose population density falls between Wyoming and Alaska, the two least dense U.S. states.

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, British scientists found
traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and
came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a
telephone network more than 150 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the British, in the weeks that followed,
an American archaeologist dug to a depth of
20 feet, and shortly after, a story published in the New York Times:
"American archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire,
    have concluded that their ancestors
already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years
    earlier than the British".

One week later, Australia's Northern Territory Times, reported the following.
"After digging as deep as 30 feet in his backyard in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory,
aboriginal Billi Bunji, a self taught archaeologist, reported that he found
    absolutely F***-all.
Billi has therefore concluded that 250years ago,
    Australia had already gone wireless..."

Makes me feel bloody proud to be Australian!

    Poor, poor man!

Australia's Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a statement, Dutton said he woke up on Friday morning with a temperature and sore throat.

'I immediately contacted the Queensland Department of Health and was subsequently tested for COVID-19. I was advised by Queensland Health this afternoon that the test had returned positive,' he said.

'It is the policy of Queensland Health that anyone who tests positive is to be admitted into hospital and I have complied with their advice.'

'I feel fine and will provide an update in due course.'

Where in the world has Dutton been?

Dutton visited a number of locations in recent days prior to coming down with symptoms.

Most recently he attended a meeting with the national security committee on Thursday. That meeting included Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

He is also understood to have attended a full cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

I've messages from Australians on Twitter hopping Dutton dies.

That really encapsulates the left at the moment, just a bunch of aHoles.

If he has associated with Morrison and Morrison goes off to the boneheadball tomorrow, then
I can only say that Morrison is totally irresponsible.

He’s done very little about the illegal migration by visa overstayers who come by aeroplane, the major source of illegal migration.
Ps. Saving thousands of lives wasn’t his prime objective, just a happy side result.
