We actually pay for it before we get old. We pay a percentage of our earnings into FICA.

Health care is available to the poor and folks with no insurance, you'll just have to stand in line to get it. I know, I went 7 years with no health insurance. I went to the County Health Center for regular stuff and the County Hospital if I needed anything else. Did I have to wait in line...yep. Did it suck...yep. But, I wasn't in a position for full time employment and company sponsored health care. Am I now...yep. I work hard for a Cadillac Health Plan at the age of 61 with disabilities. If I can still work after being run over by a 28,000 lb Armored Truck on the highway at 55 mph, for those that simply can't there is SSI Disability/Medicare. For those that won't, go wait in line at the County, you'll get care.

If your employer doesn't get any income for the next two months, can you be certain that you'll still have a job?

The right-wingers (and left- top- and bottom-wingers) who did not want and do not have medical insurance and who might need a coronavirus test will pay for the test themselves.... willingly. DUH! Do you have the silly notion that those people do not understand and accept this????

For the record the Obamacare mandate was adamantly structured as a penalty since it otherwise would have been an unconstitutional bill: all tax bills must originate in the House, and the ACA originated in the Senate, the Senate's slippery empty shell trick not withstanding. But Chief Justice Roberts saw that a penalty to force someone to buy something would itself be unconstitutional so he literally rewrote the law in real time calling the mandate a tax. The unconstitutionality of a tax bill originating in the Senate simply fell off the back of the wagon and was slid into the ditch.

Will the willfully uninsured be able to pay for the test? Yes. Will they be able to pay for 1+ week on a ventilator in an IC unit? Probably not. You and I will foot the bill.

You claim people without insurance are right-wingers. Please support your statement.

Who, specifically, is claiming that CV-19 doesn't exist? Documentation please.

If a person is not sick, has no expectation that they have been exposed to someone who is sick, is not exhibiting symptoms of a virus (any virus) why would they seek a test? For anyone who feels sick, is welcome to self-quarantine. That does not make them a national health risk.

Exactly. The people without insurance talking about paying for their own healthcare are clearly referring to the occasional office visit and very small potato issues. If these people had to pay for ongoing cancer treatments or were in a severe car accident that required multiple surgeries and long-term PT/OT they would be on their knees thanking Obama for no pre-ex so they could game the system obtain health insurance to cover the high costs they would incur. Of course we'll now see replies to my post from these people denying that would be the case but we all know it's BS.

So the government is offering free testing and treatment to those uninsured?

Good question. And why is it acceptable for the government to dip its toe in the socialist pond for this particular issue? I've been reading for days how the flu is vastly more dangerous to the population - but the government isn't willing to assist the uninsured with that. Nor are they willing to help the uninsured for cancer treatments. Why coronavirus?

Personally, I'm looking for the 'trickle down economics' to kick in - I'd like to see it at work. Perhaps corporations like Walmart could 'trickle down' some financial assistance for their employees who cannot afford testing or treatment.

Who cares? Anybody who doesn't have insurance because they would pay for their own medical needs when they needed it.

Thank God for liberals, then. And through history, it's how it's always been. Always right-wingers who have denied AGW, the dangers of smoking, the Holocaust, Evolution, that the earth was not flat and revolved around the Sun, ... In the end, History ends up teaching us how ridiculous they were. But before history catches up with them, they are a danger to society.

You see, the typical suspects only cry about socialism when they think it is their tax money going to someone else, who they feel is less deserving. When THEY can benefit from the government gravy train themselves, they all of a sudden don't mind.

This tragedy hits home because EVERYONE could be affected, not just leftists, or the "moochers", or the poor, the virus doesn't care about your social status. That's why Trump fans won't complain about this particular case of socialism.

All but the most virulent of ideological fanatics are now feeling a hint of the Bern from the blatant need for universal coverage and access to needed medical care that is essential to responsibly confronting the pandemic.

Kudos to Rep. Katie Porter who, during his Congressional testimony, extracted from Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the promise that , in the United States, coronavirus testing would be free for all Americans. That "socialism!", of course, benefits all Americans.

Backward states that failed to expand Medicaid are burdened by a large portion of the 87 million Americans uninsured or underinsured under Trumpery. Twenty-five states failed to take up the Obamacare Medicaid expansion.

Social transmission of the virus is facilitated by having a huge segment of the populace who are far less likely to be diagnosed and precautions against transmission taken. The consequent cost, born by the taxpayer, will far exceed the cost of covering everyone, a bloated cost paid in lives and treasure.

Here's the thing, under Obamacare money was taken from us to pay for products we couldn't afford to use even if we needed it.
It utterly destroyed my savings, i am still recovering from those lost wages that resulted in credit card debt.

People without insurance are in the same boat now as they were UNDER Obamacare.
When will the left learn that health care amd health insurance are absolutely not the same thing.

If you cannot afford a doctor's visit you cannot afford health insurance, under Obamacare you had to be able to afford both because the plans were crap.

Not me. But I do hope there is an adult near you who will "make you" Even if they have to grab you by the ear and drag you to a clinic.

So, does that mean you'll cough up the $500 that you are "not entitled to" for your test?

So basically your employer wanted to save money by increasing the deductibles and copays. Work for a better company. BTW...the high deductible plan trend started in 2004....so it really has nothing to do with Obamacare.

It most certainly is NOT "their own problem"! It's the problem of everybody they infect!!!

Maybe you guys will start to understand that the reason for socialized medicine are socialized illnesses.
