    Ouch.

I moved 80% out of stocks 5 weeks ago, so I'm only down about 2%. Starting to look at AMZN for the slow move back in - people will need to buy stuff without going to the stores.

You haven't lost anything until you sell at a loss. Don't panic, ride it out, and bargain shop while it's down!

AMZN just yesterday announced hiring 100,000 to handle increased demand.

Just a follow up, was that a loss from your record high, or from what you had initially invested?

Yeah I'm lucky I'm too poor to play with the stock market. But yeah, that's scary to think that you're going to lose a lot of money because of the stock markets crashing. If I lost 15% of my income, I probably wouldn't be able to afford food.

The big market question: Do you think coronavirus will still be running the country deeper down into the doldrums a year from now, or do you think most people will have their work and their hope back with life in general improving?

Obviously it will, but it is a matter of time. As @Hotdogr said, "You haven't lost anything until you sell at a loss."

You should have been like the 1%. They thanked the Chinese for delaying the virus so that they could make gold gains to then 'invest' in hedge fund 'disaster capitalism'.

And they say capitalism ain't broke...

I didn't say you were. I was merely noting that the 1% have still made gains from disaster capitalism.

I for one dont think your rich either. But put into worldly Perspective you are VERY RICH. 120K @ 15% HELLO !
90% are not worth more than 100k. half dont have 400 in the bank, etc.
Glad you are doing good, be proud of it... I took mine out except for GOLD stocks. More is coming, yep, this was a buying oppurtunity if you can get back out soon

If you haven't pulled out yet I would just sit on it unless you need the money. I really needed to get rid of some losers I needed to cut loose along time ago. Good companies with good balance sheets more than likely survive. I don't believe recovery will be very fast. I'm down about 12% and most of that is Boeing.

Amzn has been a strange stock for me. I ride it up a $100 a share and sell it. Let it fall back a hundred and rebuy it. If it falls about $30 Monday I'll rebuy it. Not sure how I'll feel about once things open up again. I'm in the camp that we have to go down more before it's safe. We shop at Kroger and Costco and between the two I would buy Costco. Walmart? I know a lot of people love Walmart but I have only shopped in one twice that I can think of. They were the first killers of small business. The only retail stock I've been buying on big dips is Home Depot.

Is it your position that people should not be considering their financial futures at this point in time?

The perspective I have is that people are dying everyday and less than 1% from Coronavirus. If I needed to put fear in my life I would move to Chicago and find me a place near Cabrini - Green. Now if you need a tip for some coronavirus stocks while people are dying try CSV, STON, or MATW. (for disclosure purpose's I do not own any of the stocks mentioned.

I'm sitting isolated just like everyone else. I haven't quit living though and call everyone in my family, and let them know, if they need anything I'm here to help. Some other perspectives:

    1. I really didn't need to go out and eat once or twice a week. My wife can cook.

    2. 20% tips to the waitress for 10 minutes work is a whole lot more than I make an hour.

    3. The tires on my pick-up will last me a very long time at the rate their being used now.

    4. Over supply of world oil is breaking my heart at $ 1.00 a Gal.

    5. My dogs love me when I take them for a walk.

    6. My wife's giving me a second look. (At my age that's a blessing)

    7. Honey - Do's aren't so bad when you have time to do them.

    8. I have 1000's of songs that I haven't heard in a long time. (Memories really are made of this)

    9. I have a couple books I'm thinking about reading.

    10. I have more time to be on the internet and the Political Forum. ( Lucky You):gop::deadhorse:
