1. I find it interesting you believe SAS dudes are so evil they will commit cold blooded murder, but so saintly they won’t lie. Whatever the truth is here, your approach is not logical.

 

I was diagnosed with PTSD after my second year long tour, then deployed two more times. I look at it the opposite way. I see executing the bomb maker as the high moral ground. Following the rules of engagement, etc, would uneccesarily put my soldier's lives in danger. The atrocity is losing your brothers to an IED that you could have prevented if you did the right thing and killed that bastard in the desert.

 

One would think that. But we weren't there at that moment. I can only surmise their missions are generally related to 9/11, suppressing the Taliban and terrorist groups. Specifically, it's probably classified or on a need to know basis.
It doesn't make sense that he murdered the young man for no good reason. If he did, he should be removed and probably treated for psychological issues. But animus as a default response emotion towards one own soldier is as despicable as the charge, imo.

 

Join SAS and show them the correct way.

The Taliban did not commit 9/11. They did shelter Ben Laden who Bush allowed to escape into Pakistan. I posted one link on how this occurred, but the information is readily available from multiple sources. Once Ben Laden escaped there was no further reason to stay in Afghanistan and risk the lives of US soldiers. The Taliban did prohibit the poppy growing while they were in charge which the puppet government we support does not. This idea that being in Afghanistan supports a war on terror is simply not supported by facts which is why Trump is correct in wanting to negotiate a settlement of this endless war.

 

Did you watch the video? The bomb maker was not the guy executed by the SAS soldier. Per the video, the SAS directed an Afghan soldier to execute the bomb maker. The guy the SAS soldier executed after asking "should I drop this c***" was not a bomb maker. He was an unarmed individual in a field and the claim was he might have had a radio which he did not. It is likely he was not an insurgent. If you cannot follow the rules of engagement and lawful orders you are in the wrong line of work.

Like I said before, civilians typically dont get it, nor will they ever. You have to experience it to fully grasp the situation.

Long story short, I shot a guy once who didnt have a weapon. We were being mortared, and he seemed very interested in the action. He didnt have a cell phone or a radio that I could see, but given the circumstances (convoy was at a choke point with disabled vehicles taking IDF) and the fact he was acting suspicious (I said it before, you can tell who bad guys are), I had all the justification I needed.

Anyway, after he was removed from the action, the IDF stopped.

Was it because that guy was a spotter? Was he just an innocent bystander? I dont know, and I dont care. The IDF stopped, so I made the right call.

Combat is not black and white. There is far more gray than most people will ever know.

 

Did you watch the video? Apparently not. The guy I saw shot on the video was in custody, kneeling with his hands in the air? And executed.

They were not caught on film, the classified material was stolen... this is a deliberate smear campaign... they had to go back 8 years to find this classified material. Someone needs to be locked up and it's not the guy in the video, these issues must be dealt with internally by people capable of taking circumstances & dangers into account.

All you see & hear is what he said, you completely miss the environment, the potential for danger, hidden weapons, others hiding or explosives. We also know how American soldiers were killed because they didn't kill.... the Marcus Lutrell story. The ignorant will ignore all of these factors

The Taliban is made out of Afghans, remember. And the US has been fighting this losing war for 20 years.
Their hearts and minds strategy failed in Iraq as well.

What circumstances do you think justified executing a man on his knees with his hands in the air? There was no firefight in progress. Since the guy asked about wasting the c*** there was no apparent urgency. Maybe there is some political agenda in exposing this execution but it is what it is. If people don't want to be nailed years later for war crimes, don't commit war crimes. You act like the soldier committing the war crime is a victim.

The video shows all that needs to be shown. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is worth a million.

If you wish to argue that it is unfair to hold infantry accountable whilst bombardiers are free to kill numerous civilians in an institutionally assigned combat mission role for both then I certainly have some sympathy to that position, but the video referenced in the OP is pretty persuasive murder. One on one and unnecessary.
