I stock up on water, I distill it from my tap.

Ahem, let me spoon feed the obvious to you.

During a natural disaster like a hurricane or earthquake, water supplies can become contaminated, and the only option is bottled water.

But we're not talking about that. We're talking about people getting sick. Last time I checked, outbreaks like this (SARS, H1N1, etc) had exactly zero effect on the nation's water supplies. It's stupid to believe this one will.

You know, this would be a lot more fun if you actually had a clue about what you're trying to discuss...

    Not even a little bit.

There are reasons to stock up on water.

This virus just isn't one of them...

Yes, for hurricanes and earthquakes and natural disasters which can contaminate water supplies.

There's absolutely no evidence to suggest that's even a remote possibility that will happen with the coronavirus...

No, although I did work with some EOD teams during Desert Storm...

It's stupid to not be prepared. I don't see it as a "world". I see it as "an intelligent approach".

When I go grocery shopping I'll buy some canned goods to store in the garage; not a lot, maybe two or three cans of beans or something similar. But I do it every time I go shopping.

It sure beats the Hell out of being so stupid that you wait until you need it and there's none to be had...

The point being is that you don't have to waste your money on bottled water, or fight idiots at the grocery store for it...

Yes the Glock 17 is chambered in 9mm.
This is a pretty good comparison of the two cartridges.

So, your reasons for stocking up on water are a little different than other folks reasons for stocking up. Gotcha. :)

Thank you for this information, 557. The reason I was asking is because my son and grandson both have Glock 17s.
    How have you been?

Apparently he’s of the mindset...do as I say, not as I do. We should all follow his rules while he doesn’t.

Distilled water would be fine for a temporary emergency but I wouldn’t drink it long term. Has bad health repercussions.

Sure thing. I’m not much of an authority on the .380 or the 9mm as I don’t own any firearms chambered in those rounds. Other choices fit my uses better. But the Glocks are fine self defense choices.

I can’t complain. I’m self quarantined just like I am every March and April, but there are plenty of these to keep one’s spirits up! :)

How ‘bout you? Do you have the social distancing thing figured out? Stay safe.

Calcium and magnesium deficiency, electrolyte imbalances, dehydration because it doesn’t taste very good.

The W.H.O. Has a large write up in drinking water with a section aimed at first responders to disaster/war torn areas and the use of reverse osmosis systems to restore drinking water. While this is the best way to purify otherwise non potable water, and low/no mineral water is better than contaminated water or no water at all, it isn’t good for the long term. It isn’t that you are consuming water that has zero minerals and therefore not taking any in, you are drinking water that is aggressive and actively stripping your body of minerals it already has.

Thanks. I’m a big fan of the Five-seveN. The 5.7 round is very practical for me. I’m excited about more options in firearms and also how that will drive ammo availability and options.

I hope it says a lot less than I think it might and only means what you think.

    No spin at all.

During hurricane season, I've got no less than 20 cases of water in my garage. Why? Because a hurricane can contaminate the local water supply, that's why. Right now, though, I think I have two cases down there. Why? Because it's not hurricane season. Around the first of May I'll start restocking. Why? Because we'll be entering hurricane season again and it will make sense to stock up on water.

Nothing about Covid-19 threatens the water supply. Nothing. Hoarding bottled water because of something which won't impact the water supply is nonsensical at best.

If you can't differentiate between the need to stock up on water in one instance and not in the other, then I would submit that you're someone who hasn't got the strongest grip on common sense...
