No, I'm saying it's stupid to believe that Covid-19 poses a risk to municipal water supplies. It doesn't. Therefore, stocking up because of Covid-19 is stupid.

Now, if you live in an earthquake prone area like California, it makes perfect sense to stock up all the time. If you live in an area prone to hurricanes, it makes perfect sense to stock up during hurricane season.

People getting sick? Guess what? I can flip the kitchen sink on and still get perfectly good, drinkable water.

I would love to see your explanation as to why it's necessary to stock up on bottled water because of Covid-19. I harbor no illusion you'll actually be able to do that, but it'll be fun to watch you try...

What's the reasoning behind stocking up on water because of Covid-19?

Your animals are very cute. I'm doing fine. Yes, I'm OK with the Social distancing of friends; my family still hugs and kisses me. :)
    Wishing you all the best.

What becomes of the quality of the municipal water supply if those operating the infrastructure needing to maintain it become too ill to work, or simply refuse to venture out to work?

I drink bottled water anyway; not only because of Covid-19. I'm stocking extra just in case I become quarantined and can't get to the store.

I would say that the possibilities of either are so remote as to not warrant any real consideration. Granted, and scenario can be presented as a realistic hypothetical but, at the end of the day. it's just hypothetical.

Besides, I sincerely doubt the chuckleheads I see filling up their trunks and backseats with bottled water are thinking about people not going to work...

Funny, my in-laws live in Florida and have never had an issue with water being contaminated throughout all the hurricanes they’ve experienced. Keep digging. You complained about hoarding yet you’re guilty of such behavior. But please keep up with the insults. Like I said before...it’s all you got

I would love for you to find one post in this thread where I supported hoarding ANY supplies. You are arguing against a position I don’t hold. Man, you just can’t help yourself when it comes to assuming.

It doesn't always happen, but it can. I lived in Charleston, SC when Hurricane Hugo hit and, I assure you, nobody was drinking tap water then.

Are you saying it doesn't happen? Because that would be a really stupid thing to say.

People getting sick isn't going to contaminate the water supply...

The only thing I’m saying is you’re being hypocritical. As I said before, many people on well water don’t have palatable water even with a Brita. A Brita does not remove the metallic smell and taste from our water. If it did I would be ecstatic to use a Brita to save money. That being said we don’t hoard water like some other self-centered...

I'm not being hypocritical at all. There are times when stocking up on water makes sense.

People getting sick isn't really one of those times, and those who suffer the plight of metallic tasting well water are likely a small percentage of the people hoarding water, so it doesn't really explain the empty shelves at the grocery store...

Please do correct me if I'm wrong. I'm certainly no expert on the subject. I did a bit of browsing on 9x19mm rounds a few years ago to find several sites/articles/documents that seemed to agree that the Speer Gold Dot 124g hollow point was one of, if not the best, rounds to use in my Beretta 92FS.

At the time I was searching about this, 2013-14, there was a shortage of 9 mil Luger/parabellum ammo.

As best as I can recall it was during this search that I first ever learned about the 5.7x28. However, I think it was later.

Anyway, it is a double stack high capacity armor piercing round that won a NATO competition to replace the 9x19mm.

Excluding the 50AE and the 50S&W of course, cause ya don't need to pierce a vest when ya hit it with a truck....

Around here folks have completely wiped out all of the common ammo calibers (5.56, 7.62, 9mm, etc). There isn't a single store in town that has any at all and my go to gun store was saying it's backlogged for the next 90 days at the earliest.

People watch too many movies in my opinion, I was chatting it up with one of the employees at the gun store and we were just laughing. The store owner is loving it of course but we were sitting there saying seriously what the hell do these folks think is about to happen? And what do you think is about to happen that requires more ammo than you already have on hand? I live in one of the most heavily armed counties in the nation and virtually everybody has guns and ammo on hand in general yet they cleaned the store shelves off for the impending apocalypse or something.

I mean sure you can never have too much ammo on hand but stockpiling ammo on top of your current stockpile because of this cornavirus is funny to me. Calm down people, The Purge isn't about to happen and the nation isn't about to plunge into a Mad Max scenario....

I have well water and I've been drinking it straight from the tap for years. Not the most pleasant smelling stuff even with the salt filter but it's not going to hurt you...

Your issue is with those hoarding. But then again you’re a hoarder so there’s that.

Of course, folks can do whatever they please it's a free country. But there are very few places in America where drinking the tap water is going to actually hurt you in any way.

    Stockpile away

People shouldn't have to drink disgusting tasting water either. Are you in the habit of eating disgusting tasting food, beer, wine, etc? I bet not. Should be same for water also. I drink a ton of water and want to actually enjoy it. I know....I'm weird like that.

To simplify- many of those who didn't stock up on food, water and toilet paper will, statistically speaking, be driven to take them from those who did.

On average, the majority of any group will turn to violence after a few days without food, cannibalism after a few weeks.

Hey to each their own as I said. Free country, do whatever you please everyone is different. I don't eat gross food or drink gross booze but water is one of those things that isn't really a bother to me personally.

Then again I also spend a significant amount of my time drinking water directly from rivers or lakes with a sawyer filter to I'm used to water that tastes....different? Brita water or bottled water tastes funny to me.

No, my issue is with people who stock up on something for the wrong reason. See, if I were hoarding it, I'd have 40 cases in the garage as I type this. I have two.

Covid-19 isn't going to contaminate your water supply. Your tap water is fine to drink. There's no reason to pile bottled water ten cases high in the garage.

Now, if a hurricane is headed your way, I'll help you transport all the bottled water you can afford to wherever you need it, because that would be a smart move on your part.

But stockpiling it because of Covid-19 is stupid. There's not a single thing about it that makes sense...

So, if it was the only thing between you and complete dehydration, you'd opt for dehydration simply because you don't like the way your water tastes? How stupid...

I think folks are seriously overestimating what the next few weeks or months is going to be like....

Granted I am pretty stoic about virtually everything but I have the same information as everyone else and I just don't see reason to panic like this. When I was at my gun store bored last weekend I saw somebody walking out with two 1000rd cases of ammunition. I went to the store to pick up a few things and I saw the entire meat aisle stripped clean. I wanted to make pasta for dinner and the entire pasta aisle was stripped clean, as was all rice, beans, and pretty much anything else without a shelf life. Stopped by the gas station to fill up and the line was huge with folks filling up multiple gas cans and whatnot.

It's more of an annoyance than anything else.

Perhaps I may very well eat my own words here in the next month or so but I am finding this response by folks to be completely ridiculous and hilarious at the same time coupled with a hefty dose of getting on my damn nerves as I try to go about my normal life.

Perhaps ammunition can be used in place of currency for bartering for other supplies?
