Spain has already reported 443 new deaths today, this number is sure to rise in the run of the day. Their current overall death total is: 3,434

Madrid has become a second Lombardy.

This is just absolute horrifying. Imagine you yourself having to black-tag 443 people in just one day. It is, as the Germans say, "schlicht unfassbar".

The generosity of private Americans (and companies) in helping out in this crisis is inspiring.

Elon Musk (Tesla) purchase 1255 ventilators from excess surplus in China and had them shipped to Los Angeles.

When the chips are down, Americans step up to the challenge!

    ----

“If you want a free ventilator installed, please let us know!” he tweeted, before thanking his Tesla team in China as well as customs for “acting so swiftly” in shipping the medical equipment stateside.

Yup, China had an oversupply, so we bought 1255 FDA-approved ResMed, Philips & Medtronic ventilators on Friday night & airshipped them to LA. If you want a free ventilator installed, please let us know!

Thanks Tesla China team, China Customs Authority & LAX customs for acting so swiftly

Musk’s tweets came just hours after California Gov. Gavin Newsom
announced in a press conference that Musk had followed through on his promise to deliver ventilators to hospitals treating patients diagnosed with COVID-19, calling the act “an heroic effort.”

Politicians, diplomats and world leaders are similar to teenagers. They think that "stay at home" doesn't apply to them. o_O

They say the prince has a mind case, but he is 71 years old. Hope he recovers without issues.

Someone in the Royal Household has the virus. We were told a couple of days ago. Then they said the queen might get it which I suppose she might and she is very old.

Amy Klobuchar's husband has coronavirus, she hasn't been tested....and is still showing up to Senate sessions. It's the "Other people need to stay home, but I'm too important" syndrome.

Yup! Way too many of them are like that. Just look at what Rand Paul did. Hate to imagine how others he infected.

At this rate, the entire House and Senate will be working from home in a week or two. That's not a bad thing. They could save a lot of time and money if they video-conferenced most sessions and didn't have to fly from their home states to Washington as often. It would modernize the system.

This was discussed after @Statistikhengst made the suggestion that Congress change their Rules to allow remote sessions and voting.

From what I gather already most of the Congressional staffers themselves are working from home. It is only the actual elected members that still must be present under the current outdated rules.

That should have been the FIRST order of business IMO.

Actually, until the law is changed, they cannot. They can work from home, but currently, they cannot vote from home:

That makes sense. The U.S. has 5.5 times the population of Italy, and the accuracy (or honesty) of numbers from either China or India is questionable.

80 people have already died today in the Netherlands, which now has a total of 356 deaths, almost twice as many as Germany (181 total deaths, thus far 22 today).
    Population of Germany: 84 million
Population of the Netherlands: 17 million.

The Netherlands (Amsterdam) is becoming a real hot spot.

People have a habit of touching their face many times a day, usually it's unconscious. DON'T! Stay away from people, period. If you need to shop for groceries, find a supermarket that does the shopping for you and all you have to do is pick it up curbside. Keep some antibacterial wipes such as Clorox or any other brand that kills bacteria and viruses and wipe down everything you got at the store before bringing it in your home.

Hello Iranian Monitor, a first has happened in the UK. A young woman of 21 has died in the UK of the Coronavirus. She is a first at that age. She had none of the preconditions which make people vulnerable.

True. I don't think Philips chances would be so good. I think he is 99 and has been having more regular problems with his health.

In terms of a mid-day report, I had been watching, with some cautious optimism, the Worldofmeters report for the US and I saw that the US was still below 500 new cases as of about 30 minutes ago. It then jumped about 5000. Ugh.

I will note that the last three days for US has continued to increase, day to day, although the increase has been comparatively flat. I don't know if that bodes well or not, but when one is desperate for good news, you will try to find it anywhere.

I did realize though, and perhaps @Statistikhengst or @nobodyspecific can confirm, that the US now has three of the top four largest single day additions for new infections. The only country to have a single day with a larger increase was China when they made the decision to completely revamp how they would classify "confirmed" cases.

Just a quick look at the number from 8 minutes ago. I need to get back to work.

Take a look at the number of deaths, before Italy and France report for the day.
