Tracking the COVID-19-Virus in Germany, the USA, Italy and other hot spots in the world

The method of reporting is somewhat lopsided and haphazard because the individual nations have their own way of getting the data out there. The only county I know of to have a very specific time of day to report numbers is: Italy, 6 PM GMT +1, in about 5 minutes, but I need to work another hour. Expect a big death total out of Italy. The worst is not yet over with.

 

At one point last night here (UK) the US had over 9,000 new cases. The US is one of the countries that ups its number throughout the 24 hours. That tends to make the increase look smaller.

~ Trump had travel restriction on China almost immediately but European countries did not. Even though Italy had flight restriction on China the rest of the Western Europe did not and due to their EU open border policy people had no problem moving from one European country to another without screening/vetting. That is how the virus spread out in Europe. Once there was an outbreak from Europe, U.S. could not be avoided being affected. There is so much traffic between Europe and the east coast, especially New York City and Boston where they are the hubs with Europe.

Please cite where Trump wants to ignore the virus, or did you just make that up? Do you not want to get back to normal at the right time?

 

Wait a minute. It depends on if she has been at home with her husband over the last 3 weeks or not. If she has not been at home, then not being there is maybe the best thing for her.

That being said, fair is fair, I railed on Rand Paul for being so incredibly inconsiderate, so this may apply to Amy Klobuchar - but then again, maybe not.

I am quite sure that once the 45 minute tests are ready to do, one should be testing the entire congress regularly.

Excuse me, but there is a huge amount of airplane traffic between Europe and major American hubs on the West Coast as well, also between a number of Asian nations other than China and both the West and East Coast. So, to imply or infer that simply shutting down traffic from China on Trump's part, a decision I supported, btw, would have solved all the possibilities of the virus entering the USA from Asia, think again. Flights from S. Korea were not banned, neither were flights from Taiwan or Hong Kong (which functions as a separate entity within China). S. Korea was already infected when the ban from Trump against China went into effect.

So, the blame game about which plane traffic went where is really very silly. Also, the very perfide assumption that large cities on the East Coast are somehow responsible for this.

You all had better brace yourselves. It's only 3 PM on the East Coast, with 9 hours still to go in the day over there and already today, 105 Americans have died from the COVID-19 virus. Those numbers are not yet on the level of Italy, Spain or France, but they are now at the levels of Iran. And the USA is approximately where those three European countries were 2 weeks ago. The wave is going to hit.

 

Pretty sure that's a reference to Trump's repeatedly stated goal to reopen the country as soon as possible, even pointing multiple times to the arbitrary date of Easter to "fill up the churches."

But this isn't very relevant to the topic of this thread.

 

When you are replying on a OPEN thread and everyone can read your content, then that also means that anyone can respond to your input, especially the dude who created the thread by writing the OP. I would think that should be obvious to every adult in the room, nööööö.

That being said, when a thread goes off on a tangent of sorts, opening a new thread could be a good idea. Why don't you just ask that member directly?

 

Interim report. Look at the numbers:



We ended the day yesterday with 421,069 COVID-19 cases, a jump of 42,577 cases over the day before.

Today, with 4 more hours left in my day, were are already at 461,925 cases, a jump of 40,856 cases over yesterday and with, as I wrote, with four hours still to go.

Yesterday, in the last 4 hours, 15,000 more cases were reported. Notice that the death rate continues to tick up, currently at: 4.51%. And the % of officially recovered victims continues to go down: 24.64%.

The statistics for today, when all is said and told, are going to exceed what I predicted this morning. We are already pushing 21,000 dead right now. That is absolutely horrifying.

Tomorrow, March 26th, 2020, we are going to easily blow past 500,000 (one half-million) confirmed COVID-cases.

My heart is sinking even further. For all of my fellow Americans, of all stripes.

I think that is a wise decision which I hope will apply in the UK. I doubt that anyone who needs resuscitation would survive anyway. My GF is nursing patients in ICU and I worry about her everyday and hope she doesn't need to resuscitate anyone needing it.
