This is far less than all the pork that Pelosi had in the house bill, but it is sad that democrats sided with the arts over citizens.

They would not pass the package in the senate unless they got something on their wish list.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cn...mp-kennedy-center-funding-stimulus/index.html

25 Million for the Kennedy Center of performing arts. Money for left wing PBS & NPR were a few of the beneficiaries of the Democratic Christmas.

I am sure there is much more that we will find out in time.

It is sad that the democrats held the people hostage so they can fund arts that can’t support itself. No federal funding should go to the partisan NPR & PBS. That would be like Funding Fox News.

I understand funding for planned Parenthood as they donate to the Cash strapped DNC, but the arts? That’s a head scratcher.

    Sounds GREAT.

The Arts are a Very Important Part of American Life.

    A Good "Counter Balance":

Especially in the Era of Trump (A Mistakenly-Elected Uncultured Parvenu).

It sure beats picking up the tab of 10 thousand dollars for every outstanding student loan.

I am glad the democrats lost on that one :applause:

Why should a Walmart & Convenience store workers taxes go to pay student loans for lawyers?

It's disgusting that the Democrats packed the bill with non-Virus related crap.

Negotiating 101: ask for more than you want so you have room to bargain. Unfortunately, the dems had to add some pork so they had stuff to take out in exchange for republicans acceping things that they should have included in the first place, like extended unemployment benefits and restrictions on how bailout funds could be used. If those had been in the senate's version in the first place, the dems might have just passed it as is.

    100m .. on freaking arts?

This is how you know humanity is doomed. When survival is pushed aside to make way for 'art'.

Just veto the damn thing and beat the democrats over the head with it. They need to be outed for what they are. Trump should make a prime time address and lay that turd right on Nancy's head.

People are losing their jobs and healthcare during a pandemic.

So during a time of need, you ask for tons of unrelated crap & then you settle for a portion of unrelated crap?

I am sure the people in need will be comforted knowing that the National Endowments of the Arts can fund the next Maplethorpe crucifix in piss exhibit with money that could be in their pocket.

But, in terms of the $500 Billion Slush Fund to Bailout business, $100 Million is Chump change.

Only 1/5000th of the money going to business. Chump change.

No, just pass the damn thing then beat the Democrats with it during the campaign. That and all the other pork like the $200M for the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Development Program or allowing people to register on voting day.

Like that's something really important we should be worried about, right now...

I would rather bail out the working man and his employers, than waste $ on obvious, graft.

Which is why the dems were fighting to get unemployment benefits extended. I don't see you complaining that republicans didn't include them in the first place.

You know who still brings up that stupid display? It sure as hell isn't libs. You guys have a real hard on for that stuff, bordering on a fetish.

Anyway, sounds like republicans didn't have enough to concede in order to get the dems to take that provision out. Regardless, $100,000,000 is a pitance compared to what corporations are likely to collectively piss away with their $1,000,000,000,000+ in bailout money. You go ahead and keep fearing that artsy boogeyman, though.

Nancy asked for 10 thousand dollars of college loan forgiveness per person & there are 34.2 million student loans.

That is far more than any 500 billion slush fund.

The 100m is a drop in the bucket compared to the 10 thousand dollar for student loan debt forgiveness Pelosi wanted for each of the 34.2 million student loans.

I am sure Walmart workers and convenience store workers don’t want their tax money going to paying off student loans for lawyers.

The Democrats are the party of giveaways because they have no agenda.

You may want to look up the statistics on how many folks with college degrees, paid for with student loans, are working at Walmart and convenience stores. You'd be surprised. Besides, the money's already gone. Forgiving loan debt doesn't cost the same as giving that same amount of money away. Also, Walmart and convenience store workers making enough to pay taxes, lol, good one.

Giveaways to people, maybe. Republicans are the party of giveaways to corporations. Pick your poison. If we hadn't squandered $1.7 trillion on a tax bill a few years ago that let corporations buy up a bunch of their own stocks, we would be able to do even more now to mitigate the damage to the economy during this crisis. Spare me your selective outrage.

Well I am glad money went to unemployment and the people who need it.

I am also glad that there is going to be independent oversight for the 500 Billion fund for business.

I am also glad that no money went to student loan debt forgiveness.

To hold back money from families over money for the Arts or Debt forgiveness for losers is not right.

Anyone who has a 4 year degree and is working a floor job at Walmart, should be able to sue their college for a refund.

Yeah & I bet your voting for ragtime Joe Biden. The dementia village idiot who would have left the borders open during a pandemic.

We would have been like Italy if Biden was running the show.

    We agree here.

It should have been more. When you free people from debt, they're able to spend a lot more and really do more for the economy. But the suspended payments is enough for what we need right now, debt forgiveness is not that important.

If you think the dems weren't ultimately going to pass some form of relief, well... I'll just stop myself and avoid the mod reprimand right now. Anyway, it really sucks that the dems had to put stuff like that in there so they would have some leverage to get the things above, which we both agree are good. As I said before, if republicans had put them in the bill in the first place, dems might have passed it as is. If nothing else, conservatives would have a lot more high ground to stand on when complaining about the dems' riders.

I will take that as a concession of your point.

Not that it's relevant to this discussion, but I'm only voting for Biden because Trump is such a disaster of a president. And closing the borders makes no difference. By the time the idea even occurs to anyone to stop travel during a pandemic, it's already in the country.

We would have been Italy if Biden was running the show. Thousands would be dead & we would be in a far worse place & the borders would still be open.

You hate Trump, I understand that and you would rather vote for ragtime Joe Biden just to get rid of trump.

Kinda like cutting off your nose to spite your face don’t you think?

There are a lot of democrats that hate Trump, but they have given Trump credit for doing a good job during the pandemic.

    Who you ask....

    California Governor Newsom.

    New York Governor Cuomo.

    How about congresswomen Ilhan Omar?
(This one really surprised me - she hates trump)

    Oh?

    DID she get it?

    I must've missed that.

    And 10,000 X 34.2 Million = 342 Billion.

So, How is 342 Billion MORE than 500 Billion?

    Is that the new math?

    Is that "Trump's Math"?

Some people are likely going to have their check reduced if they earned too little money or wont get a check at all if they were claimed as a dependent at some time in the past few years. Those people are likely to be extremely low wealth and in much more need of some help right now than some hoity toity elitist center. And yea the arts are important but we don't need government for them anymore. Take a look around, the internet is burst with creative content and no shortage of free platforms for it to grow on. This piss poorly allocated money is a disgrace.

    You get a ⭐️
    I didn’t do the math....

It could be worse..... I could be MSNBC’s Brian Williams.

    I challenged you to a bet & I never got a reply.
I said that if Trump loses, I will delete my account and never return.

Will you do the same if Biden loses?

Someone sent me a message saying that you said you would leave if Hillary got defeated, but you never left.

    Is that true?

    Why doesn’t that surprise me...,...:roflol:

I am not surprised you not a man of your word.

Does that qualify as an insult?

Your the guy who has the mods on speed dial, I am sure you will be checking.... because that’s the type of guy you are.
