Gov. Andrew Cuomo Admits Stockpile of Thousands of Unused Ventilators

Look I'm not partisan on this, they likely will need more BUT last week Cuomo was going on and on about current patients having to double up on ventilators. I guess instead of acting like it was dire last week, why not say we're good for now but probably will need more. Instead he made it sound like it was a federal government issue.

 

So Cuomo said NY doesn't need ventilators. I expect the NYT to be all over that.

 

The part of the CDC that did that was disbanded by Trump in 2018. Their people were kept on but transferred to other work.

He said NYC doesn't need ventilators RIGHT NOW. He also strongly implied that they would need many more ventilators very soon.

NOT disbanded. It was another bloated dept with too many people so it was brought in line along with loads of other depts. There is absolutely NO PROOF it would have made a difference. Anyone can just say “if only” we had more people we could have done X. Every govt department wants more people than it needs. That’s govt when you don’t have to justify your existence and just get paid to breath.

That was not part of the CDC, that was a NSC group, that was reorganized...no disbanded.

Debunked my butt. Trump didn't just "reorganize" it. He had it assigned to completely different functions, and he knew he was cutting out a government responsibility. He said it at the time. "If we need doctors we'll get them." He seems to think doctors are like truck mechanics.

The CDC was working hand in glove with all the nations in the world to deal with epidemics. It's necessarily an international type of thing since epidemics spread worldwide, but Trump's "America First" put a stop to that. Every single American death from this is Trump's doing, and nobody else's.

the CDC global health team is still around and still working internationally. In fact trump offered to send a team to China back in December, they reduced his help

 

They're being given out AS NEEDED and they anticipate needing many, many more. Why is this so hard to understand?

They still have a pandemic team NOW. The team was much reduced in strength before this emergency and that reduction was Trump's doing. The Chinese were understandably miffed by a reduction followed by an offer

ok if you are going to be technical. But still, the way the reporting is done in the US media, we don't need interference from Russia or anyone else. CNN, MSNBC, etc., do a perfect job at dividing us. It frustrates me to no end so I like to make my point when I see the obvious unfair reporting.

How many people are going to die because NYC doesn't want to give up those vents? There are places who need them more right now then NYC. Its called Triage.

Neither - I budget for each year, but I'm not sure how that's relevant. The closest analogy to your 'budget' analogy, would seem to be that someone has completely run out of money in the bank, but they have a pile of money 'stockpiled' in a drawer at home but they decide not to use it.
