Why cant the media report the truth

It is time the media start reporting the truth about the virus. In any given city the reported cases just keep going up, even tho most of those who have been infected have now recovered and should no longer be counted. Case in point here in Lincoln Ne three weeks ago the first cases in the city were reported, a man and his wife. By now they are over it, and should no longer be counted. Only those who are now infected should be reported so we can accurately guage how active the virus really is.

 

Those people should absolutely be counted towards the overall number of people who have been infected by the virus. Why do you believe we should be excluding those who have recovered from the total number of people who have been infected?

 

Should the press keep reporting how many people had the measles, mumps and chicken pox??? But then they could because even tho they were pretty much wiped out in the US, the criminal invaders have brought them back into the news.

It is far more relevant to know how many people in your city has the virus NOW!!!!!

 

Which IS being reported as new cases. There are new case numbers in addition to overall total cases of people who have been infected. Not sure why you’re struggling with this concept.

 

Ohhh, you want the media only to report as what YOU see as the truth and numbers that will help Trump in the next election ... thanks for clarifying that.

By the way, given that Covid-19 has numerous asymptomatic carriers, it's good to know the total numbers of infected to get a better calculation on the asymptomatic crowd. I know that makes Trump sad, but it is what it is.

That's an excellent point. After two weeks, one should be taken out of the "positive" category, right? But then, since we aren't doing as much testing as needed, it is highly probable that most people who contract COVID-19 were never counted on the first place.

For example, I've been staying home (aside from getting groceries) for almost four weeks. This past week, I've had a sore throat, which became a bad cough, which became a pretty severe sinus congestion, and is now clearing up. Was it a common cold, or did I just successfully fight off COVID-19? Without a test, there's no way to know that, and where I live, the scarcity of tests means that I can't get one.

Maybe after the dust settles, I can get one of those easy, simple, cheap antibody tests that will answer that question, but meanwhile all I can do is sit here and worry.

 

Why can't the media report news I want to hear all the time!?! Facebook and PF reports the news better! I like what I hear there.

 

I'm exactly the same - put myself in quarantine the past week, started with sore throat then cough and sinus congestion... never got tested, just tried to eat well and hot rum toddies got me through..
The media cannot realistically give out the numbers as many people do not get tested, the ones that do will be the chronically ill who need hospital/doctor treatment... the ones who don't just stay at home.
Unless everyone gets a test its impossible to come up with figures... I don't worry anyway - my main worry is that I work with vulnerable people so I stayed away just to be sure

 

Already this year , approx 12 miilion people have died from something other than the virus. 200k infant humans that had a good chance of being born were exterminated by people who view the developing life form in a female womb as little more than a “parasite”

These people are the ones I do not accept as having any insights whatsoever about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, other than how to try to deprive other people of exercising those self evident rights

 

If there is no distinction between sick and recovered it makes it look like the virus is incurable and it is not. The only older people I have heard of recovering is Tom Hanks and his wife and of course he has that Green Mile thing going for him. If older people are treated the same as young do they recover at the same rate?

 

Shouldn’t the number of deaths tell you the number that hasn’t recovered?
