I've already shown how the reporter lied and how the media has spun this. I have also shown how Trump did not lie. Using the very same link that is in the OP. Is it too hard for you to admit the truth that Trump did not mention New York OR the word "governor" once in the statement in question?

Once again shameful. You are highlighting why I believe half of our citizens are in direct confrontation with the other half.

I am not 100% sure there will be a USA for my great-grandchildren

You've yet to show how my first post that you responded to is "shameful". And now you come up with this?

Very well, I know just how to deal with you.

    TTFN!

"I don't believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators," Trump told host Sean Hannity, an apparent reference to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's recent claim that the state needed 30,000 ventilators. "You know, you go into major hospitals sometimes and they'll have two ventilators and now all of a sudden they're saying, 'Can we order 30,000 ventilators?'"

"You said repeatedly that you think that some of the equipment that governors are requesting, they don't actually need," Alcindor began. "You said New York might not need 30,000--"

"I didn't say that," Trump reacted.

    Seems he did.

Read your own idiotic words. Dude says don't need 30,000. Reporter repeats said claim 30,000, you scream liar!!!

Even my die-hard Trump-supporting father shook his head and at least had a decent and rationale reason for Trump's lie.

Had you said it's a challenging time, and Trump probably is trying to manage many different issues and may not be clear on what he meant in the Hannity interview.

No, you want to paint the reporter as a liar. That's extraordinarily shameful, and you have 0 credibilities.

Trump's lies issue like projectile trumpstuff through a semi-automatic 10-gauge goose, and constitute gourmet cuisine for gorging toadies and lickspittles (none of whom ever appear around here, of course.)

What happened to his blithe assurances that he had the pandemic "under control"? That it wasn't as bad as the flu? That it would just "go away"?, etc., etc., etc.

"I think Easter Sunday and you'll have packed churches all over our country!
I think it would be a beautiful time.
And it's just about the timeline I think is right!"

he said in an interview on his Fox News
... even though his own public health officials have warned
the outbreak might spread, leading to hundreds of thousands
of infected Americans by year's end.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-coronavirus-news-reopen-us-borders-easter-holiday-a9423041.html

Faced with the grim prospect that 200,000 Americans could die even with aggressive action to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Trump extended the guidelines on avoiding nonessential travel, staying away from work, visiting bars and restaurants and gathering in groups of more than 10 for at least another month.

“We can expect that by June 1, we will be well on our way to recovery!
We think by June 1! A lot of great things will be happening!”

But the virus has already dashed Mr. Trump’s earlier rosy predictions, and as Americans entered their third week living in a work-from-home world,
officials warned that the deepening crisis in New York was weeks from peaking.

Cancelling his plans to emerge from self-isolation on Easter morning, Jesus is now postponing his resurrection until official Heimlich Maneuver Day, June 1.

As much as you liberals love playing semantic games, yet you can't see the mistake here. In the original quote, President Trump said that he did not think that NY would need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. Both reporters misquoted as saying "NY may not need...." It is not the same thing. President Trump may not believe that the NY does not need that many, that does not mean that they won't eventually actually need them. President Trump is not leading the task force on ventilators. That is made by VP Mike Pence. It is that team that is deciding who gets what when. Gov Como has already admitted that he has thousands of ventilators sitting in a warehouse not being used. At the same time, there are states that has more immediate needs. It only makes since to prioritize these needs based on available supply.

President Trump speaks the language of a business leader, and he assumes that everyone in the room understands him. Unfortunately, most in the media does not have a business background. When a CEO is talking to his board, they all have the same information that he has, and they all understand how that information needs to be used. Let's say the company makes widgets. This is a high demand and high need item. They all know that the state of NY has thousands on these widgets being hoarded in a warehouse, and they are requesting tens of thousands more. At the same time, there are several states that have no overstock of the items, and are running short of widgets. Who do you send them to? You prioritize deliveries based on supply available and the level of shortage. So, the states that have a shortage. NY might get a few at a time, but they will not get all of theirs at once. Of course, while they are having to wait, Como will whine, and blame President Trump.

Several companies are working to retool to build Ventilators, but how long would it take to be an impact to the system. I'm not sure how long it will take these companies to retool, but it takes 40 days to actually build a ventilator. So, it will take two months for these additional companies to rollout their first units. The next question is how many units they can roll out each day. Currently world wide, there are 40,000 to 50,000 units produced annually. That means that NY is asking for an entire year's world wide production for them alone. The countries of Germany and Italy, which have been hit much harder then NY has been, has only requested half the number of NY.

Given the facts, I would question the NY request. But let's stay away from the semantics games.

And to call the President a liar when clearly there was no lie. It is just Partisan lying in itself.

So you attack hope for the best. Instead of mentioning the 150,000 in America that have overcome the virus, you'd rather focus on the dead in nursing homes that had very poor chances before the virus. Of course you distort all this because it is the only chance Sleepy Creepy Joe has!

Probably because that isn't exactly what he said. And NYC doesn't currently need them.

You embrace blatant falsehoods and try to pass them off as harmless wishful thinking. Hyper-partisan fanaticism aside, lies are lies and have consequences.

Trump's failure to respond in timely fashion (See South Korea that identified its first case on the same day as the U.S.) to the threat about which medical experts were warning him has resulted in the U.S. becoming the epicenter of the pandemic.

Your callously dismissing the growing number of victims as part of your political agenda is quite squalid.

The hate continues to roll on and the opposition continues to offer their opinions as to what they would do to make the situation better.

Doesn't work that way in practice and never has the governor of new York does not nor does he have a reason to care what the voters in Montana think once he's got them they'll stay there unless the national guard launches a raid on his warehouse.

Simple math and reality check. 55,000 cases what percentage of those need hospitalization and what percent if those need a ventilator? If the final number is less than 2/3 of the first number you sure as hell aren't going to need 30 to 40k of them. It is of course possible that they might need them in the future but it is also possible that Campeflagre or Yellowstone could go of this week rendering our corona concerns largely irrelevant...

Thanks. Now, watch this starting at the 24:52 mark till about the 26:45 mark should be good enough. You made me finally watch Hannity. ugh. Only time I watch Hannity is when its for discussions like this.

Note that Trump is talking about how he wants to bring the economy back (you can go back farther than 24:52 if you want to see that though I think its pretty obviously listening to just the segment I pointed out). He's not just talking about NY. He's talking about several states through out that whole segment. So when he says "there are several areas" he's literally talking about "areas". Not specific locales.

You should note that even Business Insider separated the two comments instead of putting them in the same paragraph. And you can tell that there's a separation when you listen to what is said and how it was said.

Now, all that said, I can understand some people thinking that Trump was talking about NY when he mentioned the number of ventilators. That bit was right after he mentioned NY and he did say "30,000". But when its actually listened to I do not believe he meant it as a side swipe at NY. I am sure he meant it as "several areas". NY is one area. Not several. Given the context of what was being talked about (easing up on restrictions through out the country depending on amount of covid cases) I can only see it as being meant in general and around the country.

In the end this is imo a POV thing. Some will hear one thing, others will hear another. Just depends on ones outlook. Much like playing telephone where you get a bunch of people in a circle and whisper a statement in one persons ear and by the time it gets back around to you that statement has morphed into something totally different. So, I'll withdraw my statement that the reporter lied. But I also do not believe that Trump lied also. Its a POV thing.

if you do not think Trump was referring to New York, that is on you, everyone knows what he was refering too

but regardless, no reason for Trump to get triggered and say her question threatened him, Trump needs to get his fragile ego under control

Everyone huh? Obviously not everyone as I am one that doesn't think that. Perhaps everyone that you know personally. But its obviously not everyone.

Again, depends on POV. Since he was the one that knew what he was talking about and thinking at the time it is obvious that he saw it differently from the reporter.

Id ask. are these ventilators a "Use once" throw away? And how long do/does the average patient(s) need to be on the ventilators?

they can use more then once as they were talking about shipping them to other states when ny is done with them and other states then have a need

sure they have parts that are one patient use, but the device itself is multiuse
