Giuliani's Twitter account suspended. Should all Social Media follow Twitter's policy lead?

    At a time of a health crisis the likes of which we had never seen, many people are capable of doing anything to protect themselves. Even self-medicate. Quacks abound who take advantage of people, be it for profit or for political reasons, to disseminate false information. It's a concern that influential people like the President* and his attorney are among those quacks.

    Rudy Giuliani's Twitter account was suspended for posting (without the alert I added) false medical information

    We don't know who reads our posts. We might assume that only sensible people who wouldn't take this false information seriously, and would certainly not act on it. But there is no real way of knowing. What if somebody wrote that this or that chemical component is "absolutely safe", somebody reads your post and dies?

    Understand this: it is not safe! Not for everyone or under any condition. So that means it's not safe (see example at the end of this post)

    In normal times, I'd say that the stupidity of people should not curtail your freedom of speech. But these are not normal times. This is a health crisis. People are desperate for a solution.

    And even if that doesn't happen, people who really need these medications (like patients with Lupus) are experiencing shortages. We don't know if any of these chemical components will turn out to work or not. Maybe they will. If they do, you can look back at the thousands of Trump's tweets and, if he mentioned it, you can claim that Trump is the greatest medical genius in history (which is why he tweets about every single drug anybody mentions) But, in the mean time, it's not wise to be spreading around medical misinformation.

    So just watch what you say. You may be a faithful Trump follower, but the medical nonsense that he spews is, for the most part, not supported by medical professionals. Don't repeat it just because Trump says so. It's dangerous!

    Who has been saying take cholorquine NOT under a doctors supervision or prescription? And what was fake about Guliani's post the French study said it was 100%.

    Dude chloroquine is a prescription drug that has been on the market for years for the treatment of other diseases. It's about as safe as it gets. There studies indicating it is efficacious in the treatment of covid and some evidence that it may be a preventative as well. We are awaiting further testing for confirmation. There are also 3 or three wholly experimental drugs in trial as well. But to date there side effects are not known cloroquin's are.

    The only silly comment I know is the one Trump made. That it's not safe for everyone under any condition is accurate, and might have saved a life in Arizona if Trump had said it.

    Last I heard 79 of 80 hospitalized patients recovered. The one that died was apparently near death before given cholorquine.

    Still waiting for you to admit choloriquine and chloroquine phosphate are two entirely different chemicals.

    I take it you didn't get to watch the interview he conducted with a DOCTOR that was claiming he used the same things S Korea was experimenting with only he blended them, with a well known antibiotic that essentially unlocked the cells allowing the zinc to be absorbed. He was the one that claimed he has treated 450+ patients and has not a single one, even those at the very top of the critical spectrum die.. I watched it less then 2 hours ago and the interview is now unavailable..

    Odd how things like this are only available for a very short window?

    Yup this was in the video!

    And if I might add, zinc was the destroyer and the hurdle was getting it inside the cell.. This doctor Giuliani interviewed said he has the numbers and is about to publish then in the next few weeks..

    The Doctors name is DR. Zelenko and I think the video can still be viewed on Giuliani's blog thingy..

    Many of the mysteries associated with the Chinese Coronavirus Pandemic are being solved fast, but that ProPublica must be one of those RW Trumpist sources. ;-)
