They absolutely are. They deliver EVERYTHING, not just letters.

I love how you keep making this about things its not to fit your untenable agenda.

Amazon now has its own delivery service. Purchases from Amazon or "fulfilled by Amazon" come by Amazon truck. Purchases from other vendors who sell on Amazon are shipped by the vendor in whatever manner it uses. Small, light orders will normally arrive by USPS. Larger heavier ones will arrive by a private delivery service.

yes they do. And that was precipitated by the USPS having to raise their shipping rates

No, there are weight and size limits to what the USPS will handle. Also the USPS will not handle some items like firearms. Order a sofa from Wayfair.com. I can promise the USPS will not handle it. The do not deliver EVERYTHING.

Nor does ups or fedex. so my point still stands

sorry if my post was confused. ‘Everything” was comparing them to ups and fedex.

UPS and Fedex will ship all kinds of things that the postal service will not. LTL truck will handle the sofa I mentioned. It isn't a good comparison.

However it is still the most American of American ways to get in touch.
Unless Christmas and Birthday cards are no longer necessary.
It is also very important to seniors and lower income groups. It gives
them a feeling of security, knowing they can ship and mail stuff
by themselves. The Post Office is slower than UPS and much slower than
FedX.But for the price it's a good deal.Every decade we are warned how
the Post Office cannot survive much longer. But some Christmas, that
Post Office is like a godsend. In fact,I'd say right now it's terribly important.
    Until they stop parcel delieveries.
I bet I hate junk mail more than the thread OP maker.I think it's possible
now to request that No Junk mail be sent to my mailbox. But I think you
have to put it in writing and almost cross yer fingers.I asked about
this a few times the last decade.

How would you do that? I don't think some law could be passed to force a company to do that especially making them all go by every house 6 days a week just to see if they have something to pick up. And how do you mail things securely, your mailbox is actually property of the Post Office and it is against the law, a federal crime, for any person including the commercial carriers from opening it and using it or taking something out of it.

I see or get several certified and government letters a year. I got a credit card replacement in the mail a few weeks ago. I would much prefer that go into my federal mailbox than have it tossed on my front porch.

To keep the USPS afloat, they can eliminate or restrict home deliveries to 2 times a week or less. If it's something you need right away, you can always go to the Post Office and pick it up.

Amazon has their own delivery service and also contracts private carriers.
They do use usps, but in my experience, not often.

Did you know that your street address is a number of the postal road? Without that id there can be no delivery address. So, let's keep the USPS.

Yes they are, mainly in rural areas. Amazon stated that they wanted to control costs in their delivery, so they started their own delivery service. USPS was the cheapest of the 3, but even then Amazon saw an opportunity to get better costs.

I wont even start on how Amazon is hurting the economy overall

Shoot they tried just to eliminate Saturday and there was an uproar. I'd be fine with the five day. It's too bad their thing with Amazon went away but I get stuff from Ebay and private sellers on Amazon USPS, got a shipment in progress right now coming USPS.

As I said before I worked with the USPS providing certain parts to the Litton System and other equipment they use, it was amazing the technology they developed and use to sort mail.

    So check this out.
With the China virus hitting our cities, my daughter that lives in Washington state couldn’t find hand sanitizer. Her state got hit pretty early on. She called me and I was able to buy a whole case of it. I put 8 bottles in a flat rate box and took it to the post office. I was informed that I couldn’t mail hand sanitizer to my daughter in need because it was flammable. The United States postal service forbid me from mailing hand sanitizer to one of the hardest hits regions of of our country. The woman treated me like I was mailing live rattle snakes.
Me as a father bought and wanted to mail hand sanitizer. Nope, even in this environment, you cannot mail hand sanitizer to your children. Ups will, fedex will, USPS will not.
USPS can go FK themselves. I hope the go under. Hand sanitizer FFS.

Why? If there is a piece of important mail you are expecting the Post Office lobby should remain open till 7 PM. They can do that without all the expense of home delivery.
