It would have taken fewer keystrokes to just Google: coronavirus death toll

I am already aware of the answer and obviously you aren’t . My question was to get you to research yourself.
    Sorry you missed the point.

I'm sorry, were you responding to
    with your comment?

Do you think there AREN'T refrigerated trucks being used as morgues? There are. That's what I mean by a "high-tech burial equivalent". Our system of body disposal is being overwhelmed, just like Iran's. It's just their methods of dealing with it are a little cruder.

No, what is being done now is what needs to be done.

What needs to be done is millions of tests a day. We did 100,000 yesterday.

what, tens of millions of people working in "essential" services, contacting millions of others around the country, going home to their families, is stopping the spread of such a highly contagious disease ? Surely you jest.

If you have an alternate plan to alleviate this, please indulge.

I agree more testing is needed, but until we are capable, we trudge forward.

Do you think having millions of "essentials" interacting daily and going home to their families is alleviating something?

No, just refrigerator semis. Very dignified. Die alone, shoved into refrig rig by forklift. No funeral.

Yesterday trumps own expert [Birx] was praising Washington and California as shining examples of how to manage a crisis, as opposed to how trump did it. in fact she was doing so about the time you posted here. LOL!

Oregon has seen very little infection.

Reading this thread three weeks after the op is very instructive. Note who posted and what they had to say.

Portland, SF, LA, and Seattle have far greater problems than the Wuhan virus.

    Not yet.

But when corpses are dumped by fork lift trucks in 18 wheelers, like unwanted road kill... I mean... the worst has still to come, and it's already like this.

I can see you are getting ahead of the curve and letting him off the hook for anything bad that happens.

The buck stops anywhere but with Trump.

This is a bit of a spun-up tabloid story. Saying "visible from space" makes a dramatic headline which I'm sure it getting them lots of valuable advertising clicks but it doesn't really mean anything given the quality of technology being used here. A single grave being dug would have been visible at this resolution. They also seem to have pictures from the ground too, so the satellite imaging isn't quite as revealing as they tried to make out.

That Iran is suffering lots of deaths from COVID-19 and that their government isn't going to be very forthcoming about the details, especially to western sources, is the only real information here and that isn't really news.

I've no idea what a report about burials in Iran has to do with the USA or Trump. Not everything has to be about you.

I somehow knew that Iranian burial pits would be tied to Trump one way or another. Incredible... and unhealthy.

Who said you get no funeral? Do you think they don't keep bodies refrigerated normally? People die alone often, in particular when it's from a very contagious illness.

I am not superstitious. I have to admit however that I don't like Iran having lost friends and colleagues to Iranian funded and armed insurgents in Iraq. Nice try at projection however. They are a stupid and backward country. I hope the Iranian people finally do the right thing for themselves and overthrow their govt. That would be a step in the right direction.

I worked a contract where our job was to find the killing fields in Iraq near Tikrit. We were taking radar images of suspected grave sites and providing GPS coordinates so that the grave sites could be investigated. The grave sites were located by radar because the soil in sabkha geological regions had a gypsum layer, which was radar reflective, underneath a shallow soil and sand surface. In order to dig individual grave sites, the gypsum layer had to be broken up in large areas or trenches because the gypsum tended to break up in something like ten foot by ten foot sections, which meant if you were going to open up new grave sites, you had to excavate entire rows in a large area so that digging new graves did not unearth older graves. What this means is that showing pictures of cemetery excavations in Sabkha soil regions does not mean that the Iranians are looking to bury hundreds of people. It means they are looking to add at least one more grave site. The excavation for the use of a single grave site will look exactly like an excavation for one hundred grave sites.

If you look at the photographs provided in the linked article, you will see that the soil in the cemetary is Sabkah and the proof of this is the chalky white ground in surrounding cemetery plots. What this tells me is that the linked article does not provide any evidence of a massive death count due to Covid 19. What it shows is that at least one new grave needed to be dug for any reason at all.

Perhaps, the biggest take away from the linked article is that the reporter just didn't do their homework to understand what they were actually looking at or to understand what the photgraphs meant. It is sad that the state of newscasting has deteriorated to this level.

Overthrowing a regime is no kids play, and I don't think all people think the govt. is the worst thing in the world, particularly under pressure (esp US inhumane sanctions).
By the way, the shrine licking man expressed his intention in the film to lick all the virus! So it was more misinformation than superstition

And may god lead you the right way for insulting the Iranian people.
For your information, the average Iranian is both smarter and better educated than the average American. That's why Iran has less infections per capita
