Interesting juxtaposition between the two candidates for our next president that highlights the difference between them. Trump is supporting the Navy while Biden is supporting the Captain that violated proper procedure. If Biden were elected there would be an immediate rift between him and our military. WASHINGTON—President Trump said he agreed with the Navy’s decision to fire Capt. Brett Crozier, the commanding officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, after a memo in which the captain pleaded for help with a coronavirus outbreak at sea leaked to the media. The president said Saturday that it was inappropriate for Capt. Crozier to write the four-page memo in which he demanded that superiors allow him to take the carrier to the port in Guam to offload sailors stricken with Covid-19, the pneumonialike disease caused by the virus. As of Saturday, 155 of the ship’s sailors had tested positive." https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-backs-dismissal-of-uss-roosevelt-captain-11586042319 "Earlier on ABC’s Sunday show, former Vice President Joe Biden, the likely Democratic presidential nominee, shook and bowed his head when asked about Captain Crozier. “It’s close to criminal the way they’re dealing with this guy,” he said, adding he should receive a commendation, not be fired." https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday...s-navy-firing-of-captain-is-close-to-criminal
When you are O-6 you know you are going to pay the price for breaking the chain of command. Article 15 is not applicable and they don't use the whip anymore at admiral's mast.
Yet there wasn't much damage when Trump forced the Navy to take back the murderer Eddie Gallagher. When Biden is President, he'll be commander in chief and the army will obey him.
Eddie was acquited but that has nothing to do with this breech of protocol and the differing reactions of the two candidates.
Trump went against Navy recommendations and forced his reassignment. So the Navy obeys the President. Doesn't it?
Biden sided with the Captain who broke chain of command. Trump sided with the Navy on this. It's a contrast of leadership which defines both candidates.
No. The Trumpsters have made it clear to me over the past three years that the commander-in-chief gives the orders and the army obeys. When Trump claims he knows more about ISIS than the military, the military has to deal with an ignorant man who thinks he's smart. The voters chose. It'll be the same thing when Biden's President. That's how life is made.
This really shows how out of touch Biden is. The captain's superior was on the same ship. So what does he do? Sends an un-secure e-mail to someone outside of his chain of command... And decides to CC to several others. "[Acting Navy Secretary Thomas] Modly is the responsible, accountable official to the American people. And he had reason to believe that the captain operated outside the chain of command and he relieved him," Modly said Crozier had cc'ed more than 20 people, including some outside the chain of command, over unsecured and unclassified systems, assuring the memo's leak. He also said Crozier did not speak to his direct superior, carrier strike group commander Rear Adm. Stuart Baker, about his concerns before sending the memo, despite Baker being on the carrier and living within feet of Crozier. Modly said Crozier was not fired for expressing concerns, but the way he chose to do so.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd . . . there you have it; the rest of the story which the leftist-allied mainstream media and their Dem Party leadership masters absolutely will NOT tell the nation. One wonders that our leftists never cease enjoying that their own MSM and leadership relentlessly lie to them about . . . well, pretty much about everything all the damn time.
The part where the capt violated the chain of command isn't clear to you? Keep dreaming about Biden being in the WH that was a good laugh.
Outside of that Fact That Biden is a Respected Statesman and Trump is an IMBECILE? Yes, agreed. The "Contrast" is Stark. Biden has Respect for the Armed Forces. Trump is a Draft Dodger (who has made a career out of Disrespecting America, Committing Treason, and Crapping on the Military). A "stark contrast"? Indeed.
Except he didn’t side with the Navy with Eddie Gallagher. Your premise doesn’t work. Like at all. Thread fail Side note: Man did you see that ovation the captain received. Truly a leader respected by his charges.
It is clear that Crozier broke the chain of command. I have to wonder if there were ways for him to accomplish the same goal without breaking the rules about outside communication. That in turn makes me wonder if it was a kneejerk reaction or if he felt he had no other option to get things done for his crew. I wonder what his crew thinks. I think there should be a high bar to clear before things like this are brought up publicly. If the Captain was in a corner and had exhausted all other options, I can sympathize. In that situation he would have known what he was doing and had likely chosen to do it with his crew's health interests at heart. If that were the case I may not agree with the method he chose, but I can respect his motivation. Or maybe he had an axe to grind. I don't know. EDIT: It now appears Captain Crozier has tested positive for COVID-19.
Biden supports breaking chain of command and that is the stark difference here with this captain that did just that. The ovation he got shows military discipline had broken down under his command.
Biden is a great statesman if your name is Hunter Biden. He's also good at enriching communist China and foreign energy companies that pollute the Earth. Now I see why liberals like him so much...
Biden supports leaders making hard decisions and choices. Captain made a good choice regardless of consequence.
How was breaking the chain of command a good choice? He accomplished nothing but losing his command and contributing to the breakdown of military discipline.
Chain of command needed broken in this instance. You can’t use following orders to do the wrong thing.
