    Only to someone with no adult critical thinking capacity past inapt analogies that both include "toilet paper."

    The difference between 1. a country so AFFLUENT and a DISTRIBUTION CHAIN of goods and services so ROBUST that our MIDDLE CLASS and even lower can spend the $$ to purchase "mass quantities" for MONTHS on end despite short term runs on "panic" goods;

    2. and EATING STRAYS and DUMPSTER DIVING with an utterly WORTHLESS currency and NO goods and NO distribution chain whatsoever, is one a child could parse. You can't though? Sorry bout that.

    And yet, we see dumpster diving, homelessness and abject poverty on a staggering scale in your capitalist utopia. It doesn't even take adult critical thinking capacity to see it. One simply needs functioning eyes.

    Sorry, "staggering scale" doesn't include things like bigfoot sightings and alien abductions. Rest is fluff, my previous post stands as not refuted. Not surprised given the source.

    Some are, or were, though it's a good deal less than used to be.

    And you really seem to dislike critical thinking, as well as just ordinary thoroughness in your thought patterns. Finland is definitely not the only country that has large socialistic sectors, and just the fact that its population differs markedly from Venezuela's is not really any indication that the number of people within a polity has any effect at all on the success or failure of socialism within it. Venezuela was living high on its oil revenues until the bottom dropped out of that commodity's prices. The Arab countries are an example of good management of a resource and Venezuela was not. Socialism is admittedly one part of that picture but only one and not at all the dominant factor according to most economists.

    They're high by our standards, but not high enough that the people there don't find life to be as good as or even better than our own. The people there probably don't have as much 'disposable' income as we do but they also don't have as much worries as we do about losing their life savings should they become ill or having to be homeless if they lose their jobs

    OTOH they've mostly never lived anywhere else so they don't know any better. OTOOH neither do we, mostly.

    The US is #19, the unhappiest we've ever been but still very good considering how populous and responsible we are as a world player.

    We don’t have TP because it’s such a low margin product no one is willing to retool short term to meet demand. Oddly there are two supply chains, residential and commercial. We’ve got a glut of commercial TP and shortage of residential. We’re wiping exclusively at home these days.

    An example of why the public sector steps into the private market if they deem the market won’t provide what the public needs.

    They won’t step in here but there are things the private market simply won’t do even if there is a market for a product.
