Trump is Mr. America

Our country has its good points and its not so good points. So does President Donald Trump. I honestly think he is Mr. America, which is good, or bad, or both, depending on your view of America. But consider:

The bad: He is loud. He is obnoxious. He is pushy. He is vulgar. He is xenophobic. He is politically incorrect. He is quarrelsome. He is cunning. He can be cruel. He is incurious. He is insensitive. He is a rabble rouser.

The neutral: He is opinionated. He is garrulous. He is provocative. He is rich. Women love him. Men love him. He is a tease. He is immune to criticism.

The good: He is competitive. He is personable. He is smart. He is self-confident. He is patriotic. He is tough. He is merry. He is generous. He is politically incorrect (It's a bad thing too ... sometimes) He is loyal. He is complimentary.

He is ... Mr. America.

 

I have a few quibbles with that... but its close enough.

 

I think you've hit on something here. I think Trump's popularity is because he appeals to our national and patriotic pride, he reminds us that we are Americans, that we are members of the greatest society ever created in the history of the world. The whiners and malcontents have always chosen whiners and malcontents to be their champions. America just doesn't roll that way and never will, something the left just doesn't get. Trump has exposed the haters as shrill but small in numbers and that we no longer have to put up with their arrogance or their bullshit. More than anything Trump has exposed the media for what it is and it is in decline. Without the media the rest of it has fallen like dominoes. Trump is far from perfect but it is his chuttzpah, his audacity, his stones that are American qualities we all wish we had in such quantities. Like some of our closest friends Trump is that lovable ******** who irritates us but would get out of a warm bed at 3am to come pick us up because our car broke down in a raging blizzard. I hope future conservative candidates remember the value of Trump's crusty veneer and golden core.

 

Ironically many of the bad points are the same as the good points, only worded differently. I disagree slightly: there is no evidence that Trump is xenophobic or incurious.

 

Trump fans need to remember that Trump was elected by only 29% of registered American voters. Trump is not "representative" of anything other than that 29%. He's nothing special. Putting him on a pedestal only reinforces the idea that a number of Trump supporters have become cultists, and must be dismissed as such.

 

Why does that sound like a toxic play boy man?

 

I think of Trump as Sun Tzu and PT Barnum rolled into one. Trump could have been a terrifyingly effective military leader and/or dictator in a different time. His Achilles heel is surprisingly too much compassion and trust of his fellow man, a dominant man's common flaw where underlings and subordinates are concerned, and it has come to the brink of undoing him several times.

Machiavelli himself could not have handled Complex traps/snakes like Fauci and Birx (hell 1000 others) as well as Trump. The too-frequent pressers? pure genius. This will be studied for 100s of years among whatever legitimate scholars are left.

His defusing, even turning to advantage, a whole bevvy of gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex snakes poised to strike from the very moment he announced, rising into a crescendo of bureaucrat-MSM Complex corruption in the COVID MORAL PANIC, has been objectively masterful.

They hate Trump most of all because he represents how INFERIOR they are in the present age compared to a time in this country where REAL men, not effeminate, corrupt buffoons, still held some power.

 

It’s hilarious that you compare Trump to PT Barnum and then ramble on in a diatribe that proves Barnum’s most famous quote of, “ ... a sucker being born every minute...”.

 

I agree with everything except what you consider "bad" should be labelled good also.

Trump was elected by 31.5% of the 200 million registered voters. Noticeably less than Obama's 43% in both 2008 and 2012, but only 1.5% less than what Hillary got in 2016. The key question is: so what?

 

Sorry, that should have read "eligible" American voters, not registered voters. Trump got 38% of registered voters. Still not a huge percentage.

 

Just pointing that the OPs claim of Trump "representing" Americans is specious at best.

 

I thought about that one; but remember that I am speaking to Trump detracts here as well as boosters. Even if you concede to them that yeah, yeah, he'd rather a well done steak than a plate of French snails or stewed Afghan goat eyes, but you have to take the sweet with the sour, to keep the culinary metaphor going.

Well, because he is, to some extent. But everyone is toxic to some extent. I certainly am. But the thing is that the medius misses is that people are not only not perfect, they want their leaders a little bit flawed. Trump does what they fantasize about doing. But they don't have the ability or the brass. That's one of the reasons Jimmy Carter was unpopular with men. He was too perfect. Maybe Obama, too.

And every heterosexual man in America, if he's honest, will admit he would love to have cavorted with a couple of Playboy bunnies. I have a hard time believing he even touched the filthy Stormy Daniels, because he can do so much better and she fellates men for a living, but even then, if it's true (he denies it), every man at least has had a fantasy about a porn star. Except me, because I don't have to fantasize. Google "Le Chef" next time you go on Pornhub, you dirty dogs.

Yeah, I think it's probably true. There are enough minor indicators. But I thought about putting that in the neutral column because, while I am polylingual and have vast experience with Asians and Latin Americans, I completely relate to my redneck friends who say things like "'you are in america ... speak american!" In other words, it's not racism, and note that I certainly don't accuse him of that. I suspect that deep down, he is pretty happy to be German/English and white. Don't you think that?

One of my favorite books is called "The Damnation of Theron Ware," about a pretentious preacher who wanted to mix with Catholic intellectuals because his congregation bored him. One of his antagonists got drunk, saw him at an outing, confronted him, and warned, "Stay among your own people, Rev. Ware." He was talking to me, really, and it hit me like a ton of bricks, LOL.

Well, I agree with half of that, but he certainly is "special," and that isn't necessarily good. I am not putting him on a pedestal -- I wish he would stop saying certain things, and I didn't vote for him, but I even acknowledged his flaws. I'm not saying he's Jesus.

Smart people don't call themselves "stable geniuses". They also don't think windmills cause cancer. They also don't predict deadly pandemics will go away, "like a miracle".

And I can go on and on with the stupid stuff Trump has said over the years. Do I have to? The man is a complete moron.

 

To tell you truth, I think most of what we've seen from Trump as far as his feelings about other countries are based upon fact, albeit politically incorrect facts. For example, his now infamous statements about Mexico sending us criminals and rapists is actually true. It's not that Mexico is deliberately sending them, but criminals and rapists do make it into the U.S. from Mexico. That is not debatable. But in the same statement he said that "I suppose some of them are good people", and he was right about that. A true xenophobic person would probably not allow that "some of them are good people". He also made a remark about "sh-thole countries". Totally politically incorrect, and yet we know there are "sh-thole countries" in this world. It's not a nice term, but regular people knew what he meant. Most regular people have probably used the term in casual conversation.

So I think Trump, having no filter on his thoughts most of the time, just says stuff that is true in his own unscripted way. So the liberal intelligentsia in the media/political world - who are steeped in political correctness - tag him with that "xenophobic" label.
