I am pretty sure Mexico is more worried about us. If they we're smart, they would ban travel from the US. Sealing the border would help them more than us right now.

Many countries are able to accommodate outsourced labor until the U.S. has capacity to fill the need. No reason to kill business - that would be counterproductive.

 

I just went through a major downsizing this year and I found out I really didn't need most of the stuff I had. I actually have more time, more money and more peace of mind. I guess I was conditioned to buy bigger houses, bigger cars, more of the newest gadgets. Yes my standard of living is down a couple notches. Thank God. I know now that I needed to just get back to the basics.

Anyway, as far as the article in the OP, I am in favor of any measure that can serve to eradicate the effects of the Virus.

 

It's not whataboutism if I say: the current administration could have done more, but whatabout previous administrations? It WOULD be whataboutism if I EXCUSED the current administration for doing something, or not doing something, based on a previous administration being guilty of the same thing.

And BTW, people wouldn't need to give up only bigger houses, cars, and gadgets. They would be giving up cell phones for the family, internet service, entertainment services, they would go out less often, etc. The bottom line: they would not live as nice a life. Yeah, I'm glad your happy, but I would never endorse protectionist measures. I doubt I'm the one in the minority.

To each his own AKS. I'm just saying for me that it works. Then again, I grew up very poor, when I was young. I think for many the future, unfortunately, is not going to be so rosy. I always noticed that Asians really had well kept homes, nice vehicles and belongings. They were just ordinary workers like the rest of us. What I learned is that they saved their money until they could buy quality. America at one time was all about quality even if it cost more. I'm all for America First and bringing our manufacturing base home. If Americans buy quality their standard of living actually will go up.

 

Trump has been President for three years. Time for Republicans to stop blaming Obama for everything. Of course that is about your only action since a Trump’s handing of the Pandemic is inexcusable.

First Trump did not stop all flights from China. And we now know that even within his own administration the warnings were out there way before he stopped some of the people coming in from China. And we have endless Trump quotes saying the virus was under control or it would go away with the warm weather, etc,etc. If you need a list of his lies just let me know if you can’t find them yourself.

But glad to see, even though your information on his Chinese ban is wrong, you admit that it was ineffective.

 

Keep trying. The unpreparedness is Trump’s sole fault. Hell he didn’t even take preparedness seriously till mid March.

A short time ago, Trump and his supporters were demanding we close the southern border because them dirty Mexicans would bring the virus into to kill Americans.

NOW, we see we need the Mexicans are utterly prepared for the pandemic, and they are going to come screaming into USA to get out of the pandemic getting to Mexican!

Pick one or the other, but neither matters because Trump and the Republican will continue hiring illegals for cheap wages to make the billionaires into millionaires just like they always have.
