It's a hellluva lot worse than that. You can fall off a cliff and get written up as a CV victim if you test positive.
And you don't trust dissenting physicians because....?
Doesn't matter, because they're not being presented for public perusal. What matters is the data extracted for use in statistical analyses generated for public consumption to justify this monstrous political power grab.
The weasel word hardly inspires confidence, but your standard is still too rigorous for Dr. Birx's taste, as you can see in the link above.
You'd never know it from this quote
because it's not even a direct quote, fercryingoutloud.
Sure it is, to those with a tunnel-visioned focus on COVID. For those concerned with the health of Americans generally, the focus is on accurate reporting, that we may avoid misallocation of limited medical resources - to say nothing of the threat this shutdown poses to national security.
Then his imagination is sorely deficient, seeing it's possible to have the virus and experience no ill effects.

No doubt it is a terrible thing and way too many people are dying. But the claim it is the leading cause of death in the US requires changing the definition of how that is calculated. When the standard reporting shows it to be the highest cause of death then it is the highest cause of death. Why the race to get it there? Does it have some particular interest to those who are pushing that theory? Is there an agenda?

If they're going to report it on a daily basis, then report it on a daily basis. If it's higher than all others on a day, then that's the report. If they report it on a month, then that's fine. Report on the month. But the OP claim was that coronavirus was the top killer at 1500 per day. It was not accurate.

According to the American College of Cardiology, 840768 die in the US every year from cardiovascular disease. That's 2303 per day. But 2303 per day is an average so some days are less and some are more. You can't even take yesterday or the day before, at 2400 dead, and compare it to last year's annual average. The coronavirus numbers for the past two days are only significant when compared against those same two days for cardiovascular disease. So if we're comparing apples and apples, the OP is wrong. Until someone can provide comparisons for the last two days, on all other possible comparisons, cardiovascular disease kills more - whether comparing this month, last month, the year to date, the last 12 months, or 2019...

Again, in the end, who cares? People are dying.. lots of them. Far too many of them. But if the OP had an agenda that led him to post the information, he was wrong. If he was simply pointing out what he thought was an interesting milestone or statistic - he was wrong. If you and others are interested in truth, he was wrong. It wasn't true.

4 times it was mentioned in the OP that it was deaths per day. Cardiovascular disease is a general term for many diseases, coronavirus is one disease

Then the OP must compare those same days of cardiovascular disease deaths. Otherwise, we only have the average for CVD which is 2303 and his OP deaths for coronavirus is only 1500 per day. He was wrong.

What the OP refers to is the current leading cause of death. If you are living in America today, the thing that is most likely to kill you is the coronavirus, the second most likely thing to kill you is heart disease. I should note that since I made my last post in this thread, another 2,100 American deaths have been reported related to the coronavirus. It was the leading cause of death yesterday, it is the leading cause of death today, and it will most likely be the leading cause of death tomorrow. In short, it is the current leading cause of death

but more importantly, whether or not the virus will remain the leading cause of death in the US depends on our actions, if the virus continues to spread more than it already has, these numbers could grow to be much much worse, but if we are successful at containing the virus, we will literally be saving thousands of American lives every day. The thing about the virus is out of the other dangers Americans are facing today, this one in particular is the most susceptible to change, however this can go in either direction. Things can get better, but they can also get much worse, which is why we need to take this very seriously

It makes me angry how so many people are being so intentionally obtuse when it's clear they understand the point. A few days ago it looked like we had starting going down in daily deaths, but they are rising again. There's a thought that they are merely catching up, which would be a relief of sorts. It may take a few days to see how we really stand. I really hope we are getting over the hump.

I already provided the proof, links and all, that you and the OP are wrong. 2303 a day of cardiovascular disease. You're making it up.

Making what up? Facts are facts. You can deny it's the leading cause of death each day, right now, but that doesn't make it less true.

I've provided the proof at http://politicalforum.com/index.php...of-death-in-us.570974/page-14#post-1071605223.

And, actually, more recently, the OP's assertion gets closer to true, perhaps even gaining truth on any given day. The problem is, the OP quoted a story that threw numbers out but no supporting links on the numbers. The OP had good intentions but his source was wrong. Accept it. Let it go. It's ok to be wrong. I should know; I was wrong... once.

Cardiovascular is another name for heart disease, currently Americans are dying from heart disease at a rate of around 1,700 each day according to the CDC. The numbers you provided are from the year 2017, they are not current. Usually more are added to the overall numbers over a period of time as more studies are conducted, however the same would apply for coronavirus related deaths. In fact some sources are suggesting the current numbers for coronavirus related deaths are expected to increase to over 4,000 a day as more research is finalized.

It doesn't seem likely that the numbers of cardiovascular disease hasn't gone down since 2017.

In any case, if were going to go day by day with the coronavirus deaths then we have to go day by day with the cardiovascular disease. If you take last month's average for cardiovascular disease then you have to take last month's average for coronavirus.

I don't care which way the numbers go between the two; either way, both kill far more people than I wish were dying. But if we're going to make a comparison, do it right. Had the OP said that coronavirus deaths were high and close to being the biggest killer, or among the biggest killers, or some days the biggest killer, then we could all have said, "Yes, you're right. That is sure sad and terrible." But he didn't say that and those defending him didn't say that. If you're going to be absolute, better to be absolutely correct. Otherwise, just a little generalization goes a long way - I know because I'm an absolute kind of guy. I've been bitten by the same things.

Again, last month doesn't represent the current rate at which people are dying. The most recent data we have for heart disease suggests people are dying from it at a rate of around 1,700 a day. Since I made my last post, another 2,600+ Americans have been reported dead from the coronavirus, which is likely to go even higher by the end of the day.

You might as well be arguing that there were 0 reported deaths in the US related to the coronacirus last year, so it isn't really the current leading cause of death. It is illogical to argue that the coronavirus is not the current leading cause of death by emphasizing on the past. Yes fewer people were dying from the coronavirus in past months, but that's because the virus hadn't spread as broadly as it has today. Past months do not represent the current danger, currently the coronavirus is the biggest threat to American lives, and when I say it is the biggest threat, I am not referring to people who are already dead, I am referring to people who are alive today. That is why it is important to emphasize on current numbers. For people living in America today, they are more likely to be killed by the coronavirus than anything else.

The comparison for last year would be last year's numbers for both and it would show that, last year, coronavirus was not the leading killer. If you want to make the comparison for today, make it for today. Get the numbers for all the top killers and show the comparison. Don't compare last month's cardiovascular disease with today's coronavirus; the comparison is invalid.

All I'm saying is to compare apples to apples.. this year's apples to this year's apples.. today's apples to today's apples. Otherwise, it's interesting discussion but cannot be shown to be factual.

So what you are saying is that it impossible for Fred at the car dealer have the best sales TODAY, because Steve has had top sales month-over-month for the last four years? Hmmm. What if Fred gets top sales for many days in a row? Is Steve still the top sales guy today? What if Fred never made a sale before 40 days ago, and then within 20 days, starts being one of the top per-day salesman? Is Steve still the guy who made the most sales today? Or, at some point, do we say, "hey, look at Fred... what's going on, here? What's different?"

I'm not ignoring it. I'm also not ignoring that virus' don't kill anyone at all. The coronavirus kills by pneumonia, heart disease (oh my..did I say it again?). It can attach to the kidneys and cause kidney failure that kills.. It is a lot of different types of death, just like heart disease.

And, of course, the CDC agrees with me and they report Heart Disease, as a whole, as the number 1 killer, pre-virus. All you need to do to be right is to prove that the virus was, on the day this thread was created, the number 1 killer by showing the death rate on that day, or whatever other measure you wish - just use the same measure for all compared killers.

Our most recent numbers from the CDC suggest that Americans are dying of heart disease at a rate of around 1,700 a day, and there is no reason to believe these numbers will go up significantly as more research is finalized. Our most recent numbers from the CDC on the coronavirus however show Americans are currently dying at a rate that exceeds 2,000 deaths a day, and the actual number is expected to be much higher as more research is finalized. Some research has suggested we have exceeded 4,000 deaths in a single day from the coronavirus. Now keep in mind, this is even after putting large portions of the economy in lock down

Another thing worth noting is the potential of these numbers multiplying even more than they already have. At the beginning of March coronovirus related deaths were reported to be around 4 a day, but since then the numbers have increased into the thousands. The numbers could potentially go far higher if this virus were to continue to spread even more than it already has.

Yes, pre-virus heart disease was the number one killer, however currently the CDC believes the coronavirus is killing more Americans than anything else. How long this will lasts depends on our ability to contain the virus
