No-one sacrifices lives for an economy which, according to Trump, was going gangbusters until Covid-19, and I see the idiot was today saying that as soon as 'he' can open up, there will be a 'boom.' Do you believe that crap?

It’s illogical and shortsighted to force parts of the country unaffected to abide by the same rules as NYC. It makes no sense at all.

The young and healthy should be back out to work with social distancing and masks. The old, sick and obese or anyone with conditions that makes them susceptible need to self quarantine or gamble their own life. Quite simple.

The country can NOT survive months of shutdown. What do we eat when farms are closing? Import food from CHINA? Yeah, you leftists would love that. Would love to investigate media sources who are spewing narratives that relieve China of responsibility and find out where the money is coming from.

We already know China is heavily invested in our hospital and education system and it’s becoming more and more possible they’re twisting major media sources as well now. All a slow burn to weaken and bring us down

 

A gradual and rolling re-opening is actually less likely to overwhelm hospitals, and it is hard to justify destroying an area economically when they've seen almost no other impact from COVID19.

However, I agree with @Robert E Allen about limiting interstate travellers, so people from infected areas don't try to seek refuge in these safer areas, leading to an explosion in cases because of what they may be carrying from their own highly infected areas.

 

We are on Stay At Home until June 10, with non-essential businesses closed until May 8th, per Governor order... If he relaxes either date based on new information, great.... If he extends, bummer. But it's his call..... Trump cannot change either date.

And my state has "only" 209 deaths, pretty low by comparison to other states (#12 in population - #18 in deaths)

 

The worst case scenario may be a return to "normal". "Normal" left a great deal to be desired as far as addressing the realities of human potential. "Normal" was destructively materialistic and doomed to catastrophe. Hopefully, this imposed change and waiting will elicit a positive collective response. We dearly need fresh approaches to society and economics.

 

Well, as of yesterday, it would appear that it is no longer his problem. He will allow the states to decide for themselves. If it goes badly, he can finger point. If it goes well, he'll claim credit. No lose for him at this point.

I think you're right. Look at the pushback Governor Whitmer is getting in Michigan, as an example.

On the other hand, imagine the pressure which will fall on the first couple of governors to reopen their states. If they even see one single death, they'll become a political football and they will be mercilessly roasted by the politicized left, as unwarranted as that roasting may be. That's just the way it has become in our current political climate. The left sees every death as an arrow to add to their quiver, and they want their quiver overflowing with arrows come November. Watching the economy tank is an added bonus, because they see it as pushing more people towards dependency, which is how the Democrats keep their stable full of voters.
