It was stated that all kinds of drugs are personal choices and should be made legal. I think you know the thought process. I don't state that Marijuana should be illegal. I just don't think it is edifying. Those that want it legal, promote it's use it seems.

I retract. I made a mistake. See how clear my mind is? I commend you for never smoking pot. I fell short in that category. Precisely why I know something about it's effects. My experimentation, use and sales lasted about 4 years. Not forty.

Have you followed the thread? There are several posts from members that eschew use of the plant themselves but have argued that it should not be illegal.

Furthermore, with respect to legality, kids aren’t allowed to do any of it unless, for an example, their doc prescribed some legal opioid that subsequently led to an addiction and death.

The US has a lot better issues to spend time and money on than preventing adults from consuming “illegal” plants.

Pot can be perfectly fine if used in moderation. Same as alcohol. It’s when people abuse these things that problem arise.

Then you advocate children of parents who take meth, have access and when there is a desire to imitate those parents, will take it also.

I have a four year old grandson. We finally got a protective order to take him away from his so called Dad. My daughter has produced colorings by this grandson of his so called dad sticking a needle in his arm. His dad called it "happy medicine". Pictures of family members always show them smiling. His so called dad always has an evil frown. The last time Vincent saw his Dad, officers had tackled him in the dirt and put handcuffs on him. You advocate a very happy, friendly culture. (note sarcasm)

No Grau.....I was referring to a whole plethora of posts I have read of Oliver's over the years and the flavor they dispense. My closeup vision is weak and when I am not wearing my readers, I often make mistakes. No judgement taken there! That is why I often depend on spell check. So I know exactly what you are saying.

On that same note, the word "boughten" tells you something of how a person speaks. That is a little indicative of a personality developed by forty years of constant marijuana use. Not that in itself, but as I said, years of reading Olivers posts couple with his/her admission of smoking pot for forty years. Had a close friend die recently. I grew up with him though he was a couple years older. I am friends with his brother to this day. Tom turned me on to pot when I was 16. Tom smoked pot 'til his death. He died a recluse with dementia in Florida. His brother flew there to clean up and reclaim the house. I saw what he left behind. I know what I am talking about.

I disagree. I'll have one beer and it has a calming effect. One doobie and my mind is altered.

No more than I advocate for children of parents who own guns to have access to them. Or have access to poisons around the house or have access to a pool. Sorry, but it’s impossible to police everyone.

Who says you have to have the whole doobie? I know lots of people who take a hit or two for a calming effect for them.

I don't hide my guns from my grandchildren. My parents never hid their guns from me. We were taught discipline and respect for weapons as well as bodies of water. I don't believe druggies are capable of respect.

That calming effect does put them in an altered state. Todays pot especially. It enhances food intake and passiveness.

I know, and they should be ranked with the worst with the amount of death and injuries they cause every year. Maybe that will get people to smarten the **** up.

By all means, advocate law based on your daughter’s unfortunate luck with her husband and note that in spite of the law and war on drugs this unfortunate outcome still occurred. I feel for you bearing this burden however this thread is about marijuana legalization, which has nothing to do with needles and the damage done. Best wishes to you and your daughter and grandson and to your son-in-law as well. I hope he can get his **** together.

Government (The People) should provide decent public transportation for everyone. Otherwise your argument has no standing.

A nation of people cannot long retain for themselves more individual liberty than they have tolerance for what others do, or don't do, with their individual liberty.

I am tolerant of what others do, or don't do, with their individual liberty only to the extent that I am covetous of my authority over and responsibility for my self.

The foundational question that all politics is built upon is, Who owns you?

My ex son inlaw was not tackled in the dirt because of harboring illegal drugs. It was because of his behavior produced by them. That will not stop if made legal. I don't believe any drug is edifying so why promote? That is what they purveyors of legalization do.

I think if our culture approves it there will be parents under drug induced plethora that offer it to their children. My ex son in law told me it made him perform better and I am sure there are folks in this thread that feel the same way.

Just like people who smoke cigarettes offer it to their children, right? Just like people who drink alcohol offer it to their children, right?

It looks like you are jumping to conclusions.
What strains did you try? It seems to me your experience is based on you trying regular street weed. Sativas, for example, are not altering your mind in any way. To me, any 100% strain feels like a light beer.

I want you to note something here ECA. I have not advocated legalizing or illegalizing anything here. I believe liberty "always" entails "responsibility". What if we made all drugs legal but anyone that incurred a loss in anyway to another while under the influence either gets life at hard labor or death? Don't think we have the moral courage to pass that judgement? Now we have a virus on hand that kills. So society has stripped us of our liberties to quarantine.....evidence that we do that for the safety of society. So you want to put the seal of approval on marijuana......but you realize that puts you in a camp that advocates it's use. So you have never used it. That's commendable. Are you comfortable partnering with those that advocate it's use? That would be my question for you. Would you stiffen and enforce the law that holds responsible those that harm others under the influence?.....or just a slap on the wrist?

I take hemp oil void of THC for joint pain. It is my understanding advocates for marijuana take it only because of it's mind altering THC content.

One thing I will add.....If I am in the company of friends and I enjoy a light beer... I don't know much difference whether or not I had a Blue Moon or any other.
