San Francisco is giving free drugs and alcohol to some homeless people isolating inside city-rented hotels during the coronavirus pandemic, officials confirmed Wednesday.

The city has handed out either booze, tobacco or medical cannabis to 43 homeless people with addictions to deter them from leaving the hotels and potentially spreading coronavirus, Jenna Lane, a spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Health told the San Francisco Chronicle.

“They’re doing San Francisco a great service by staying inside,” Lane told the paper. “We’re saying, ‘we’re doing what we can to support you staying inside and not have to go out and get these things.’ ”

City officials have officially become drug dealers, and enablers.

I would think if there was ever a time to get people off of drugs, now would be it. If its not now, when you're locked inside a hotel room for weeks, then when? Never?

Meanwhile, the city will turn around and ask for Coronavirus loans from the fed.

Just know Californians, that THAT is where your tax dollars go... to buy dime bags for bums who are living in nicer places then you are.

You get what you voted for.

Indeed. You voted for an orange clown and you got a circus.
Everyone is abandoning trump these days.
He couldn’t insult the virus away and now he’s cut and run from his duties as potus to focus on his re-election.
People are tired of the self absorbed preening popinjay and his endless diarrhea of lies.

    Okie dokie...

"During his 13th quarter in office, stretching from Jan. 20 through April 19, he averaged 47% job approval. That is four percentage points better than his previous high quarters -- 43% during his 10th (April 20-July 19, 2019) and 12th (Oct. 20, 2019-Jan 19, 2020) quarters in office."

But this is about city officials in San Fran buying sacks and cigarillos for bums who, again, are likely living in nicer accommodations than your average resident of California.

    Kinda ironic, in a way.

Well that isn't really fair is it. Providing alcohol and tobacco isn't drug dealing (otherwise, millions of stores would be guilty) and medical professions providing medicinal cannabis or methadone isn't drug dealing either. Your free to disagree with the policy but you should approach it honestly.

They're not locked in though. The reason to accommodation has been provided is to prevent them spreading COVID-19. If the authorities put too much pressure on to try to address established addictions, they'd risk the people just leaving. Sometimes you have to accept the least worst of two bad options.

The article very clearly states that no tax-payer funding is being used for this. Did you not read your own article or did you just make it up and hope nobody would notice?

Only in the US. Don't confuse their insanity with the real insanity in the ME with the CJ's convincing their kids to strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves up.

Orange Man Bad rant totally disconnected from the OP.

Translation: Democrats can act like total idiots because they don’t like Trump. That’s some twisted thinking there.

Dodge of the OP noted, not even going to defend liberalism at it's finest? Trump wouldn't be so stupid as to approve of what SF loons are doing.

It is actually cheaper than having them clog an already overcrowded hospital system

Have you any idea how many resources it takes to deal with someone in acute withdrawal? Cheaper to give them the booze

Who said kick them out no the street? Nothing wrong with sheltering them. That's not the point of the thread though

Again though acute alcoholwithdrawal puts people into a very life threatening situation

    https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/addiction/alcohol-withdrawal-symptoms-treatments#1

When health care resources are stretched it makes more sense not to put them in a situation where they reach a full blown withdrawal

Giving them drugs in a safe environment where they will be monitored for health problems and have access to resources to get better? Yeah sounds like a good policy to me.

That's because it's hard to abandon duties you never accepted as yours to begin with. Trump has never been a leader, and has never spent any time during his presidency actually leading, save for a handful of occasions in March and early April. But he grew bored of that. He's in it for the glamour and the attention and that's literally it.
