    • Recent polling suggests Europeans are turning away from the US under President Donald Trump's leadership.

    • Public opinion toward America has declined in major European countries since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

    • Seventy-six percent of Germans in a new poll said their view of America had deteriorated because of the crisis.

      • Well, MAGA is not going anywhere. Not surprising.

      • We will be followers shortly.

      • Unless we don't elect the impeached Narcissist. Then maybe our standing in the world will rebound to one of respect.

      • Instead of the current impeached prez getting laughed at on the world stage at world leader events.

Germany has been in bed with Putin for awhile now. They turned their back on us and NATO sometime ago.

But, The Good News Is For The American Tax Payer
paying for Euro security while they enjoy spending on "social benefits".

I look forward to the day the Euros invite all :flagus: military to leave.
All those :flagus: military personnel not spending in any Euro economy.
    etc. etc.

Obama, the EU, and China have been leaning toward Russia for a while.

Funny how Obamavoters loved Russia, and then Russia mysteriously accesses the election system during that same term.

And now you're complaining about separation of allies? No one buys this fake outrage.

Good, let Europe pay for their own defense. Imagine how much lower our own defense spending could be if Europe had to provide its own aircraft carriers, nuclear arsenals, and all other relevant equipment they leech off us...

What a bunch of fake news and malarky.

The best part about the internet is anyone can get a keyboard. The worst part about the internet? Anyone can get a keyboard.

Europe is full of Democrats and China is like the Democrat Utopia they want to fundamentally transform the world into.

When American Democrats impose Chinese Democrat style censorship on Americans, who can say things on the internet will be limited and regulated.

I remember when “world respect” was very important for Republicans, but they did sell many of their principles in 2016 — so I guess no one now?

Oh, Europe and other parts of the world won't need to do that stuff.

China and Russia will just take in that protection umbrella for the various countries.

What is sad is that the USA will still spend the same money, and probably more, on "defense" because the USA politicians is even more "threatened".

I would think liberals would be all for that. They are the ones that complain about our military spending. At least if we spent the same or more, it wouldn't be wasted defending scumbags that don't like us. Win/win...

Nice opinion piece. Even taking Europe out of the equation, there is no shortage of division here. Division is Trumps best friend. He is not the reason for division, he is a symptom.

Trump is an accurate representation of the American people. We deserve their deteriorated view as much as we deserve Trump.

    China? Really?

The country that banned all movement out of Wuhan except international flights to intentionally spread the virus to Europe and the U.S.?

Gosh, I just can't understand why a continent that Trump has, more than once, treated as enemies and adversaries would sour on the United States.

I agree, that was a dirty move, no doubt about it.

But it wouldn't have mattered if they had banned all travel, the virus had already spread. They would have had to ban travel within the first 2-3 weeks of the virus emerging(before enough was known about it to figure out what they were dealing with), and they would have had to do it from the entirety of China. Actually, the entire world would have needed to ban travel, and even that probably wouldn't have worked.

Nothing short of a complete and total worldwide lockdown at a level not a single person in the United States has experienced would have worked. We could barely have the mitigation efforts that we did here without folks confusing the prudent steps to dealing with a contagion with attacks on their freedoms.

So the spread was pretty much guaranteed. At that point, the only option left is to slow the speed of the spread which is what we've done. And it's worked, though we're going to be taking some backsteps here as the country opens up. But the country does have to open up at some point so the only rational thing to do is try to balance reopening with continuing to mitigate spread. That means some places may need to go back to stiffer lockdowns if the spread starts increasing as a larger rate.

My hope is that the summer months help with it.

So Europe’s is madder at the United States than China?

I guess the people from Europe are not the brightest bulb’s on the tree.

I couldn’t care less what Europe says or thinks.

What really makes me sick is Americans who defend China.

Ridiculous OrangeManBad opinion piece by a company that owns massive stakes in Chinese companies & has collaborated with the criminal Chinese communist government to imprison Chinese dissidents!

Among other crimes, including spying on citizens of the US (and of course rigging search results)!

    Thank you !

    I couldn’t agree more.

Europe’s values are more aligned with Mao than Adam Smith. This realignment makes sense.
