Okay the pictures are moving but, from an Aussie point of view, very funny.

Please explain. It was funny, but ... why is a dog afraid of a cow?

    That is the irony.

Ok.... thanks. You said from an Aussie point of view. I think it's funny no matter where. :)

Yes.....that was influenced by the very obvious bush/outback Aussie accent.

I've always been fascinated with Australia. You can thank Colleen McCullough for that. It's been 40 years since I read The Thorn Birds, and I've easily read it 25 times. So, had a flight booked once, and numerous dreams later, I find out the coral reef is dead. I imagine the bush isn't nearly as glamorous as I imagine, let alone the outback. I had fun with McLeod's Daughters. My plan is to cruise there for our 15th anniversary, about five years from now.

The Reef is not dead. There are some parts of it that are. It a vast living organism, under threat, but alive still. Nothing ever was 'glamorous' about the bush/outback, but it offers other fantastic delights, not the least of which is very clear skies with stars everywhere, the Southern Cross, and some big bad boy kangaroos, ignoring all the other bastards who have a hard-on for you. And, of course, there are the locals, your genuine typical Aussie knockabout bloke. You can still find them everywhere in the Cities, even in the Judiciary, but they are far too busy to have fun like those fellas out there do. Mind you, a couple of beers even with the City blokes, and there is an Aussie. Give away the cruise, and go tour the outback. Uluru, Kakadu, Alice Springs, Darwin, Birdsville, North Queensland, Broome etc etc etc, (a mile-long list) and never overlook Tasmania. Fantastic historical sites. You will never regret it.

Sometimes a cow will turn on a dog and chase him.

Cows are big buggers. Standing your ground is not a smart thing to do if one is serious about chasing you. They're mostly pretty docile and timid though so a better question might be why are the cows not afraid of the dog.
The answer usually has something to do with protecting a youngster.

Summer job working for a small town street dept. We'd picked up a load of cold patch, the stuff you use for filling in pot holes. A car was riding our bumper and the driver reached down and started to raise the dump. The car backed waaaaay off.

That bumper alone would cause most to back off, that's alot of steel to play "rock, paper, scissors" with!

My sister had a water well drilling business. First thing they did with a new truck was to take off the bumper and replace it with a length of 6" well casing. Did the job just like you said.

My friend recently called the back window protector (like the one pictured) "beanered up". Well, the other day we went to pull a 9 ft piece of 8 inch, thick walled pipe from a dumpster that had about a one ton slab of concrete on top, we had a big round tow rope but needed more length, so a chain was added. I was outside the truck and far back as momma raised no fool, I saw it...he dislodged the massive pipe from the slab and shoulda stopped, but kept on the gas, the chain let loose and hit the tailgate at an angle, dented the steel pretty good. Told him he just had a near death experience. Had he pulled straight...but he knows better. Anyhow, no such thing as too much steel or window protection. We got it, we then pulled the trailer alongside and dumped it, a couple ft, from atop the dumpster.

I used to have an old VW camper, if I was only going a short distance or was too lazy to stick it on the roof rack I could fit my kayak inside if I rested it on the top of the passenger seat. It was a tight fit but just went in. One day I didn't quite put it in far enough so when I shut the back door it pushed the canoe through the windshield. Doh!
I stopped being so lazy after that.

Ah, modifications. I had a very nice Sekei bicycle, aluminum alloy wheels and shimano gearing. Definitely a target for bicycle thieves when on campus. I painted it metallic flakes purple covering the decals and put baskets on it and I never, ever cleaned the wheels too much. I sold it 20 years later for nearly what I paid for it. The buyer liked my camouflage.

With my recumbent, I never worry about theft in this small town (though there is plenty of it, meth is a scourge here) It's so distinct everyone may not know me by name but they know the bike and the guy with long hair and beard it belongs to! Plus, if you have never ridden one, you are not going to jump on it and just haul ass. Very awkward, like learning to ride all over again.

I refuse to be publicly shamed into not wearing socks with sandals.
    Ugly feet issues eliminated.
