Trump retweets a video saying ‘the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat’
“A video by an account called “Cowboys for Trump” in which the speaker begins by saying, “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.” The speaker quickly qualifies that he’s not speaking literally.“

“At precisely midnight, the president felt this was the kind of message that people needed to see. “Thank you Cowboys. See you in New Mexico!” he said in a retweet.“

“What lay ahead was entirely predictable. People are rightly pointing out that a president just promoted the idea of dead Democrats. Trump will have the kind of plausible deniability he craves — the guy even said he wasn’t being literal!“

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...dead-democrat/

The question becomes why? Why would the President of the United States purposely retweet a message that even hints at killing nearly half the American public? What is the purpose? What is gained?

Does it unite the country burdened by a pandemic? Does it easy Americans anxiety with current conditions? How does it help those unemployed? How does it show empathy for the families of the hundred thousand casualties of the virus?

What is the objective here, and is it worth it, especially given what Americans are experiencing?

I take this as serious as the "killallmen" hashtag that the Progressives rushed here to post after post about "nuance" and "sarcasm" and "context".

I'm not taking the message as saying that Democrats should be 'killed'. I think it intends for people to take it that way, allowing for the right to criticize the left for panicking.

Instead, I want to understand why Trump would support a notion that would leave the country with one less party. Forget the word 'dead' - and consider the fact that the poster and Trump would prefer that the Democratic party no longer existed.

Perhaps the "party" that was responsible for three years of trying to remove a President by any means outside of the JFK method should not exist?

Might as well just join up with the Communist party anyways why hide it anymore? ( not you Dem leadership)

So, then, you are in agreement that the Dem party shouldn't exist?

Simple, trump wants to win the election and he’ll do anything. We already know demagogues incite violence to help themselves and trump will have to create as much fear and hate as possible if he wants to keep his supporters motivated and compliant.

Lol...perhaps the party that spent 8 years praying to God to kill the Obama family should not exist.

I can't believe the President isn't happy with Dems after they spied on his campaign illegally, wasted three years pushing a Russian hoax they knew was a lie, and created a hoax impeachment....

Today's "Dem party" is toxic, divisive, and anti-America, thanks to the extremists who have taken over. I would love to see it crash and burn and be replaced with a more moderate, rational version.

I'm an Independent. I don't have any party loyalty carved in stone and I've never voted part-line for either side (heck, I voted for Obama in '08.) But the Democrats have become so :censored: I almost can't see ever voting for one again unless something drastically changes.

So no, I wouldn't mind at all seeing the Democrats go down in flames, in hopes a better, more viable party would rise from the ashes. (I have Dem friends who feel the same way.)

I am still having a hard time comprehending why the President of the United States in the middle of a generational crisis that needs unity to confront would go out of his way to echo an implication that the country would be better off if nearly half of all Americans were dead.

Taken literally or not, why, especially at this time?

It is beginning to seem that you are correct, Trump really don't care about the country or its citizens, rather, he cares about Trump, and given such, any means are acceptable if the end serves Trump

Oh, so in the middle of a generational crisis that demands unity to confront you see no problem with the President who is suppose to be uniting the country to echo thoughts that nearly half the country should be dead

Just what the Founding Fathers had in mind, a Chief Executive of the country implying that he thinks the country would be better off if roughly forty percent of all Americans were dead, and during the middle of a generational crisis no less, beautiful

So maybe now you can respond to why would the President of the United States purposely retweet a message that even hints at killing nearly half the American public? What is the purpose? What is gained?

The Democrats are actively trying to destroy the economy and the country in hopes of using it against Trump so they can win at the ballot box in November. That merits repeating: Democrats are actively trying to destroy the economy and the country to gain political power. I'm not okay with that. While the Democrats are going after Trump, it is YOU and ME and EVERY TAXPAYER who is effected. I'm not okay with being collateral damage in the Democrats' power grab.

People need to KNOW this. They need to know what is going on, so they can stand up against it.

I would argue there is no better time than now to go after the Democrats.

Oh, and I'm ROFLing at the idea of leftwingers crying about divisiveness after eight years of Obama. Seriously, your messiah opened that Pandora's box, and you all cheered. Don't cry now when the shoe is on the other foot.

I wish we weren't so divided, but that dance takes two. The left can't spend eight years dividing the country ---- and then all of Trump's presidency trying to divide the country even more ---- and then complain because Trump isn't sweet old Mr. Rogers.

So you still can't address the questions I keep asking, you are regurgitating a lot of talk radio rhetoric, but still haven't told us why would the President of the United States purposely retweet a message that even hints at killing nearly half the American public? What is the purpose? What is gained?

I'll give you one more chance. The answer you claim to seek is right here:
(In case it's too much to digest in one reading, I bolded the most critical part. You're welcome.)

If people are just now realizing Trump is only about Trump I guess being late is better than Never. There is a reason I did not vote for him, and it wasnt because I was a fan of Hillary. I would have voted for almost any of the other Republican Nominees over Hillary but there was no way in hell I was going to vote for Trump
