George Floyd autopsy report surprise! Links: https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/floyd-autopsy-minneapolis-death/2020/05/29/id/969732/ https://www.complex.com/life/2020/0...erlying-health-conditions-likely-caused-death https://www.wavy.com/news/national/...-physical-findings-of-asphyxia-strangulation/ https://www.complex.com/life/2020/0...erlying-health-conditions-likely-caused-death From the first linked story (emphasis added): George Floyd died from the combined effects of being restrained by police, potential intoxicants and his underlying health issues, including heart disease, according to preliminary findings from an autopsy. It revealed nothing to support strangulation as the cause of death, the Associated Press reported. “Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease,” said the complaint from the Hennepin County Attorney, the Washington Times reported. “The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.” The complaint offered no other details about intoxicants, and toxicology results can take weeks, the AP noted. In the 911 call on Memorial Day that drew police, the caller describes a man suspected of paying with counterfeit money as “awfully drunk and he’s not in control of himself.” Now, let the police involved in this incident be charged with crimes, and let fair trials be conducted. That is right and proper, and it's the way we DO things in the United States..... But what is the justification for one American city after another being sent roiling in chaos, anarchy, and destruction by mobs of rioting, agenda-driven haters...?
You need to disaggregate. There are protesters, there are kids that show up looking for trouble, and there are opportunistic criminals. The Black community has been hit twice as hard by the Corona virus. They have been hit harder by the economic woes, they live with several flavors of racism and the occasional police brutality. We had a long hot summer in the 60s after MLK was killed. Because we have only partly dealt with the problems, I knew it was just a matter of time before the unrest would once again boil over. And now, here we are.
The left has been on such a push to label every death a COVID death, I don't know how they let this one slip thru the cracks
The China virus is a vicious, out of control plague on our society. Apparently it has been discovered by many leftists and media, it is also a racist virus!
George Floyd died from the combined effects of being restrained by police, potential intoxicants and his underlying health issues, including heart disease, according to preliminary findings from an autopsy. So, question for you, if only the last 2 things I bolded were present, would he most likely still be alive today??
Sure, but they don't really matter anyway.... unless they say conclusively the cops actions had nothing to do with his death, which I don't anticipate....
More than likely. Same as if he wasn’t trying to pass off bunk cash I guess. Kind of a chicken or the egg thing.
Nobody has said as of yet if a knee on the neck is one of the department's approved restraining techniques for people who fight during an arrest. All that has happened so far is leftist loyal media outlets and the DNC's race-agitating leadership HOWLING about murderous White cops. Very interesting; especially considering that the autopsy just proved that the knee on the neck did not kill the man. But racist Biden keeps blowing it with Blacks and so it was necessary for the leftist loyal MSM to gin up a race riot inside this nation in order to fix what Biden keeps politically breaking.
Even if his heart leapt out of his body and said, "I did it. The cop had nothing to do with it," no one would accept it and the riots would continue. That being said, there's no reason to kneel on a subdued man's neck for 8 minutes.
He likely had a heart attack due to stress. He should have been allowed to stand up or sit in the patrol car. The knee on the neck was clearly excessive force.
But the cops didn't know any of that when they arrested him - so can you explain why he kept his knee on his neck for 2 min and 53 seconds after he'd gone limp? Are you suggesting that what the cop did was justified? Are you not horrified that this happened?
The honest answer is, "Hell, I don't know!" The word "IF" encompasses a lot, Egoboy. IF George Floyd hadn't gone into that Target store trying to pass a counterfeit twenty-dollar bill and acting so "out-of-control" and weird that they called the cops, he might surely be alive today! Woulda, coulda, shoulda...! "Oh, if only __________ (fill in the blank)". But, to anticipate your next comment -- NO, the cops should not have done what they did, either, even though the coroner's report states that Floyd did not die of strangulation! The cops will be brought up on all relevant charges, given fair trials (we hope), and sentenced accordingly if they are found to be guilty of crimes. But, that's not good enough for the mobs of looters, arsonists, rioters, and the other trash who've boiled up out of the gutters in more and more American cities because they think they are entitled to do so because they're so 'aggrieved'....
A virus will exploit any weakness. Our racism is just such a weakness. But because the virus is utterly egalitarian, it will exploit that weakness on it's way to a 2nd or 3rd breakout. Stupidity comes with a price tag.
Let's assign the blame where its due - CNN. In all fairness, the rioters, anarchists, haters and genuine protesters against police brutality were led to believe that it was the policeman's knee that killed a poor fella. Have they known his medical history, that he was drunk and not in control of himself, perhaps they would not riot so hard? They would, 'cos CNN!
No... nobody is defending what the cop did. The coroner's report simply makes it clear that Floyd did not (NOT) die because of strangulation. I suggest you re-read the opening post again, and visit the four links I provided... the coroner's findings say what they SAY, and, they don't say what they DON'T SAY.... The cop(s) will be charged with crimes, given trials, and, if guilty, punished according to LAW (as it should be). Hundreds of arsonists, looters, rioters, and other trash, however, won't be....
Don’t waste your time. The whitewash has begun. The racists are slavering at the mouth to turn the murder victim into a worthless thug and paint the racist cop as the victim of a witch hunt.
Admit it, this changes alot. I was down with the narrative that the cop basically strangled the perp with his knee. If the coroner found no damage to the man's throat, that means the officer did not apply much force. This would explain why he kept his knee on the man's throat. He knew he was not applying enough force to harm the suspect. Unfortunately for him, HE DID NOT KNOW THAT THE MAN WAS HAVING A HEART ATTACK. What are the chances of a suspect having a heart attack during an arrest.... one in a billion, one in ten billion?
I’d say that living in a racist shithole where cops murder them with impunity and people call them trash is already punishment.
I agree, it changes everything. The optics are still terrible but the reality is the suspect might have died anyway even without the knee to the neck.
It is? Is Minneapolis Police Commissioner... is he White or is he an African-American? For if he's White, surely it's his fault and his alone for permitting such racist technic to exist in the Department's arsenal!
OK, Joe, tell us all what part of the coroner's report is inaccurate or false. Please be specific. BTW, the REAL "racists" are the criminal opportunists running amok in the streets of our cities, setting fires, destroying buildings and cars, and stealing everything they can lay their hands on in stores after they wreck them.... The cops are being charged with crimes and will stand trial, and that's a very good and necessary thing! But, will any of the scum and trash that are ravaging Minneapolis, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Denver, etc., etc. ?
Oh, if we're going to change topics to the riots....... An arrest was made and charges were brought, so the riots should return to being protests... Not remotely enough here to warrant rioting, IMHO EDIT, there's not one helluva lot of room between dying due to the "combined effects of being restrained by police..." and "strangulation" in my book... that's just autopsy legalese...
Underlying conditions don’t change the fact that the cop acted as a catalyst. His gross negligence caused the death. It’s a manslaughter 2 case.
