Democrats once again reap what they have sown and blame it on whitey as they burn down their own cities. Brilliant...

As someone who lives in the suburbs, this is simply a TV show.

Let me check out the webcams around my red state Midwest suburban city.

    Looks quiet and peaceful.

You hear about that guy that got kicked out of antifa? He walked past a big plate glass window and didn't even TRY to break it.

"With attitudes like yours," they told him, "we'll NEVER destroy this pig society!"

Yeah, I'd say your insinuation is baseless and, how shall I say... not smart

    God bless America. :flagus:

Apparently you have never been to Portland. Neither has the Heritage Foundation author who wrote the propaganda piece you quoted. Alleys are not a Portland thing. There is one here or there out on the edges of town, but for the most part there are no alleys in Portland.

The Heritage Foundation is fond of putting out anti Portland propaganda. So much so, that just from a cursory attention to the national dialogue one would get the idea that Portland had one of the worse homeless problems in America. Yet if one looks into it, Portland doesn’t even crack the top ten. Places like Topeka Kansas, Tulsa Oklahoma, and Pensacola Florida have worse problems. There are something like four dozen cities with worse homeless problems than Portland. But than I had long known that, as I came from Boulder, and Denver clearly has a greater homeless problem than Portland. Culturally, I think that there is no place that beats Boulder. However Oregon has more humongous trees than any other state. For those who love living with nature, no place beats Oregon. Oregon is the state that is predicted to most benefit from and weather global warming.

The beauty of the internet is that I can display on my monitor a dozen or more little screens, each streaming the local news from a different city. While the protest in Minnesota are well organized and mostly peaceful, the protests in Chicago and LA have mostly given way to wanton destruction and massive looting. When one looks closely at those doing the looting, the looters are almost exclusively Black. There was one clip I saw where a group pried off the security grating covering a window. When they had succeeded, a swarm of people, dozens, all Black, poured in and came out with armloads of goods that were loaded into cars as the perpetrators went back for more.

Last night, on the news, they announced that the 911 call system had been so overwhelmed that it was no longer working in LA. The police were busy elsewhere, and these gangs of looters were taking advantage of the situation.

In first grade, my first friend was a little black boy and I have always thought that most Blacks were okay, just other people. I even feel sympathetic towards the plight of Black people in America. But when I see, probably thousands across the country, of swarms of Black people looting and burning store after store...

When I lived in Colorado I once did an art exhibit. It was a panel with pictures on both sides. I had driven around Denver taking pictures with downtown in the background. I called it Two Sides of Denver. On one side I posted photographs that I had taken where the foreground was in a park or lush lawn. Looking at that side one would get the idea that downtown Denver sat in the middle of lush garden community.

For the other side I used photographs I took pictures with trash and broken buildings in the foreground. From that side of the display one would get the idea that downtown Denver rose out of an apocalyptic community.

Do you have the photos or pictures of the entire panel? As a Colorado born and raised I’d enjoy seeing them.

I no longer feel sorry for the people in the states where the violence is located.

They elected leftist leadership who let the thugs run wild. Even I knew the national guard should have been called on Tuesday (five days ago) and I’m just a white collar “paper pusher” with no military or police experience.

I have been watching the news on this quite a bit, switching from city to city. In both Chicago and LA, from watching dozens of video clips, the looters are almost exclusively Black.

However the trouble makers in places like Denver and Portland seem more interested in confronting and harassing the police and seem to be mostly white.

When I was a kid we used to play this game. A group of us would be walking and along would come a police car. Just as the police car reached us, we would take off running in all different directions. The you’d see the police car driving up and down the street looking for us with its spotlight. Sometimes the police officers would get out of their car and look around with their flashlights. It seems to me, nowadays we would have been shot at.

You insinuated commonality between the american revolution and the current thuggery.
    Live with it.

Today's Rioters: "I regret that I have but one molotov cocktail to throw at a police cruiser."

Nathan Hale: "My only regret is that I have but one life to give for my country."

    Sorta different, I'd say.

It was in the eighties. I don’t know if I still have them. If I remember right, the prettiest pictures was a couple taken from City Park and one from the large telephone switching building’s lawn at that is at, I’m not sure, maybe 40th and Pecos Street. The ugliest ones were taken from East Colfax and the industrial area just north of I-70.

Just as a vantage point, I have always thought that the best place to view Denver is at 84th and Federal. It is at the edge of the plateau that is the highest point in the Denver metro area and most of the city can be seen. It can be quite a dramatic view at night, as a sea of lights fades off into the distance.
