Numerous studies have shown that acting more aggressively by putting social distancing measures in place as little as a few weeks earlier could have saved tens of thousands of lives. Trump's record of ignoring warnings so as not to disrupt the economy is well documented. Arguably, and prez, Repub or Dem, would have acted sooner than he did. Consequently, fewer deaths and less economic damage.

Just so I understand what you are saying..........you're justifying the use of flash-bang shells, gas and rubber bullets being fired at peaceful protesters, endangering them and the police forcing them to disperse, so Trump could get his picture taken outside a nearby church? Is that really what you are saying?

Oh! There are things that are “evil” but for the most part those come down to “will it hurt others”

    upload_2020-6-2_22-48-36.jpeg

I consider it even when people put their own selfish interests above others such as those who are endangering others by ignoring health precautions

But there is no “force of evil”

People do not wake up and decide they will live a life of evil. Satan is not running around signing up democrats

Mostly people do “evil” deeds because they put self interest above the interest of others

No. What I’m saying is that a president has the right to visit sites of rioting and he has the right to have protection. Which means the area has to be cleared.

The people who were told to clear the area and then refused were disobeying orders from officers. Because of that they had to be forcibly removed.

You can’t just resist a police officer lol

Visit a site of rioting? For what purpose? He wanted to go the a local church for a photo op. Not to diffuse the violence. Not to speak about the injustice. Not for prayerful reflection. So a picture could be taken that would please religoids even though Trump is the least religious prez in modern history.

“He did not pray,” said Mariann E. Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington. “He did not mention George Floyd, he did not mention the agony of people who have been subjected to this kind of horrific expression of racism and white supremacy for hundreds of years.

Hope Hicks, a presidential adviser, eventually hatched a plan with others at the White House to have the president walk over to the building (the church), according to an official familiar with the events.

The bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, who watched the scene unfold while away from the church visiting with her mother, said church officials were not told of the plan and expressed outrage at the White House’s use of riot-control tactics on a generally peaceful crowd to clear a path for the president."

Because they are trolling. It’s very obvious who is trying to have an honest discussion and who is flinging poo. Trump takes charge and he’s a dictator who doesn’t know anything and should leave it to the experts. He delegates and hes not doing anything. Because ONE MAN should be personally managing every city in the country and telling them exactly what to do step by step? Obama was praised for letting others do work they know how to do. Trump apparently needs to be an expert in everything and personally oversee every dotted I and crossed T. It’s utter lunacy.

When nobodies on forums and Twitter say idiot thing like this, it’s just trolling. But when politicians and our media who obviously know better are saying the same things, it’s disturbing.

All of that was your opinion.

Oh and the opinion of a bishop. And was this bishop at her church comforting her parishioners? Nope. Oh that’s right, she was too busy giving interviews criticizing the president for visiting her desecrated church while she sat on her ass from a safe distance at her mommy’s house.

'The Bible is not a prop': Religious leaders, lawmakers outraged over Trump church visit
    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/po...ers-outraged-over-trump-church-visit-n1221876

WASHINGTON — Lawmakers and religious leaders — including the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington — voiced outrage after police used tear gas against peaceful protesters outside the White House before President Donald Trump's photo-op at nearby St. John's Episcopal Church on Monday evening.

The Rev. Mariann Budde, bishop of the Washington diocese, said Tuesday that Trump held up the Bible in front of St. John's "as if it were a prop or an extension of his military and authoritarian position."

The Rev. James Martin, a prominent Jesuit priest and author, said in a statement, "Using the Bible as a prop while talking about sending in the military, bragging about how your country is the greatest in the world, and publicly mocking people on a daily basis, is pretty much the opposite of all Jesus stood for."

He added: "Let me be clear. This is revolting. The Bible is not a prop. A church is not a photo op. Religion is not a political tool. And God is not a plaything."

They should have been notified the area was off limits before they assembled. This was a spontaneous decision followed by display of force, provoking the protesters, because that is what Trump wanted to be done. He wanted to "dominate" them.

'Tear-gassing peaceful protesters without provocation just so that the president could pose for photos outside a church dishonors every value that faith teaches us. We call upon the president, law enforcement and all entrusted with responsibility to respect the dignity and rights of all Americans,” Pelosi and Schumer said."

Since when did disobeying police orders not become a provocation?

I think the rioters and looters have gone a long way to mess with the notion of peaceful protesting. But I also believe many are happy to willfully combine and condemn the two.

But the dark side of these protest will inevitably lead to all of our loss.. Next step will be civil combat with the Guard and Law enforcement...

I agree. We are seeing protesters do what they can to stop the violence, but their intentions cannot match the desire to destroy. I was heartened, however, to see far less activity last night. Perhaps the rioters are tiring themselves out?
