There was ZERO indication that GF resisted arrest.

You will never see me ever excusing Floyd’s death. Chauvins actions were inexcusable.
So, let’s wait for conclusion of investigation and let’s wait for real facts to come out.
My point was more of an “in general” thing. In 99% cases, aggressive cop is the result of resistance. I was arrested in Minneapolis myself once and instead of fighting the cops I had the attitude “if I have to go through this, the sooner I’m in, the sooner I’m out”. I was even asking the cop what’s taking so long.
I’m an immigrant. My dad moved to the US when I was very little and joined him when I was a teenager. The first time before I sat behind the wheels my dad had a conversation with me. He said - American cops are armed and are known to shoot those who resist the arrest. If you ever have to deal with a police officer, and when you start driving you interact with law enforcement a lot more than if you don’t, you should never make sudden movements, always have your ID, insurance card and other things you might need to present to the cop ready, out of your pockets. Never dig into your pockets when a cop is close because they can think you have weapons.
I followed this advice all of my life and no American cop ever made me feel threatened. I will pass down this advice to my own children and will advice it to be passed down to their children.
Why isn’t this simple wisdom being passed down between black families? Why do they think it’s OK to fight cops? The cop can be 100% in the wrong, but if you fight that cop, your chances of dying skyrocket and instead of waiting for court to decide your case you might end up dead or in a hospital over a small and trivial thing. Officers job is to bring you in. They are not in a position to sentence someone and carry out that sentence. Many seem to miss that.

I just could not make myself wade through all of the O.P.'s smug anti-police officer screed. I will note, however, that almost all of these events happen inside long time controlled Dem Party cities with the Dem politicians being totally responsible for what type of training their police officers receive inside their academies and totally responsible for how those officers enforce those training policies on the streets of Dem Party controlled cities . . . and yet ALL end results are somehow the fault of conservatives.

So in reality this is just another example of the political Left point-blank refusing to accept any responsibility whatsoever for the results of their own policies, no matter what.

Is it the law enforcement officers themselves? Or is the problem ultimately the policies and directives that came down from elected officials many decades ago, which have only been institutionalized over the passage of time, and are now so ingrained into society in the united states that it is physically impossible to do anything about them?

Exactly. Police unions and democrat mayors made it next to impossible to fire a cop. I read in Chicago Tribune yesterday that the mayor is calling for firing of a cop that was flipping off the protesters. Then the rest of the article listed steps that must be taken to take a cop off the streets - just for flipping the cop will have to go through several commissions and the process can take up to 2 years. Think about how insane it is - removing a cop from the street involves 2 years of bureaucracy. And that article didn’t even mention that the police union can override most of the decisions the final commission makes.
Democrats run those cities, they appoint police superintendents, Democrats run police unions who donate to the party handsomely and then when these people produce a monster they point their fingers at the president of the US, or at republicans in general when their guy runs this country. So, Democrats get rewarded each and every time their system malfunctions. You can’t make this sh!t up!

It’s more of “BLACK LIVES MATTER only when white cops are the killers”.
I live in Chicago area. Daily massacres of blacks by blacks are a daily norm. I guess black lives don’t matter in south Chicago.

You mean, that YOU know of, as you second guess the cops from seeing a video. That is NOT adequate information to conclude anything.

Floyd George was being arrested for passing counterfeit money, or forged checks, depending on which story you read (Seems the media doesn't check facts well when the story is hot...)
Floyd George was also an ex-con, having served a 5-year sentence in Texas for ARMED HOME INVASION ROBBERY.
Floyd George was 6 ft 6 inches tall, weighed around 275 and was employed as a bouncer.
Derek Chavin, the officer pinning George down- was mid 5 foot tall, weighed less than 150 lbs.
Chauvin was a 19 year veteran of his police force. While he did have complaints against him- (but no disciplinary actions) he also had medals for his bravery. He had been an MP in the military as well.
He was experienced in dealing with potentially violent situations and people.

Without excusing whatever violations the cop may be guilty of- you would have to be grossly ignorant to think you were arresting Mary Poppins, or that this person posed no possible threat to your own life. Such a man could snap your neck in a second; he would not need to be armed with anything except his physical capacity to do that. His record of violent crime as well as his profession as a bouncer indicates that he is no stranger to violence and physical confrontation- he does it for a living.

Put yourself in the position of Chauvin- assigned the job of arresting such a person.

He wouldn't move when told. That is all it takes. Note in this instance it seems likely that Floyd didn't move because he was longer capable because of medical issues. Paramedics would see this one way cops entirely differently because of different training and experiences.

If you'd like I can lay out for you the defense his lawyers going to use.

There are a lot of questions in this whole situation. 1st how the hell short on manpower especially experience manpower if they have to have two rookies working together in a patrol car? That should be a strictly emergency situation at best. In fact it's begging to get your ass sued off.

    Well said.
The first key is to treat the officer with respect; do not give him reason to believe you pose a threat. IF the officer does act improperly- the time and place to make that an issue is not at the moment, but to file a complaint and charges later. Amazingly- treating others with respect usually gets you respect in return. Police officers regularly have to interact with dangerous and abusive people, they must be cautious- it goes with the job, and if they fail to be cautious- they become victims.

Anyone who criticizes the police should be in charge of finding better (replacement) officers who are willing to do that job, under those conditions, for the same amount of money.

    Good luck.

I have written on this before. The corruption between the unions and their democratic leadership is a very incestuous relationship after all. The democratic party rely on the campaign contributions these unions serve up, and the democratic party leaders then create policy that makes being a member of the union almost impossible to break away from. And of course, the contributions that said unions can make is astounding and represents the real extortion of its members. Democrats suggesting now that they would "defund" the police to "remake" policing is so much smoke as they literally cannot afford to lose the campaign contributions and the political support of said unions. So, a tiny bit of window dressing might make its way, but fear not, the machine of gross extortion will continue, and whatever rebranded organization comes back into light will still also be unionized, with the tacit agreement that their members dues will still flow nicely into said DNC coffers.

BS the video starts at 2:30 where Floyd is being walked to the sidewalk. Multiple times you can see him trying to pull his arms away from the officer. You can even see the officer telling him to stop pulling away before he sits him down

Look it up.. why do i have to do the work for you? There are several videos.. shows them getting him, waking to car, at the moment he is being put in car, there is clearly a struggle and then he is shown on the ground. He didn’t want to get into the car. Do you really think 2-3 cops would peacefully go to an SUV, hand cuff a guy, peacefully walk over to police car, then out of the blue, for kicks and giggles, as bystanders watched and video taped, just throw him to the ground and jump on him? Where did you leave your common sense?

Who's us? The brainwashed population who believe without facts to back them up that Minnesota is not Democrat; that Minneapolis is not Democrat ; that public sector unions do not support the Democrat party; that the media would hide the party affiliation of the cops if a single perpetrator was Republican?

Democrats own the problem they promised to fix 50 years ago --- if only blacks would vote for their former owners. After 50 years, the same problems exist. Trump was the first President to do something about it and he doesn't own the problem. Democrats do. Provide evidence that Democrats have done anything to improve the plight of blacks in this country.

    Exactly.
While Republicans are corrupt too and have their own demons - police brutality is one of those things where they contributed very little.

    Nope!

No sign at all that Floyd was resisting arrest.

He does appear to be a bit intoxicated and that was substantiated by the finding of fentanyl in his system.

Being intoxicated is NOT resisting arrest.

As far as your "lip reading" goes that does not constitute evidence.

Furthermore it was YOUR allegation so the ONUS remains on YOU to substantiate it.

Since you cannot your credibility has suffered but that is NOT my problem.

I’m not lip reading you can see Floyd pull his right arm around his side away from the officer and then the officer grab hold of his arms and pull them back.

This is not debatable. And given how nice they were handling that criminal on the video we currently have, when the body cams come out they’re going to show Floyd pulling away again. I look forward to hearing the audio and how many times the cops told him to stop before they finally put him on the ground.
