Someone placed a noose in NASCAR driver, Bubba Wallace's garage at the race track on Sunday June 21st. He is the one who suggested the removal of Confederate flags at NASCAR events. Bubba Wallace is currently the only African-American NASCAR driver. I guess some folks don't like Bubba's suggestion. P.S. I wonder if fingerprints can be lifted from that noose?
Given what I've seen over the last few years, it's no better than a fifty fifty proposition as to whether it was done by some racist thug or Somme lefftist pot stirrer. One suspects you won't need finger prints. Given the cost if the stuff inn your average Nascar garage theirs probably a tonne of security cameras around there.
Good point. I notice there are STILL lots of Confederate flags flying at NASCAR from the TV news report.
Of course there are. NASCAR has is deeply rooted in the South. To most of the people waving those thing it is a tradition whose original meaning has long sense been list and replaced with something else non longer even remotely connected to it's distant past.
Whenever politics invades sports, bad things happen. Let's just stick to the sports and leave the politics for another time and place.
I understand what you're saying. But, sometimes sports and politics do collide. Like when those 2 Black track athletes raised their arms in a Black Power salute at the Olympics to protest racism. Or when Muhammad Ali refused to go into the military because of his religious beliefs and they took away his boxing title.
The Confederate Flag is not a demonstrable threat to anyone and banning it is unwarranted. Hanging a noose for someone is a demonstrable threat, and I hope the person is caught and charged with making threats.
Why did one nutmeg do something? We won't know til the nutmeg is caught. Until then your guess is as good as mine. And neither one is any more than a guess.
I can guarantee you NASCAR is going to get to the bottom of this. NASCAR has been for decades trying to expand its base of fans. This is a PR fiasco for them to achieve that goal. They need to be far more inclusive because the future doesn't look bright for an organization that was born in the deep south over running illegal hooch from the back country. Good ole boys and rednecks just isn't enough to secure the sport in the future.
I agree rebel flags which is a political symbol against integration since the 1950's should not be there.
Go who ever's driving that car, the Petty family for decades. I know that and I'm not even a Nascar fan. Hell 2/3 of those voting vote D or R not because of deep seated beliefs but because that's who mommy and daddy and grandma and grandpa voted for. Sadly about half of what's left vote for the other party because they don't like mommy and daddy.
Nothing wrong with moonshine. I had a roommate in thevAirForce who used to bring back some seriously good stuff. Yes we drank itvwith Mountain Dew what did you expectvwe were 19-20 years olds..
No problem if the moonshine is made legal, but those backwoods stills can still kill you. If it's not the lead and other contaminants, the methanol from the first drippings will blind you. There's plenty of legal hooch to get you wasted.
I am. Most of those people waving those flags are doing so because that's the colors on the car of their favorite driver. No more no less. If you think there's more to it than that you expect a whole lot more of people than you really ought.
Yes illegal and homemade is a crap shoot. My cousins in Ukraine used to make it even going back to Soviet days . I asked where they got and how did they afford the grain and potatoes. They laughed and said "steal it from collective farm, just like we got most anything else, ha ha!" .. You them back then stealing from the collective farm was a survival strategy and a political statement. They said Communism steals from the people and we the people steal it back! They filled bottles of "store bought " booze and made their own seals their first visit here got it through customs as "gifts for family". I laughed that my family over there fought corruption with corruption. True PARTIZANi my grandfather would have been proud.
You actually think people still give a crap about integration fifty years since Nixon made it happen?
I was making that reference as a historical fact. The use and display of the Rebel flag got really popular when integration was an issue.
There is no way there are not several security cameras in that garage and the people who have access to it are very limited. I'm suspecting another Smollet situation to come to light.
