In my lifetime, healthcare has never been denied to those in need that don't have the ability to pay. I grew up on MediCal. No politician on either side will stand up to the food or drug lobby. No one bites the hands that elect them. If Americans were healthy, this would not be a hot political topic. Perhaps pushing singer payer will drive us to the tip[ping point sooner. Eventually, there will not be enough healthy people in the workforce to sustain it and it will implode.

You just can't solve problems created by the government with more government.

Sure, everybody loves paying 9 times the price or not being able to afford it at all.

Why won't the government mandate all cars cost 150,000 dollars. I've just got way too much money.

Because lots of people couldn't afford it otherwise.

It's basically a shitty Republican plan after all. The idea is to require us all to have insurance and then throw money at the insurance companies so they can re-throw it at those who can't afford to help make the insurance cos even richer still. Trump would actually be right to "repeal and replace" it with the single payer system the Republicans spent the last 20 years blocking, but only the most addicted Trump acolytes think for even a minute that he ever meant to replace anything with anything beyond a graveyard if you got sick.

That's an assumption. Problems are created everywhere, so it's a meaningless statement.

Government does have an appropriate role. Moreover, it is not government who is administering my care, it's a private clinic. You're generalizing belies a lack of understanding of the situation.

Health care has been denied to lots people.

    1. denied to People who cannot afford it before the ACA (and 'ER' is not 'care'.
2 Insurers had whole departments whose functions was to deny claims in any way they could get away with, many times the would just say 'no' knowing that the patient was not in a position to fight back, and this is well documented, before the ACA, catastrophic care was a crap shoot.

    See for yourself:

I agree with you, but at the time, Obama did not have a filibuster proof senate, and given that the repubs designed the idea in the first place, he thought it would be something they would be able to get behind. Of course, he was naive in believing that, as they had no intention of backing anything he came up with, good or bad. Still, it was better than the status quo. It could use some fixing, which would make it a lot better, but republicans are only interested in sabatoging it.

There is no way in hell Trump is going to replace it with a single payer system.
I'd support it, if he did, but he won't, he's kowtowing to the far right.

Actually, the rate of price increases on health care premiums slowed under Obama compared to prior years

It shot up again when repubs sabotaged it. That's a clever trick, sabotage it so it causes prices to rise, then blame it on the ACA.

Clever, unfortunately, not every one is as stupid as you think they are.

You ought to try backing up an argument, posting some substance.

Vacuous declarations are essentially an incompetent argument.

So what have we learned? Obamacare did nothing to fix our healthcare problems and the left blame it all on Trump.

That's what taxes are for for the ACA, smart guy, congratulations on one of the dumbest replies.

Why do we need subsidies to pay for Obamacare?

And you didn't answer mine. However I don't play games. Obamacare expanded coverage but did nothing to fix the existing problems. The entire law was based on trying to convince the least likely to buy health insurance pay exponentially more for it to cover those that use it the most. It imposed a mandate that was completely unconstitutional. and that very same mandate was so weak the law was bound to fail. The ACA is a complete failure and Trump can't be blamed for that.
