Then why do doctors/nurses in the operating room wear them?

As has been said by fellow colleagues on this board: To keep themselves from getting sick and/to keep their own germs from the patient's body.

So, since you could not bring any facts to the table to refute even a single word of what I wrote, all that remained for you to do was to attack my person. That is a sure-fire sign of a losing argument.

Better luck to you next time. Oh, and next time, bring facts with you.

The annual flu also affects public health and safety. Should the government mandate wearing masks year 'round?

Its this simple. Sheriffs and cops are not supposed to hold a veto power over either the legislative or executive branch. They are not also constitutional scholars interpreting a governors order, or a statute and comparing it to the state of federal constitution. They enforce the law until an authority in a robe declares it null and void from the bench. If they cannot in conscience enforce the law, they resign their office, hand over their badges and become security guards and save for law school or start preparing for a run for the state legislature.

Masks are great...for the elite or white collar workers who don't sweat for a living. But if you are like me, and burn thousands of calories per shift, you wonder how safe this soaking wet petri dish around your face really is. I can't even wipe the sweat from my brow now with my arm. My contact risk has skyrocketed for negligible gain in airborne risk.

Those who need the government to tell them how to avoid a virus should not be calling others "fools"

A society that has been convinced it must have its urine tested for drugs will joyfully acquiesce to many other silly authoritarian moves, including wearing a mask for a false sense of security.

Whether we each LIKED a law or process does not have a bearing on the question of public officials following the law in their official position.

Our public officials don't get to ignore or rewrite the law.

As private citizens they can work for changes to law - supporting specific candidates in elections, etc..

But, as government officials they are there to carry out their position according to the law. If they can't do that, then they need to find a different job.

I didn't ask if you liked it. I asked if you supported Obama when he instituted them. Did you? It's a simple yes or no question.

I didn't answer as your question is counter to the whole issue.

My opinion and the sheriff's opinion of the law are irrelevant when it comes to their duties - which is the issue.

The issue is whether they can carry out their job function as officials who enforce the law and are paid by my tax dollars to do so. If they can not in right mind do that, they then need to resign.

America is not an anarchy. We have a representative democracy for making law. EVERYBODY knows in advance that we're not going to like all the laws.

When laws are made, we may not like them, but we follow the law. The same goes for those whose job it is to enforce the law. They don't get to decide stuff like whether the law applies to their friends, whether it should just be ignored, whether a donation to the policeman's benevolent fund will cover for some wrong doing or whatever.

My question is very much on point. Obama ran counter to established law written by Congress and signed by a previous President when he instituted DAPA and DACA. Did you support him in that endeavor or not? That you have answered the way you have I can only assume that you did support Obama when he instituted DAPA and DACA. And you know that he ran counter to established law. Which is why you are actually avoiding answering my question. By supporting Obama in DAPA and DACA you are showing your argument here against these sheriffs to be hypocritical.

So, did you or did you not support Obama when he instituted DAPA/DACA?

We settled this in Nuremburg though. Unlawful laws are unlawful. Even in spite of the times, these aren't laws they are edicts. To prevent us from being North Korea 2.0, as citizens we must recommend our governors to participate in the state legislative process.

they can't enforce it, it will depend on the people

that said, I live in a republican state and something has changed in the last week.... everyone is wearing masks, it's weird because they were not prior to this week

prior to this week, people only had to wear masks if they went to Costco, everywhere else was mask free

trying to enforce mask laws is like trying to enforce seat belt laws, neither law will be used for it's intended purpose, they will be used as excuses to stop and harass people they otherwise could not - kinda like stop and frisk

You may be correct but let's remember, both seat belts and masks save lives.
