Not hyperbole. How can you say he is not doing that when he brings the full resources of the government against Democrats et al nearly every day.

 

Should Trump get a 2nd term (god forbid). I am quite certain we will see journalists in jail within a month of that great disaster. He will make Putin look like Julian Assange.

 

In one post he is trying to wipe out parties, and in the next he plans to lock up journalists.

These claims are ridiculous. They flow from a frustrated conviction that Trump is Hitler. (Or is he "1000 times WORSE than Hitler!!!"?)

 

So?

Trump flat out says he wants to do all these things and yet you simply say "ridiculous" and think that answers everything.

 

Well, I just got on to a friend about being casually dismissive of a point, so I'll answer yours in more detail.

I think that once you decide and depart from the base proposition that Trump is a closet fascist, dictator, emperor, despot, or autocrat, then sure, all those fears seem reasonable. But Trump has never seriously said any of those things. And I don't believe that he even fantasizes about it, not seriously, other than a figurative "I could murder that guy," and the reason is simple: it would not be in the interest of his business empire. Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Castro, the real monsters, had nothing.

Trump is not going to risk his property, his life, his children's opportunities, by effectively trying to overthrow the government. Governing is a nuisance for any business man. He doesn't enjoy running the government. That's why (ironically) he is giving the states so much leeway on reopening. He even has said that the economy works better under Democrats.

 

It doesn't bother you when Democrats do it, why would it bother you when Republicans do it?

They're planting seeds of insurance. If Trump loses, they win. If he wins, they still win ... because he cheated. "We knew he was going to cheat all along."

 

I view the exploitation of Floyd and this virus as cheating and the Democrats will get away with it in November but will pay a huge price in the mid terms.

 

I was just trying to imagine the press and populace in 1918 blaming President Wilson for the Spanish flu epidemic. That was a bad time for the flu to hit, for we were in the process of sending troop ships to Europe.

We can thank god and Trump that we aren't in the middle of another war right now.

 

I personally believe that Wilson almost single handedly spread the “Spanish Flu” to Europe by sending American troops who he knew to be sick on crowded transport ships which came to be nicknamed floating coffins. He was a murdering son of a bitch who had people arrested at the first hint of opposition to him or the war. I’m glad he had his stroke and I hope he is screaming in agony in Hell right now.
But he was a Democrat so we should not make an issue of this, right?
